Ive watched these videos for a long time and not once did I get the impression that Josh takes credit for finding treasures. These other ppl know the location and Josh is only there to investigate and report the finds.

Josh Gates Discovers this and Josh Gates discovers that when in fact he is invited to a location that some poor slob has been excavating and eating dirt for years and finally finds something and this guy Josh comes swooping in and its "Josh Gates finds this and that". In this case its Pirate Treasure. What do I know, I always stick up for the underdog and the worker. Don't mind me.
He never claims to find anything either. Frankly, neither do any of the people he interacts with. Most anyway. It's more of a 'did they find it' because in most shows he moves on to other sites and other people, depending on the episode,who claim they have found the actual thing and they pretty much just line out what the evidence could be for that. Take the episode where they 'find' the secret. The guy who found it already did most of the work. Josh never claimed to find it with him even though they did all dig around in the dirt to find pieces. With Josh comes equipment and experts some of these people may never have had and a bit of fame thrown in there. He helps but doesn't claim discovery. The format of the show doesn't really allow him to stay put in one spot long enough to find anything. Nobody would watch that show, right?

If that’s near Looe bar then it’s more than likely off the President wreck that went down towards the end of the 1600’s, they put its worth at around £8 million. Though with that said, so many ships have gone down around our coast in storms, there’s probably hundreds out there that were carrying precious cargo! Sailors used to say “From Pentire Point to Hartland light, A watery grave by day and night”.
As soon as they pulled that "silver coin" I was like nah that was placed for sure. Only gold doesn't tarnish, and even then under the ocean experiences corrosion from the sand and salt. So the coin if it was gold would be incredibly scratched and rounded after almost 400 years. Not a perfect shiny disk. Silver would absolutely be black under all that salt water
People fall. Some seem bs, and some really can't place the things. Scans are real. Making jokes on show. Something could happen. Usually not, but someone else tries these things & yeah, it's not easy if you're afraid of heights. It's a show, too, so......
