Linda Raynier What if your weakness is much more general/open. I truly believe my weakness is encountering a process that I lack adequate knowledge to handle without assistance. It seems like a strength for a weakness after you described what weaknesses are not. Now I am questing if it's an appropriate response to this interview question.
Don't be nervous for an interview. Just study up on the company, have confidence, know your work history, recall stories, relate your work history to the job, have questions to ask at the end. If you don't get it, so be it. Don't take it personal. Life's too short and the world is chaos. Just be happy. Keep plugging away.
I watched almost all of your videos to prepare for my very first job interview. The interviewer asked me this question and I answered it according to what you had suggested and she nodded her head, and even said she agreed with me! My first ever interview went really well because of you, and the best part?? I GOT THE JOB!! Thank you so much for making all these videos. It really helps!
I changed two jobs in last 1 and half year and I refer to Linda's videos both the time. they asked me this question and the best answer I came up with is, " For me it is very hard to say NO, I want to explore more and learn more so every time my teammates asks for a favor I tend to say yes and always end up with more responsibilities, that also one of the reason I am quite efficient now with time management and apart from that I get chance to work with the teammate, get to know the person" I think it is a great answer.
I usually just patch things up by saying my weakness is I can get a little scatterbrained because I'm usually handling many tasks at the same time. I always follow it with a solution, such as "--which is why I'm always keeping meticulous notes and constantly updating my agendas; it keeps me on top of things."
"My weakness is that in situations when there's a deadline i tend to want things done quickly and efficiently" that sounds a lot like a strength in disguise. Same as saying "my weakness is that i'm a perfectionist"
Apple Chai exactly what I be thinking too! Who is the best convincing liar or story teller... NOT I HAHA BUT now I will be with this helpful cheat sheet lol
so true. it's sad that you are not judged on your experience but rather on how you look and the interviewer's personal feelings towards you. I have heard managers saying "I like the way she talked" or "she appears to be a very nice person." We all have to hope that they like us not our experiences.
I agree dude. Every time I do these I'm like... dude... I've worked for Walmart for 8 years.... I press 2 buttons on a machine and put money in it and I talk to customers about things an Xbox or a chair can do. A time I did something as a team, "Hey Fred can you help me lift this for one second?"
I am having a mock job interview as an assignment next week and I am going to say this: "Well, I used to have some problems with properly communicating with others because I was a shy and enclosed person. For example, I would be nervous when presenting a project to a group of people, or meeting new people. I have grown to learn and develop my improved communication skills over the span of my middle school years until now while experiencing times when I am speaking with strangers or even larger groups of people. Now I feel as if I still have very minor problems with communication, such as minor stuttering but I feel like I can learn to fix it."

I am practicing for an interview for entrance into a Sonography program. I took your advice and formulated a weakness "area for growth". I need to know if my answer will hinder me from getting into the program because I am being too honest or if it would help me shine bright and win the interviewers over.... This is what I am thinking about using for my weakness question. In the past, learning and retaining new material was a challenge for me. I did not always make the grades I knew I could make. Given that I noticed this was such a challenge for me, I decided to change the way I studied new and challenging material. Thanks to those changes I could study in a way that worked for me. Learning and retaining information became more natural because I had a better understanding of how to process new information. As a result, I started making A’s in classes I once struggled in, while helping those around me who once struggled with new material also. I am proud to say that I look forward to learning new and challenging material know.

That may delay a project." 👩💭"My primary weakness in the workplace surrounds my technical abilities. I like how you framed the weakness as a transient quality that only comes up in certain situations instead of an always occurring character trait, because it really is only temporary. When you recognize it and takes steps to improve, it’s no longer a problem 👍
In a situation where I get to learn new things I have tended to ask many doubts this made me appear extra enthusiastic . As a result I have learned to research first and started asking valid doubts. And this helped a lot for me and my team members too..
This is the best UA-cam channel for someone who are preparing herself/himself for an interview. I like that she wrote concrete answers for it and make understandable the answers.
Linda, I just interviewed this week using your strategy. It worked like a charm. I felt very comfortable and authentic using it and the interviewers responded well to my answer. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your VERY PRACTICAL EXPERTISE!

Perfect timing to find your channel Linda. I'm rejoining the work force after 10 years at home raising children. I'm terrible at interviews and terrified to say the least. Thank you for the valuable tips. 🙂
I stumbled on this video 2 hours before my interview, and I'm glad I did. It helped me with my responses to the panel of interviewers, I'm so excited and hopeful. I look forward to coming back with great news that I got the job. You're doing an amazing job, please don't stop. Your tips are clear and practical... Thank you for all the tips.
your commentary on having a personal brand pretty much nails it! Thanks for such a great overall understanding of how to sell yourself via storytelling and confidence in who we are, what we have to offer, and getting past the "oh, I don't have any experience for this job"
I’m going with “In the past I have given too much responsibility to junior staff. In one example they were overloaded with work, and did not get the job done right. I have worked to resolve this issue by making myself more available to my team, and letting them know they can feel comfortable approaching me about things they are not confident in doing.” Even though I am not applying for a management role, I think I’m using this.
Being honest about your weaknesses will put you in a place to take fewer punches and minimize being knocked off your path to success. Taking on the challenges of life, business, work, health, and family means you will have to take and throw a lot of punches. Thank you!
I feel that I'm so lucky to see your channel right before I have an interview for the job that I really want. I love the way you encourage the viewers a lot. Thank you so much for your ultimately useful videos. Love to see more of your videos in the field.
Good point Also some professional recruiter advice me that when you get ask questions, NOT necessarily your answers have to be "work related " when you haven't been in that scenario. You have to set your mind in -what you would do in that situation? Or -give answers in personal matters. There are plenty candidates out there, like you mentioned, without experience or not familiar in that area. The idea is to provide YOUR CORRECT engaging, actions to solve a problem...if we are talking about more advanced/senior knowledge is way different. Be realistic and embrace your capability to learn something new
I'm going to take an interview tomorrow, and that job is actually my dream job. I do hope I can land the offer!! Thanks for all your videos, which are really helpful!! Wish myself good luck!! :)
I once said in an interview that my weakness is that i have handwriting like a Doctor and it's dreadful. the interviewer looked at me and said my mom is a Doctor and i just laughed out LOUD " Said sorry for laughing " then the other 3 people Laughed... I got the job purely on that i think lol
My english ability may be biggest proplem at this moment, however that is a temporary proplem, I definetely will try my best to improve my english as fast as possible Thanks for making this video, it is very useful with me Good job
I am a hard worker which means I don’t always take breaks or stand around talking to my coworkers. And I am a perfectionist which means I am more thorough and therefore take longer than my coworkers that don’t pay attention or don’t care. So I might look slow and unsociable, even though I’m probably doing more work than them ( which makes me tired and a bit resentful). So these may not just be “strengths” but perceived weaknesses.
Also if anyone is asked to give a weakness & strength in the same question it helps to start with the weakness. It shows that you embraced the difficult question / challenge first while also ensuring that the last thing the employer heard was something positive about you
Think about a time you were criticized. It's hard for a strong minded person to notice their own weakness. Use that person's criticism of you or your work at any time in your life tell that story and tell how that criticism fuels you to kick but every day. Mamba style
I wish I had discovered your videos BEFORE I interviewed this week! They are very helpful and offer practical advice and tips that would have greatly helped me during my interviews. In addition, they are very well done - great job!
My last interview I was asked what my weaknesses were. I looked at him and told him, "the best way to know my weaknesses would be to contact a former supervisor". (As far as I am concerned, they are the best ones to ask that lame question.) BTW, the guy interviewing me laughed when I told him that. And he even offered me the job!
Here's the perfect answer to "What are your weaknesses"...... "I don't feel I have any weaknesses, but at the same time I understand that there is always room for improvement!"
I have an interview in about an hour from now and hadn't done one in like 3 years so I wanted to refresh my mind on some of the hardest questions they are. Thanks because these videos are helping
I had this question before and I got "C-" in my interview and felt like, I have been thrown under the bus! But now, I know how to tackle this question! Thank you Linda for your advice and your strategies to over come this twisted and confusing question!
Hi Linda! This is not only the most difficult, its the most important question to be asked. A friend of mine added if the interviewer ask this question. She stated to reply such as: "Glad that you asked that question!" So in turns the employer not on themselves, but on you. Thanks Linda for one of many great videos!
I don't mean to be rude but your answers are incredibly lengthy and I'm not sure how to shorten the answer in order to not sound robot or like I am repeating the answers.
i have so many terrible and chronic weaknesses. i'm slow and don't have a sense of urgency, therefore I'm terrible at time management and organization of tasks. I'm also forgetful. Sometimes i'm very attentive, but i feel like i'm mostly floating in space. I procrastinate SOOOOO much and I'm late 90% of the time. I'm also kind of awkward and can't speak well. I am not good at making others feel comfortable especially when I'm intimidated or unfamiliar with others. did I mention I procrastinate? A LOT? *sigh* i feel like crying in the corner of a dark cave... i never got great grades... my peak was in elementary and middle school and then it got worse later in high school and horrible in college... and now i'm older than everyone and have nothing going for me
Hiring managers and HR are tired of hearing strength in disguise. That used to work in 80's. Then I still hear some managers still advise some interns to use that strategy. I just heard that last week from my superior to give an advice to the outgoing intern using strength in disguise. I did not say anything to ruin my future. Good luck to that intern Your video is very helpful. We do show our weakness without hurting ourselves. Getting advice from you will do well on the interview 99%. It will not work on my supervisor and those people still live in the 80's. Thumbs up and subscribe
Rehearse your lines before you go. I don't think short answers help your case. I understand what you mean, I have headaches because my heart beats rises. But rehearsals helped me feel prepared
Hello Linda, I must say this is the best answer I have ever had regarding any interview. I was always torn apart as to which is truly a more logical and reasonable answer. I will be using this in the future. You are very clear, passionate, articulate and straight to the point. Thank you indeed! :)
1:30 I love you so much! I thought I was the only one who thought like that. All of the other videos told me to say “I work to hard” or “iam a perfectionist”
Your work in this channel is extraordinary, I was searching for some videos for a friend that is searching for a job. I have never seen such a concise and direct way to improve.
I knew there's a reason why I woke up in the middle of night. It's for me to go on UA-cam and see your videos. Golly! I have an interview coming up on Monday. This really helps. 😉
Thank you for addressing this question. I am very happy to finally get good and solid information on how to address the "weakness" question. Your explanation is very open and sounds very much accountable and confident that I would be a person that is always open to improving my professional development.
Thank you for making this video and laying out how to talk about weaknesses constructively and fairly. It used to be that whenever I had a job interview, I'd hope this was one of the last questions the interviewer asked. Talking about my flaws used to make me feel ashamed of my mistakes and guilty about my inadequacies, so this question was a turning point in every interview. My attitude became, 'I'm a screw-up, I don't deserve this interview, and I'm wasting this person's time,' so I hoped for the chance to answer other questions before this one. With your advice, I think I can improve the way I answer this question and the impact it has on my attitude. Thanks again.
I've watched several UA-cam channels about the same topic but your explanation and examples have made this more clear for me. Thank you, from 2 years in the future.
Since then I know my weakness I'm too perfectionist 😔 coz I'm afraid to get in trouble and I want everything to be perfect, in organize and everything is well done
My answer: We all have weakness and I am no exception. I get annoyed with people who do not keep their appointments. I also get annoyed when my boys do not take their career and family seriously. For instance I get annoyed when one fine morning I receive a call from one of my boys that he is not coming to office today especially when you having an important task to be accomplished for presenting in the meeting. This makes me to do the task all over again at the 11th hour requesting my boss to delay the meeting for 2 hrs. So now I have learnt not to depend on anyone and always have a back up plan for the same to avert the situation. Thanks, Regards.
extremely wordy and long winded over rehearsed responses. Simplify your answers. An interviewer wants to meet the "real" you, not a well rehearsed scripted studied and prepared response.
Right, but rehearsed answer also shows that you care about this position. I mean you put efforts into important things. Second, your answer must be well rehearsed instead of memorized. We tend to confuse the two
Most of the time, that question cannot be answered by interviewers or is wrongly answered. Thank you for elaborating on this. Actually got a job interview today and now I know what I really need to say when I'll be asked this 🙂
THANK YOU. You saved me. I have an interview in 2 hours for a customer service position and I almost decided my example for this question would be that I am overly ambitious with my work - not a good example at all because it says nothing about how I will work with clients in the work place.

your commentary on having a personal brand pretty much nails it!
I have worked to resolve this issue by making myself more available to my team, and letting them know they can feel comfortable approaching me about things they are not confident in doing.”
Even though I am not applying for a management role, I think I’m using this.
Trà My did you get it?
Trà My love to see you soon with some friends of the first time I puuurrred.
I will be able too be
I think you should re-do some of your videos. Such as "What are your weaknesses - Sample Answer *for people with little to no work experience.* "
Good point
Also some professional recruiter advice me that when you get ask questions, NOT necessarily your answers have to be "work related " when you haven't been in that scenario.
You have to set your mind in
-what you would do in that situation? Or
-give answers in personal matters.
There are plenty candidates out there, like you mentioned, without experience or not familiar in that area.
The idea is to provide YOUR CORRECT engaging, actions to solve a problem...if we are talking about more advanced/senior knowledge is way different.
Be realistic and embrace your capability to learn something new
Same 😭
yes exacly
Oh yes

I once said in an interview that my weakness is that i have handwriting like a Doctor and it's dreadful. the interviewer looked at me and said my mom is a Doctor and i just laughed out LOUD " Said sorry for laughing " then the other 3 people Laughed... I got the job purely on that i think lol

Wow. You put a lot of content into your videos. Don't stop. I would be interested to know, what is your weakness?
Andrew Beach fire
Andrew Beach ee
Her weakness is that she's too busy to read to your comment to let you know what her weakness is
You probs want something to do with her in a sexual way
@@daivikwadhwani4149 ahaha
No words to say. This video just helped me how to answer for a question about weakness.Thankyou Ma'm.
This has to be the very best explained suggested answer for this particular interview question I have ever heard AND 40+ years old. THANK YOU!!!
I used this strategy in an interview today and it worked out so well. Thanks for all your great videos & advice! :)
Also if anyone is asked to give a weakness & strength in the same question it helps to start with the weakness. It shows that you embraced the difficult question / challenge first while also ensuring that the last thing the employer heard was something positive about you
Amanda DeNardo that's great! I love this! Glad to hear it worked well for you!
thanks @amanda denardo
*Great advice Amanda!* 👍
Amanda DeNardo good job :)
What is my good weakness? You, Linda.
Think about a time you were criticized. It's hard for a strong minded person to notice their own weakness. Use that person's criticism of you or your work at any time in your life tell that story and tell how that criticism fuels you to kick but every day. Mamba style
One of my favorite interviews I’ve had because of your fill in the blank weakness question!
I wish I had discovered your videos BEFORE I interviewed this week! They are very helpful and offer practical advice and tips that would have greatly helped me during my interviews. In addition, they are very well done - great job!
This is one of the best in this genre I hope you to listen to all of your videos and get a new job soon, real soon, this week or next week.
Your videos are by far the most helpful! So practical!
Here's the perfect answer to "What are your weaknesses"......
"I don't feel I have any weaknesses, but at the same time I understand that there is always room for improvement!"
Andy Cordova nice ty
Andy Cordova , good one
you should make your own videos dude
wow! good job
Thanks this really helped an im so nervous cuz i have my interview today 🙄
I have an interview in about an hour from now and hadn't done one in like 3 years so I wanted to refresh my mind on some of the hardest questions they are. Thanks because these videos are helping
Hey there, how did it go? Did you get the job?
I had this question before and I got "C-" in my interview and felt like, I have been thrown under the bus! But now, I know how to tackle this question! Thank you Linda for your advice and your strategies to over come this twisted and confusing question!
Hi Linda! This is not only the most difficult, its the most important question to be asked. A friend of mine added if the interviewer ask this question. She stated to reply such as: "Glad that you asked that question!" So in turns the employer not on themselves, but on you. Thanks Linda for one of many great videos!
I don't mean to be rude but your answers are incredibly lengthy and I'm not sure how to shorten the answer in order to not sound robot or like I am repeating the answers.
skylar watkins true. Might bore the interviewer . But yet again. I got an interview in like 4 hours soooo
the following user says it is not an option
Better to write it down rephrase yourself
If you come across as a robot you'll surely get the job
Practice first so that you can come up with ways to make your answer concise.
Watching all your videos 4 hours before my appointment
hey there, how did you do on your interview?
What are your weaknesses?
I'm not good at interviews.
Thank you Linda Raynier. I watched many of your videos before my recent job interview. And I got the job using much of the advice that you had given.
i have so many terrible and chronic weaknesses. i'm slow and don't have a sense of urgency, therefore I'm terrible at time management and organization of tasks. A LOT? *sigh* i feel like crying in the corner of a dark cave... i never got great grades... my peak was in elementary and middle school and then it got worse later in high school and horrible in college... and now i'm older than everyone and have nothing going for me
Sounds like me.
K Julieeya Wow. It's like you read my mind or something.
how can i convince other very smart lookin people to hire me when i wouldnt even hire myself?
Don't feel bad about yourself. I have had the same struggles. Maybe get some counseling or read a self help book. The job placement office may help u.
Something to work on...practice interviews with yr family?
Hiring managers and HR are tired of hearing strength in disguise. That used to work in 80's. Then I still hear some managers still advise some interns to use that strategy. I just heard that last week from my superior to give an advice to the outgoing intern using strength in disguise. I did not say anything to ruin my future. Good luck to that intern
Your video is very helpful. We do show our weakness without hurting ourselves. Getting advice from you will do well on the interview 99%. It will not work on my supervisor and those people still live in the 80's.
Thumbs up and subscribe
Is there any short answer or short sentence? The longer I talk the more I get mistakes.
"I'm actually a very organized person, but you can't always tell from looking at my desk."
Rehearse your lines before you go. I don't think short answers help your case. I understand what you mean, I have headaches because my heart beats rises. But rehearsals helped me feel prepared
The more you talk, the less they notice
Same here..✋
HomelessOnline that’s a good one :)
Hello Linda, I must say this is the best answer I have ever had regarding any interview. I was always torn apart as to which is truly a more logical and reasonable answer. I will be using this in the future. You are very clear, passionate, articulate and straight to the point. Thank you indeed! :)
Carol Berlin I'm so glad you found this useful! You're welcome, let me know how it goes!
Hey Linda, I will let you know how it goes! :)
slow rock medley
Carol Berlin l am going to have a great time in my opinion
1:30 I love you so much! I thought I was the only one who thought like that. All of the other videos told me to say “I work to hard” or “iam a perfectionist”
Your work in this channel is extraordinary, I was searching for some videos for a friend that is searching for a job. I have never seen such a concise and direct way to improve.
Hi Lynda, what about a video on "what are your strenghts?"
Maria Chechi for your time in my case I need to get back with you
Thanks Linda for your support👍
_"What are Your Weaknesses?"_
I am extremely tolerant of cretinous questions.
loll
And the interviewer shall disregard you
So what if the intervpervert disreguards you why work for an asshole.
Hell yeah
I have the same thought, but am working on ways to convey my distaste for that question without torpedoing my chances of getting hired.
I knew there's a reason why I woke up in the middle of night. It's for me to go on UA-cam and see your videos. Golly! I have an interview coming up on Monday. This really helps. 😉
Lurker Linda’s brilliant!
Watching this bc I have an interview tomorrow and I’m nervous bc I really need this job 😩
Since then I know my weakness
I'm too perfectionist 😔 coz I'm afraid to get in trouble and I want everything to be perfect, in organize and everything is well done
I have interview in the following days. I'm glad I find this video. Thanks
Man this is tough... Maybe I should just make crystal meth like Heisenberg.. I could be earning serious money and be my own boss
hahahah u made my day
Your biggest weakness is people that don't use meth.
Good one👍😁
HHAHAHAHAHA jusko
smërt
This helped a whole lot. I'm praying I get this job I'm after.
I'm now my own boss , interviews have always been my weakness
No video for what are your strengths. But is the easier half of the question. Thank you for your video.
Say "Carbs" then hold your hand up for a high-5 saying "Who's with me?"
Did this - Got the job
We tend to confuse the two
@A Thank youuuuuu 👍
Most of the time, that question cannot be answered by interviewers or is wrongly answered. Thank you for elaborating on this.
Actually got a job interview today and now I know what I really need to say when I'll be asked this 🙂
Can I say overthinking would be one of my weaknesses ?
THANK YOU. You saved me. I have an interview in 2 hours for a customer service position and I almost decided my example for this question would be that I am overly ambitious with my work - not a good example at all because it says nothing about how I will work with clients in the work place.
I love de way u encourage us... All de best nd thanks ✋✋
Linda, You are well polished, and present a professional appearance! Thank you for the information!
B H Linda is amazing!
Hi Linda..Nice video,.Can you make a video to answer “Tell me about a time faced conflicts and how did you handle that?? “ ..That would be helpful..
Agreed!
I have an interview tomorrow and will come back with an update saying i got the job!
Hey there, how was the interview? Did you get it?
Thanks Linda. Can you also do a video about how to answer "what did you like about your last job?"
GigiLamoroso thanks for the suggestion! I'll keep that in mind and put that on my list. :)
Well done thxnk u good opportunity of staying
I love your explanations with a sentence by a sentence. Your videos are very helpful to English as a second language speakers.
JiYoun Par
Interviewer: What are your weaknesses?
Expected response: I am pathetically submissive and will be your personal slave and whipping boy.
😂😂😂😂
😂😂
😂😂
my heart is beating soo fast right now !
Smoking pot before the interview. A weakness.
swankrecords lol
Me rn
I've always had no idea how to respond to this question, but now I feel like I actually have something decent to say. So, thanks!
Linda is shyness is a weakness , and if is what do you tell them that your improving to get better at it?
Angel H I recommend elaborating on how you are doing certain social things to get outside of your comfort zone and to ensure growth and confidence
shyness is a personality trait. don't mention that.
