Congratulations! I did a search in UA-cam for Guelaguezta and you guys came up 3d behind the official posts. There are 15 idigenous languages spoken in Oaxaca. Each color combination and embroidery pattern identifies a specific group and even village.

The girls whit the pineapple come from my region , and the dace called " flor de piña " (( pineapple flower )) because its a typical fruit over here... have fun in oaxaca
Güera and Goyo!! Nice you are enjoying la Guelaguetza! It is word from the Zapotec language and means Offering or a present that’s given. So the feast is an offering from the 8th Regions in which the state is divided. They are sharing its goods and interchanging goods. Is an old indigenous festivity. All the outfits and designs have a meaning, is telling everyone where a specific group comes from, so are the dances, those represent the Region as well. Enjoy the festivity and be safe!!

The drone shots added greatly to appreciating the scoop of the event/parade. After being an expat here in Mexico for over two years now I've noticed how much Mexicans are into doing their ethnic dances and how doing these traditional dances builds pride in being a Mexican.
I have to say that in my opinion no other country has such a rich,colorful and most beautiful culture in the world! I dont say it just because I'm Mexican myself...I'm born and raised in Southern California but every time i see the Mexican flag it gives me goosebumps...very proud of my people! You guys are great! God bless!

So glad you guys got to catch a part of the Guelaguetza... enjoy these last few days of it. The actual Guelaguetza (final) performance is tonight on the hill west of town, but the festivities will continue through the week. And you´ll find that with Oaxaca there is always a festivity going on, whether a religious feast day, cultural or civic event.There is a magic in Oaxaca, in the city. It has to do with how faithful the people are to preserving and sustaining their traditions, whether it´s a special food, a type of mezcal, or artisan craft. It´s diverse and it´s rooted in authentic traditions that have already disappeared in the rest of Mexico.

I live in Queretaro and i'm a huge fan of your videos. Guelaguetza party is awesome and in Queretaro we have something similar to a carnival but is an Aztec and indigenous dance carnival that takes place in September in the city center. "Los Concheros" or "Danza de los concheros".
