Great review. The reason some alternatives are cheaper is because they are lined in fabric. The Longchamp Le Foulonne is lined in polyester. So there is a bit of a quality difference from that standpoint.

I've recently discovered the Spanish bags which are to die for! I try to remain ahead of the herd. I don't need status symbols to reinforce a fragile ego. I love the simplicity of The Rows bags. No tight fits please. The complex open is anti theft my dear. I always think of stiff structured bags as "church" formal. I still love Kate Spade and always prefer to be able to remove the long strap. I don't like bags that look masculine.
