We are two brothers who run a small video production company in the UK. We've been Producing, Directing, Shooting and editing for our company for over 5 years now and have always talked about doing a Dragonball Z Fan Film. We grew up watching DBZ and it provided many years of entertainment and enjoyment for us as we're sure it did for many of you. We, like every other DBZ fan, were sorely disappointed with Hollywood's attempt and producing a live action DBZ film. So we shot an extended Live action Fan trailer for the Saiyan Saga!

i legit got chills when the guy playing krillin screamed, "GOKU! WE NEED YOUR HEEEELP!!" then i got excited at the sight of goku. even after all these years this fan trailer is STILL so good.

DBZ is really weird when's its portrayed in real life...
Jacob J Anime is usually pretty weird when portrayed in real life.
That will all change in 10 years when technology makes a bigger leap, since Moore's Law is still in effect......Computers are beginning to be on the Quantum level ( actually already started in 2015)..... We have 7 Nanometer processors as of late 2015 now. James Cameron said that Avatar 2 & 3 are taking so long cause he's experimenting with new technology no one else has used yet. The movies are both done, they just need to be released. Avatar 2= 2017 release. I think by 2025 DBZ will be totally feasible with live action with a $200M budget ( depending on what story arc is adapted, The Buu Saga would be the most challenging, with the fusions).
+rick balthis All you have to do is cut out about 95% of the Mr. Satan filler, and the slow anticipation-building scenes prior to each fight and it would be A LOT easier. To me, it always felt like the Cell Saga was long, but the Buu Saga was longer, mostly due to Mr. Satan's scenes being longer in the Buu Saga. If you were to mostly cut them out of both sagas, the Buu Saga would still be longer, but I don't think it would be much longer.

It's incredible what you did with the little budget you had. If only the people who financed DB Evolution gave the money to you guys instead, we'd have a somewhat decent DB live action movie by now.

First off, I have to say that this trailer was phenomenal! The look, the feel, the tone, the paceing, the camera angles, everything was spot on!! Couldn't have asked for anymore or any better. I was totally excited while watching this. Same as I felt actually watching the original anime when it first aired. Brought me back to my childhood. Thank you so much!
Second, I read some of the comments and had to stop. Can we please stop with the nit picking and whining. Yea, the actors don't look 100% like the anime. Yea, the costumes aren't 100% like the anime. The list of differences go on and on. BUT you try to make a real life costume look 100% like the anime. NOT POSSIBLE. Same goes for finding real people who are real life dopple gangers of the anime. NOT POSSIBLE!! We need to just let go of the fanboyism/fangirlism for a little bit and actually give this a chance. I mean hell, look at what Hollywood made with millions of dollars and what these people with a very minut amount did. This blows away the million dollar version on there worst day.Nothing done in real life can mirror what is in the anime. Micheal bay give these guys some contracts and get this film started far better then the dragonaball movie american version made. Im very impressed they followed the cartoon to the ladder. Heres hoping hollywood can watch this vid and take some ideas and follow the cartoon style!

Way better than "the movie".
The scene with Piccolo taking the blast for Gohan was also very powerful, and perfectly executed. I've honestly only gotten a little more than halfway through this video before I felt the need to comment. One more thing: major props on the shot with Nappa's broken spine on Goku's open palm. That was very well done.

Had it been me in charge of the cast, I would've used asian actor for all characters from Earth, and caucasian actors for all saiyans. This because DBZ is a Japanese production, and using actors who are clearly *not* Japanese as the invaders would've driven home the point that "they are not like us" (from a Japanese point of view) quite nicely.

He is saying that he would use caucasian actors FOR the saiyans because if he uses all asian characters for the Earth characters, than it would add on to the more reason why they would be scared. First of all, they're invading the planet. Second of all, they look different from you, so now you know they're really not like you and this makes you even more scared. He wasn't worrying about race he was just showing his idea of a good method that would add that "they are not like us" element to the movie. That's a smart idea, but I wouldn't do it because I can't find a caucasion that would pass off for Goku. Maybe Vegeta.
Stop arguing. Just to be fair Goku will be Asian in his base form and Caucasian in his Super Saiyan Form. although Goku's eyes is too big to be an asian race and asians have small eyes aside from the people who live in India and middle east countries.

If they didn't actually speak that language, Akiya would've just made up an alien language and translated it with captions, but he didn't do that, they automatically spoke Japanese without even having to learn it... Wow guys absolutely love this! You did a better job than that flop put out a few years ago by a major studio, and even that Indie film version doesn't hold a candle to this. You need to consider a full length version if possible. If there is any way to help fund that you can count me in!

Not bad multiple flaws but definitely better than the abomination that Hollywood put out years ago sigh.... Need more attention to detail regarding how clothing is affected wind etc. piccolo is on point although he should be taller. He seemed kinda small. Also the way the characters body reacted during certain power up moves as., anyways great vid gotta new sub today. Look forward too seeing future vids!
Ya, it's awesome to think this was done by a small group of fans, and it was amazing compared to a fully funded Hollywood title.
Put these guys behind the script and acting, and give them a Hollywood budget, and it would be gold.

It's mindboggling the kind of cynicism and criticism that people will post regarding this video. Yeah, it's very difficult to have the characters translate directly into real-life actors, and we all have our preferences, but these guys did a great job and actually stuck with the Saiyan storyline. The multi-million dollar Dragonball Evolution? Now that's a different story...

Chichi was kinda fine (not recognizable anyways, lol).
Bulma was a FAIL (even the actress herself WANTED to be a BLUEnette, yet she was FORBIDDEN by the almighty producer).
Mai was too insignificant to even pay attention.
Piccolo was bearable, but still off.
Yamcha was a 9000% horror-FAIL.
And Ozaru had the concept itself way OFF to begin with.

This is my second time watching this video and I respectfully disagree. Its clear that a lot of dedication and effort went into making the production, and I won't fault the creators for that one bit.
That said, I was in stitches when watching this, because it proves how hilariously stupid a true-to-the-source DBZ movie would look if it were done in live-action. While I can and do respect the effort present here, I've always been of the mind that sticking too closely to the source material (especially in regards to something like Dragon Ball Z) can be a bad thing, and this video - in my humble opinion - showcases that in spades.
If you think it works - and you clearly do - I can respect that. Kudos
***** don't think it would be that hard with today's talent... lots of people complain about how hard it would be to combine the seriousness of DBZ without losing the comedy... but it has been done in many movies ... for example kung fu hustle..... and more recently... the Avengers... an yes I knw u were specifically talking about the original source material... but I believe these were the aspects tht previously made it almost in possible.... but as I said with today's talent ..... it can deff be done...

But to be honest i don't think DBZ can be made live action for a while because of its constant flying, energy beams, aliens! where gonna need to wait till the technology used for graphics has been upgraded then i think dragon ball z can be made in live action

I don't know how old you are, but you know 2012 wasn't some low-tech time, right? Things were basically the same then as they are now, I remember when this came out, I watched it on a tablet. Hardly what you'd call the "old days".

I love these dbz films, I've seen alot of people saying great for what they had to use and I agree. I'd pay to watch these for sure and in my opinion to get the true dbz experience you would need the high budget of Hollywood, but bless these guys for doing a great job and I hope they keep it up
