Making Zero Clearance Inserts Two Different Ways

  • Lately, I've been focused on improving my workshop. I added zero clearance throat inserts/plates to my table saw and miter saw. Since I wanted to make 2, why not make them 2 different ways. The first way was a more traditional approach. The second way, I used my CNC to cut out the shape. This is something I've been meaning to do for a while. It will prevent small cutoffs from falling into the blade and keep my dust collection from clogging.

I had the same problem when I cut my zero clearance insert for my miter saw with my shaper origin, took me 3 trys to get it right 😅

Fun video. Not sure what you're using for CAD/CAM, but as you get more proficient with it you will see things switch quite dramatically. I am by no means an expert at Fusion 360 (which is what I use), but I can now much, much more quickly design and make something that fits better and is more adaptable using Fusion and my CNC than doing by hand.

That makes sense. Something I didnt mention in the video is the the repeatability with the cnc. You only have to design it once. Thank you for sharing

Great video. Thank you for saving us to have to make the comparison.
On a totally unrelated note, did I (or anyone else for that matter) ever state that your name repeatedly reads as Angry Bird Builds first time, every time? 😅😅😅

You're the first to tell me that! But that makes sence. Maybe I make a video of me being angry?! Lol
