Now that's a teardown. Nice work. The T16 Plus with Hall Effect gimbals has just surfaced. I just ordered one from rc-wing.com. Thanks for this excellent and informative vid.
Very cool! Just have one question is there any way I can tighten up the left joystick up and down tension? I tried removing the rubber cover but it seems that the adjustments is for yaw left and right only. Thanks
Nice review, and thank you very much for that. But, as far as I have been researching, I have not seen any review using the new Radiomaster (or even Jumper T16 or T18) with 50cc or bigger size gassers airplanes. And that is a real shame, because both companies maybe are missing a huge amount of money. Radiomaster and Jumper should also aim, face up and shake strongly the big and more stabilished radio companies in that niche, in my humble opinion. Greetings from south of Brazil.
im not especially savey with tearing a radio apart to fix things so they effectively bind and fly with all the cool planes available or going through multiple menus to fix comparability issues but i do want to upgrade from my old fm jr radio to spectrum with out paying over a hundred bucks for the radio and then another 60 bucks for a new lipo battery. options?
hey @Whiffles thank you so much for this awesome tear down video!!!! could you by chance give me some information on replacing one or two of the top switches ?! i have had my radio for only a few days and have already managed to snap a switch off :( ... do you know wher i could buy a replacement? or can i just use a frsky switch to repalace?
I'd just remove the switch, get the dimensions and search for something similar on eBay. You could also try contacting the vendor who sold the T16 to you to check if they have any replacement parts on hand. An FrSky switch with the same dimensions should be fine.
I just swapped mine, you need to remove everything as in this video, except for the 4 switches in the side plate. Took me a little over 2 hours to take apart and put back together again. So yeah, follow along with this, and you are good to go ;)
@@normantrowell1835 hi Norman Just try flicking it with the nail upwards from the direction the connector is mounted. It is a little fiddly, and sometimes takes a couple of tries. You can see and feel on the ribbon cable when the lock is loose.
@@whiffles how long have you been using it. Have the gears gotten clanky or have issues with the torque or over-torquing occurred; stripping some hardware? Battery life deteriorate so much that it doesn't hold a charge long?
@@theUAPwhisperer Been using it for about a year now and I've maybe charged it twice. Works like new and it almost never seems to lose it's charge. Over-torquing isn't an issue at all. If anything it could use a little more, but one manual twist at the end is enough. Never stripped anything.
I think a few folks have done it here in the RCGroups thread, www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3243685-Jumper-T16-2-4G-16CH-OpenTX-Multi-protocol-Radio
How the hell do you unscrew the switches from the outside? How? What tool do you use? I managed to unscrew one, but I guess it was initially loose, I've been stuck for an hour trying to unscrew the other one... So until you show what magic wrench you need to unscrew the switches I can't call this teardown complete.
@@whiffles Thanks! Well, I managed to do in the end, but it was waaaay more effort compared to what I saw on your X9 video. No way I could do it with tweezers or anything alike. Jamming wire cutters in both of the tiny holes and twisting is what got the job done!
The radio is really a personal choice. Which looks better to you? Do you want something compact? What's your budget? This is a great radio for the price. I'd certainly choose it over the FrSky X9D, but the X-Lite is another good choice for its size.
@@whiffles yeah I had the xlite really like it. The goggles I had a domv3 but wanted a bigger screen but not bluer. I'm trying to get back in so I currently don't have anything.

Yeah, it's hard to get at the moment, but I heard a new batch is coming soon. Jumper is putting all their resources into this radio right now. What sort of issues did your friend have? I know Jumper is sending replacement parts to their vendors in order to support the customers.
@@whiffles He had problems with the battery holder, the scroll wheel and the backup Lithium battery. I've seen one other comment about a broken scroll wheel. I have read somewhere that there is a software update that addresses the scroll wheel. I have an original T8SG which is fine. I had a T8SG V2 and it was so unreliable that I binned it. That makes me fairly biased against Jumper.
They're going to send a bunch of scroll wheels with a metal pin to the vendors to distribute as replacements, and yes there is a firmware update that addresses the scroll wheel skipping every other click. That will be a welcome change. I've got the original T8SG as well, but I replaced it with the T8SG Plus which I really like. I even modded it to support Crossfire. Never had any issues with it.

Thank you! Although I don't destroy it in the process ;)
Thank you...I needed to adjust tension spring, they started rubbing, very easy to adjust once you are in.

Nice video! Would you know of the screen has a inbuilt backlight?
Yes, the screen is backlit.
Just wondering, on your powered screwdriver, what is the name and where purchased?
Thanks for reply . I was trying to pull the black bar away from the white one . is that wrong ?
Sorry, I'm not sure I'm following.
I can't see clearly the RTC battery. Can you tell me what kind of button cell it is?
Great video. Any idea if the switches can be replaced/repaired? Mine broke off. :(
I'm sure they can. You just need to find a suitable replacement. Maybe check the Jumper AliExpress shop.
