I once interviewed for a steel shop, I had zero steel experience. I did however have some construction background. My response was that even though I had no experience I was a quick learner and could take coaching, what I will not bring with me is 20 years of bad habits. I can learn to do things the way you want them. Without hesitation he offered me the position.

Being an introvert is not something that is “fixable”. It IS a personality trait and it’s actually very powerful. Introverts are not shy. That’s a misconception. They simply choose very wisely when to speak and when not to. Big difference
I don't think he directed the term 'fixable' towards those who are introverts. Rather, I think what he is trying to say that in terms of their social skills, that is what can be deemed as fixable. Hold on! Your answer to weaknesses questions as a shy, is not good answer for people who apply for sales position! Never ever say you're shy if you apply for sales
i could say I tend to talk too much about nonrelated things if I am trying to get a job as a salesperson or a Politician that would make me highly qualified. Salespeople have to be likable and people tend to like outgoing conversationalists. I am also an introvert
I attended an interview training in which the person told me that when you are asked "What's your weakness? " you have to say something that is actually useful for the job that you are being interviewed for. She also gave some examples. Like, "I'm very talkative". I was asked this question in the interview for my first job and I gave that readymade answer although I was not at all talkative. Then the interviewer asked "How's that a weakness". I was not prepared for that question but somehow I managed by saying "Sometimes if u talk too much people might get annoyed". Anyway, I got hired although I quit that job in less than 2 years.
When asked for your weakness, always reply with "my areas of opportunities are...." Never called them a weaknesses, it's an area of opportunity that is supposed to be fixable and addressed.
Im highly impressed by the acceptance of an individual's humanity as shown in the second scenario, and the fact of being accepted as all of us being a work in progress, not to be dismissed summarily just because we are flawed/weak in some area.
Prioritising used to be a weakness for me. Having an attention to detail, I would always spend time on smaller, less important things. Since recognising this, I've been working on the priorities and what's the most important tasks, and then to tie in my strength of efficiency, I can come up with ways to get both things done at the same time or on the same route.

I tend to need more time to get familiarized myself with new surroundings and tend to be reserved around new people. It's something I'm aware of and with the right help and support, I'm sure I can overcome it. Also being introverted, I tend to not speak up as much as I would like to, unless being given an audience. I do like sharing my thoughts and ideas with others but often do not find the right way to express them. I'm working on this too. I also procrastinate some times and have worse timings when working without proper deadlines
As a fresh graduate out of the university i had some many ideas in my mind to improve the production process. But as I worked for a year in a company, i realized, change can't happen all of a sudden. I find sincerity and confidence to work well also just answer the questions honestly and don’t talk for to long trying to build yourself up . How you portray yourself , speak and the demeanor in your face helps a lot .
I am highly creative and after building them up , As an introvert I am usually shy to show it to the world . I am working on dominating as an introvert so I can be of high effectiveness to the company
Same haha. But in my city, people treat introverts like it's some sort of disease or something which totally pisses me off. Maybe I wouldn't mention that in my future interviews mainly due to such mentality
Uhm, isn't being an introvert a personality trait? And he said that those cannot be fixed. Its a little counter-intuitive. And is it good to use such a weakness for a Customer Support Advisor role?
I wouldn't say I'm an introvert, I'll just let them know that I sometimes hold back my own ideas in fear of being wrong when often times my tuition was correct..
@@OscarRodriguez-hc5pp I actually like this one more... because I think many people have bad associations with introverts, like they can't be integrated in a team, even though that's not true. Also what @IStandAlone Roronoa Zoro said
I'm an action oriented person, and sometimes in businesses, things are not moving forward as fast or the way I want them too. It can be due to a business process, or a technical issue, or many other things. When this happens, I can get annoying and a bit impatient for something that is out of my control. I've been trying to meditate to help with that and I've made some improvement, but there is still room to grow.
My weakness is I am used to taking on too much work at the same time because I was always used to doing things on my own, and also to keep everyone else happy. This put alot of stress on me and I was starting to bite off more than I can chew. So I decided to make a list and separate what tasks need to be done by me only, and what tasks to delegate to others persons who are suitable to handle those tasks. It's still a work in progress.
What is your greatest weakness? Sometimes i push myself too hard, i might even go into overdrive at times to get things done and it tends to have an adverse effect on the people around me as i might not be open or free for casual conversations.
I believe that I'm quite weak in my time-management skills but then now a day's to take me over on that I use to make daily checklist of the tasks which are necessary to for the same day, and follow that strictly.
My weakness I need to improve on sharing my ideas to others and learn to be active in activities in the office and to learn to share knowledge or know how to my colleagues
Mine answer would be like: Being okay to be alone. That makes me shy to share mh thoughts and ideas, to be introverted, and to have a low self esteem that makes my social skills poor. But im slowly working on it step by step, and i know someday that i can overcome it by having this opportunity to be hired from this company. The people here will surely help me and change my weaknesses into my strengths.
My weaknesses are two no.1 I over think too much especially with critical thinking. The ways I am improving on this is relaxing my mind & thoughts and then analyze what I am trying to accomplish or achieve in goals I set for myself. Another weakness is Public Speaking , I am a shy person and ways I am working on my shyness is to share more of myself to be more open but not tell my life story but to let people know some of life experiences Also reading books out loud and singing the words in songs out so I can project my voice.
Well, over the span of my career, I've had moments when I had to take care of several tasks at once. It became a bit difficult for me to manage all of them properly and prioritize the tasks in a meaningful way. I thought of myself to be an organized person, but this multitasking environment put me on a real test and I struggled at times. To overcome this, I tried several methods such as using memos, planners or schedulers that are out in the market such as the Franklin planner, and attended many workshops and seminars that dealt with this matter. Now I've settled with one tool that I found best fit for me. And I've been using this tool for almost 5 years now. It has helped me improve on my weakness in many ways, but I feel there's still room for improvement, and if this job requires multitasking ability, I'm more than willing to devote my time and energy to learn and develop any skills or methods that will help me get the job done.
In the past I have been tentative answering questions regarding my weaknesses. Having watched this video it feels less threatening and safe and I can be more confident and authentic in my reply. Thank you Dan. 👍
My weaknesses is lack of organizing ability, I find it difficult to organize my ideas and know which ones to do first and that is why I joined an influencer (Dan Lok) and other influencers online to learn from them and work on myself.
Good one! I have a similar problem. What helped me, because I'm good at presenting stuff, is creating a presentation containing most of my ideas. I can organize them more easily now and can listen to myself talking about them. This way I at least see which ones sound better than the others!
My weakness is into diction and nunciation of words, im really lacking into inter communication skills but i am often watching videos related to become fluent in speaking, always listening and answering exercises that is related to ace communication skills, up to this day, i believe that learning is an on going matter and i am into it.
That was great. I've been working for the company I work for now for 20 years in the same department, but now I would like to do something new in the company and will be using want I learned from your video tomorrow.
My answer would be: I am always trying to do a perfect job in what I have to do, because of that sometimes I am losing track of my time. I am working on myself to improve this issue by creating small goals to achieve within a certain period of time
My weakness is that because I am new to the field of project management that I need to further develop my technical skills. I have been taking classes at the University of St. Thomas for PM and working on my skills in areas like building a scope statement and a Work Breakdown Structures. While at the same time, I recently completed my Professional Scrum Master certification. I am building my know-how and enrolled in online training programs for Jira and MS Project though classes that professionals in the field have recommended. To become better at the soft skills of PM, I am reading Influence Without Authority by Cohen and Bradford and The Synergist by Les McKeown. Of course am always open to any coaching that can help with my technical skills
Well my weaknesses is honestly nothing much ..it's just that I don't work under hunger,it reduces my thinking capability which tends to reduce my production rate while at work but with that said I alws make sure to have something to eat before starting to work to avoid hindering me from carrying out my work.
So glad I have found these videos from DanLok - I’ve only watched 2 so far and they are giving me confidence that I can improve my interview skills greatly by applying the teachings.
Don't make it about your personality but about your skillset that you can work on... great tip. Also, avoid a skillset that is fundamental to the role as this can also negate your chance of success.
I tend to be “overconfident” and sometimes that rubs people the wrong way. It’s a tough situation for me because I feel it’s a fine line to walk. I’ve been working on it for years honestly and feel like I’ve made some headway but I definitely still have some work to do...
My weakness is I get excited when I start a particular project, but by the time my excitement level goes down and I end up quitting it. But I have indulged myself in some meditational practices to increase my consistency level and I am pretty sure that I will come over it very soon.
I found your advice extremely helpful. I have an interview for a VP of Safety tomorrow. My biggest interview to date. I took some of your advice and will be using it during the interview Thank you!!!
I believe that , if an interviewer asks you about your weakness, It means that the interviewer is not in a high level of knowledges and soul state. Nobody will tell the real weakness of himself. And of course all the humans weaknesses are based on their personality… That’s the challenge of the interviewer, to read behind the words of the person he is interviewing and understand his character and his weaknesses. Thank you.
I want to be completely honest with my potential new employer. I know for a fact that my greatest weakness is my communication skills with my supervisors. At times, I generally tend to not share my concerns and/or observations with my boss and develop a plan of action entirely on my own. This is something I learned in the Military to safeguard myself from the scorn of my Commanding Officer. I might even tell myself that this problem is too small to bring to his attention. I have had success with this approach, however, there have been occasions where it came back to bite me. I've been working on how to accept the risk of ridicule and embarrassment by sharing my concerns as a problem is developing, and seek input as to a "Best Practice".
If there is weakness issues question : During my college life I used to submit my assignment in the last time . But when I entered in the job sector I really focused on that issues to fix/overcome this. Now I fell that I m confident or overcome very well on this issues .
My weaknesses are im not speaking fluently in english, im edgy person when it comes to negotiating. i hope you teach us more communication skills through your videos.thank you sifu!
Maybe you can say how proud you are of yourself for overcoming a certain weakness you've been dealing with. And then explain what habits you have put into place to keep improving.
I think to be honest, we all find ourselves weaknesses when working on-the-job. But then comes time for an interview, your mind goes blank or not 100% prepared for it. I have to say preparing for an interview would be my weaknesses 😂😂😂
My greatest weakness since my childhood is I was a little introvert, I was afraid to talk to people or speaking on stage but since last three years I am working hard to overcome my weakness. In order to do so I joined some college clubs and whenever I got the chance to be ask some question from the person on stage I just force myself and I ask, that have given me a lot of confidence. Also, I gave some seminars also on stage during college to overcome my stage fear + in order to be more with people, currently I am reading a book, How to win friends and influence people, and the techniques mentioned in it really helps me a lot. Even, I am planning to join Toast Masters International, to overcome my stage fear.
initially I was searching for some internet business skills, and finally I found you are also give a career coach suggestions. share with my sons who might face interview challenges in future! thanks Dan.
Your answer is incomplete. You need to add that you are trying to watch less Dan's videos by reading books and turning off your WiFi. I'd also like for you to give me any coaching tips that may help me keep away from Dan's videos. Do you really like Dan's videos? Coz you learned nothing what he told. xD
Sir, thank you for your pointers they're all spot on... And I like that you don't talk in circles....just to get to the meat of what you want to send across.🤓👍
They always ask me this question in different way; 1) What will be a learning for you? 2) What areas do you need improvements? 3) What are your goals in development? 4) What advice, did your supervisor gave you in the last time?
I like this. What these kind of questions reveal to me is the maturity and the awareness of the employer. Being directly ask about strenghts and weaknesses is quite blunt to be fair, and even though any candidates have to come prepared for their interviews, these are not easy questions to answer. In any circumstances. The questions you mentionned though are much more accessible, and would put me more at ease with the actual idea of working for that particular company, tbh.
They wanna see if you're good fit culturaly. I hate that crap, but moat of the times you have to go through this, just memorize answers and shoot them. HRs love this shit..

My weaknesses are:
- Kryptonite (makes me lethargic)
- Donuts (can't have enough of them)
- PUBG (I'm obsessed with getting chicken dinner)
The eyebrows for some reason convey a lot of confidence. this is pretty awesome.
After this video I'll be over qualified for McDonald's 😂😂😂
😂😂
Lmfaooo same I have a interview Thursday there😭and I’m sooooo scared
@@stormieweather7954 i hope you did well.
I'm trying to land a part time job at a grocery store so not to different for me.
🤣🤣🤣
Being an introvert is a good answer for me because I really am an introvert 😂😂. Thank you
Same haha. But in my city, people treat introverts like it's some sort of disease or something which totally pisses me off. Maybe I wouldn't mention that in my future interviews mainly due to such mentality
But most people are introverts so just about everyone could use that answer.
I'm not very confidant with English when it comes to communication but I'm working on it through reading some books and taking to people in English.
You can attend ESL program for free at your library. I teach accent reduction to non English speakers
You can turnaround any weakness,
To your strength!
This is really good Dan. Your perspective is so fresh and engaging, Can we get more on interviews? Thank you.
I believe that I'm quite weak in my time-management skills but then now a day's to take me over on that I use to make daily checklist of the tasks which are necessary to for the same day, and follow that strictly.
Wow!! It was like Dan's answer was tailor made for me!! He described me!! He put into words what I couldn't all these years!! Thanks a ton Dan!!!
Who likes Dan Lok. Hit a like 👍
Bro who DOESNT like Dan Lok? Long live Dan Lok!
Yeah buddy! He provides so much value
Dan is an amazing guy across the globe
Providing humorous or useful comments is your weakness. I hope this video has driven you you ok improve on this.
My weakness I need to improve on sharing my ideas to others and learn to be active in activities in the office and to learn to share knowledge or know how to my colleagues
Mine answer would be like:
Being okay to be alone.
My weaknesses are focusing on something for a long time and Killing the time for giving a good result.
Hey Tae, what is that tool?
In the past I have been tentative answering questions regarding my weaknesses. Having watched this video it feels less threatening and safe and I can be more confident and authentic in my reply. Thank you Dan. 👍
My biggest weakness is not having the confidence to admit my biggest weakness
I always say my weakness is not being AS confidence as others but I’m currently am working on improving that weakness until I’m as confident as you 😊
Aleksas niiiiice 😊😊
My weaknesses is lack of organizing ability, I find it difficult to organize my ideas and know which ones to do first and that is why I joined an influencer (Dan Lok) and other influencers online to learn from them and work on myself.
Good one!
I have a similar problem. What helped me, because I'm good at presenting stuff, is creating a presentation containing most of my ideas. I can organize them more easily now and can listen to myself talking about them. This way I at least see which ones sound better than the others!
awesome man!
My major weakness is impatience, I want things to be done immediately...
My weakness is into diction and nunciation of words, im really lacking into inter communication skills but i am often watching videos related to become fluent in speaking, always listening and answering exercises that is related to ace communication skills, up to this day, i believe that learning is an on going matter and i am into it.
My background is HR and Recruiting and I have a learned a lot from Dan Lok. He does have a way of keeping you interested.
Of course am always open to any coaching that can help with my technical skills
he has a chinese accent but the quality of the video is so good i dont even hear his accent anymore
it helped me alot , thank you!
Well my weaknesses is honestly nothing much ..it's just that I don't work under hunger,it reduces my thinking capability which tends to reduce my production rate while at work but with that said I alws make sure to have something to eat before starting to work to avoid hindering me from carrying out my work.
Oh wow! This pop out in my recommendation just a day before my interview and I have been worrying to answer such question! Thank you!
Oh man, I used to HATE that question. But your video makes it easier to deal with that question. Thanks Dan! ❤️
Best answer I have heard so far on how to answer this question
That's the best non-answer I've ever seen. If they ask you something, be direct in answer. They ain't got all day to hear you.
So that's how it is. Now, I can generate a more confident answer to that question. Thank you so muchhhh.
I’m about to start interview college applicants in my city. and thank you Sifu for your valuable insights!
My weakness is that I think too much about any idea or decision. But recently I am reading a book for solution of it. I have much improved myself
I took some of your advice and will be using it during the interview
Thank you!!!
I have an interview tomorrow for a promotion and I know this question will come up. Thank you for the pointer.
I believe that , if an interviewer asks you about your weakness, It means that the interviewer is not in a high level of knowledges and soul state. Nobody will tell the real weakness of himself. And of course all the humans weaknesses are based on their personality…
That’s the challenge of the interviewer, to read behind the words of the person he is interviewing and understand his character and his weaknesses. Thank you.
Interviewer: tell me about ur stength
Guy:well, i have many hidden talents
Interviewer : like what
Guy: idk, they r all hidden
Good one :D
lmao 😂
Wkwkwk.. perfect answer
😂
😂
This is more of a question to know your self- awareness and what you do about your weaknesses.
Interviewer: “What are your weaknesses?”
Me: “When people ask me about my weaknesses”
🤣
If there is weakness issues question :
During my college life I used to submit my assignment in the last time . But when I entered in the job sector I really focused on that issues to fix/overcome this. Now I fell that I m confident or overcome very well on this issues .
When you say furthermore during a job interview:
Nasa: Say no more
My weaknesses are im not speaking fluently in english, im edgy person when it comes to negotiating. i hope you teach us more communication skills through your videos.thank you sifu!
Even, I am planning to join Toast Masters International, to overcome my stage fear.
initially I was searching for some internet business skills, and finally I found you are also give a career coach suggestions. share with my sons who might face interview challenges in future! thanks Dan.
I love his enthusiasm, removes my nervousness.
My wekaness is to watch Dan Lok's videos all the time and cant live without it!
Your answer is incomplete. You need to add that you are trying to watch less Dan's videos by reading books and turning off your WiFi. I'd also like for you to give me any coaching tips that may help me keep away from Dan's videos.
Do you really like Dan's videos? Coz you learned nothing what he told. xD

Dan Lok: My weaknesses is being an introvert
Me, an actual introvert: I liked that😪
Right! Worked at phone places bartender an restaurant an people are so mean. I wish i had found real deskt job
Sir, thank you for your pointers they're all spot on... And I like that you don't talk in circles....just to get to the meat of what you want to send across.🤓👍
I really like the way Dan speaks. He is so grounded and confident, but not flamboyant like so many other UA-camrs trying to get attention.
I love his tips. And the fact that he is not persuading me to buy something in his videos. Awesome!
"What is your greatest weakness?"
Me: "My bank account. That's why I want this job."
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hahaha 🤣🤣
i may really say it in my interview , should I?
@@pranavmahadeokar6158 no...
@@pranavmahadeokar6158 a little laughter will charm the right boss. Just get a good feel for your audience.
Wow I really like his reply on being introverted. Because most videos I've seen always use the perfectionist example & losing time management, etc.
They always ask me this question in different way;
1) What will be a learning for you?
2) What areas do you need improvements?
3) What are your goals in development?
4) What advice, did your supervisor gave you in the last time?
I like this. What these kind of questions reveal to me is the maturity and the awareness of the employer. Being directly ask about strenghts and weaknesses is quite blunt to be fair, and even though any candidates have to come prepared for their interviews, these are not easy questions to answer. In any circumstances. The questions you mentionned though are much more accessible, and would put me more at ease with the actual idea of working for that particular company, tbh.
"I need improvement in learning about________________ (state something about the company.)"
They wanna see if you're good fit culturaly. I hate that crap, but moat of the times you have to go through this, just memorize answers and shoot them. HRs love this shit..
Boom... another great video .. I' now won't hesitate to mention my weakness that I'm impulsive sometimes during my working hours..
