KERALA COCONUT MILK FISH CURRY
Ingredients
Mackerel/King fish - 900 gms (about 6 steaks)
Coconut oil - 2 to 3 tbsp
First extact coconut milk - 3/4 cup
Second extract coconut milk - 1 1/2 cup
Shallots - 10 no
Garlic colves - 6 no
Ginger - 2 inch piece
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Tomato (Small ) - 1 no
Green chillies - 5 to 6 no
Kudampuli (cocam) / gamboge / tamarind - 2 to 3 no
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Kashmiri chilli powder - 2 to 3 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
pepper power - 1 tsp
Salt as needed
Water as needed
For tempering :
Coconut oil - 2 to 3 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
Fenugreek Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Chopped Shallots - 5 no.
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Instructions
Clean the fish and cut it into medium sized pieces. Keep it aside.
Soak tamarind in a small bowl of hot water for 10 mins.
Notes
1. Any firm or fleshy fishes like king fish, mackerel, sardines, golden pompano, pomfret, salmon, pearl spot, red snapper, tilapia, rohu, or catla can be used.
2. Adjust the amount of chili powder used according to your spice level.
3. Coconut oil is ideal for all authentic Kerala recipes, but any neutral oil except for olive oil would do.

Thanks josna for this wonderful recipe. I will try this n let u know. One doubt is that in LCHF diet..tamarind any type is not allowed, so can v use lemon instead...will the taste differ bcoz of that....pls let me know....

U can use kokam (kudampuli).
Usually i am not using lemon in fishcurry..
Tomatoes with more sourness u can use to maintain the taste..
