The subtitles are very reassuring, starting at 00:15 with "we don't do many electric pants on the Filly charged show" 😆
Well spotted 😂
I read your comment as he said it and I really did think that was what he said!
@@androo4519 I heard "we don't do many electric fans" 😛

THANK GOODNESS FOR CC, THE FRIGGIN' LOUD MUSIC ON MOST FULLY CHARGED VIDEOS MAKES ME WATCH MUTED WITH CC.
It would make a good ice cream van
or milk float
I fear it's a tad too low for that. Same reason why you don't generally see Citroën Berlingo ice cream vans.
Only for those who can get pain-relief injection directly into their spine once a week.
theres a reason you don't see ice cream vans running recent vans
I swear I am getting deja vu from seeing this vid. I am sure it is an old vid that has been reposted.
Didn't stop me watching again! I just love the design and light weight, just sad we'll never see one in Canada 😢
covered 4 years ago on the 2nd podcast channel.
Jonny covered on late brake show, also guy martin covered and it also did a tour around the UK with the BBC i think it was, this was a year or so ago
I got the same feeling. Jonny Smith did a similar review/first drive on his own channel ~11 months ago, which I think is why.
99.99% sure this isn't a repost unless Jack was wearing hair extensions for this one shoot!
seen plenty of videos on it over the last few years. its just vaporware
I agree, I felt I had watched this exact review ages ago - but the 'timeline for production' section refers to 2024 as 'this year'.
Needs to have a bulkhead behind the seats. Last thing you want when you hit the brakes is a 1T pallet hurtling towards the rear of your head? That 6.5 cubic metre of space will shrink as well as weight increasing.
Love the design.
I suspect that would be a legal requirement if it ever makes it to production bin a honesty I can’t see too many of these lugging pallets around. They’re way too niche.
@@hughmarcus1but there are great markets for them outside of the delivery market. Campervans are the ideal target.
@@adrianlane4256 nope, cost.
It’s probably the only vehicle ever designed that chills you out when you drive it, it’s such a throwback from the past, it’s so charming.
This was unveiled 4 years ago and is still just a prototype. I fear it will never see the light of day.
And they're going forward.
Pretty sure if FCS covered it, it's not vaportech
They show vaporware all the time @@thaphreak
I'm getting distinct Deja-Vu vibes from this... wasn't this van covered a year or two ago?
At least three years ago,and it's changed a fair bit in styling,to no advantage, that I can see.
Same vid as far as I can remember on that private estate.
Exactly my thought as well. I had to search for it, and i was thinking of Johnny from Late Brake Show, who did a video almost like-for-like of this 11 months ago. Doesn't really look like that much progress has been made... 😅
Yep, and it's still going to cost about a million pounds if it ever appears on the market.
Yeah, it's disappointing to see more repetition from the Fully Charged team
I really hope they can make these and sell them in sufficient numbers to make the venture worthwhile. I can see it appealing to people in certain niches, but not widely, as I’m sure the headline price will rule them out for most business users. Please may I be proved wrong on this - best of luck, Morris. PS please try one in GPO khaki green, it would look so cool.
I'm such a sucker for things like this! BRING BACK THE OLD!!!
Same here!
but new!
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be
Hah, im exactly opposite. I hate things like that but glad there is stuff for everyone
And petrol!
Brilliant 1950s styling. Really attractive.
I'm a full time artist and currently drive a Nissan ENV200 40kw electric van to all my exhibitions. I would absolutely love something this, it would work so well for many artists. We often camp in our vans at exhibitions too. Icsmp in my ENV200, but would love a camper version of this van! 😍
Edit: I would also love it if you folks covered vans more often! They may be boring to you, but are very interesting to me, as someone who drivesan EV van and wants to upgrade someday.
My dad had one of the original vans, he was a carpet fitter and filled it with carpet and flooring as his work van. He said it drove like a boat 🤣🤣 So I hope this new chassis is designed a lot better than that.
i love them Jack and couldn't agree more, along with the minibus and pick up they have to release a camper, prettiest E thing i've seen
Oh so nice to see a new British vehicle, and it’s very attractive too. Well done
I saw these at the Fully Charged show last year. I told the guys from the company that I now needed to think of a business idea that needed a van so I would have a reason for buying one
Thank you Tim...we remember, that's a great line!
Love the look of this van. I find the 2025 delivery timeline to be utterly unlikely. Given they don't even have a factory yet, I think we're simply being exposed to Musk-style optimism.
Oh nooo not optimism. God forbid we not be cynical and angry 24/7.
That is what I want all my deliveries to show up in. Awesome beautiful job!
Sorry but vans have had the names and logos of their owners painted on them since long before they had engines. To suggest that advertising on vans was a new idea in the 1950s is ludicrous. 30 seconds of searching will find thousands of images of commercial vehicles with advertising going back to at least the early 19th century!
Me: "That's a face only a mother could love"
Jack: "Not just a pretty face"
Absolutely perfect! Too bad you couldn’t export those to the US. You all need all the exports you can get.
Love to have the pickup version here in Eastern Washington!
It would be awesome to see this in the US. Manufacturing is a big challenge, but wouldn't it be great to see a factory in the US, or have another company build it under license, for the North American market?
Not sure whether they'd convince package delivery to opt for these over e.g. Sprinter, Transit, etc. Doesn't have quite the same volume, but much better efficiency/range might count for something. But lots of smaller mobile businesses, tradespeople, etc. would find these useful and maybe lower cost of ownership. Besides, as noted you can't beat the visual appeal.
i like the idea, but design wise, i would have done a modern retro look, like what VW done to the Beatle, or the Ora cat
So nice of Bobby to let you use his front yard for filming.
Bjorn is going to need a LOT more banana boxes for testing.
Was that an electric lawn mower at 6:16 ?
was hoping for an update, not a repeat
LOVE IT! They're absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
It's nice that they are continuing development, but this year the Nissan Interstar ( Renault Master E-tech ) will enter the market with a payload of 1600kg and an 87kWh battery. Also Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro-e- e and Citroën Ë-Jumpy with a payload of over 1100 kg are already on the market. So it's an interesting idea, but they had already lost their main advantage before they hit the market.
You could probably pay someone a couple of grand to slap some bits of bulbous glass fibre and chrome on one of those to make it old-timey for nostalgia / advertising.
Is that an electric lawnmower @6:15? Also, slow down the speed to ½ and Jack sounds just like your mate down the pub!
Very curious where the feedstock for the recycled carbon fiber monocoque comes from. I didn't know that there was much waste/end of life carbon fiber product in the market that would be suitable for recycling. Interesting!
Aircraft being scrapped I would imagine. You'd be surprised how short the lifespan of modern aircraft can be. Wind turbine blades ?
Loved the potential of this when there was just the blue van concept. It has been a few years now. Some things take a while. Not everybody can move as fast as Tesla and BYD. I sat in the pink one at last year's Farnborough venue of the Fully Charged show. I left it desperately hoping for a Camper, but even more that this van succeeds.
I've loved this van for ages and the thing isn't even being made yet. But they have stated and according to the web site still state that the thing will start from around £60,000. You kind of have to be really sure of the advertising boost this van might give you when a BUZZ cargo starts at £43,541 and a Nissan Townstar starts at £33,995.
I was wondering how much these would cost.
That's the end of that then!
This vehicle has already been covers by fully charged, it’s been in development for years now.
Unfortunately I do don’t think it will ever make production. SAIC LDV have there finger in this pie.
Good to see you back Jack, thought that little Imogen had stolen your thunder mate, but I should of guessed you would be waiting in the wings to bring a real gem out of the closet, so to speak! The truth will be in the pudding on this one, let me have one of these Morris Vans for a month on my Royal Mail delivery round and we will see just how good this van is!!
The "Royal Mail" used to use a great many of these back in the day, when they were new................
If they made a camper version I would buy it immediately!
PLEASE PLEASE MAKE A CAMPER VERSION!
Beautiful characterful charming light commercial vehicle, proper head turner, wishing them a huge success.🇬🇧
It was new in 1949...................
I’m not sure about the value of reviewing a preproduction model but I was impressed by the quality of the video - moving seamlessly from the view from a leading to a side camera car without distracting from the audio. 👏👏
You are a Bit Late to this - The JE was formally unveiled on 13 November 2019, with production announced to commence in 2021 with an expected price of around £60,000.
No point to give a full review but can compare a van that's not ready to one that's already on the road and sold? I get the feeling this video is just to drum up investment with funds running low given they haven't gotten it onto the road in the years since it was last "not" reviewed.
I think it was more to shame VW who took way too long to bring an underwhelming product to market.
Had my Buzz for a year now. Brilliant vehicle, not remotely underwhelming.
The design is underwhelming for a lot of people. Having seen one in the flesh, in a supermarket, the plain white one, I must stay I agree. Two tone version probably look better. @@forestmog2478
Do you mean "in the metal"?..........@@DavidKnowles0
love this thing. i hope to see a bunch of these plying the roads, doing service
In the early 1960s my father had an original j type van, which he converted into a bus using a hand drill and a hacksaw to cut the openings for the windows! He went to a London bus breakers to get the seats. Really pleased to see this modern version.
Thank you another well presented program. The Highlander PS kindness is always free.😊
Absolutely neat concept.
Sadly, they will not make the US market.
And that's just depressing. I would just love owning one of these. I wouldn't even care about what color 😊❤
That is a positive thing. So bad quality, so you don't need it.
Not a lot of nostalgia for us.
I would love to see these around, doing the last mile deliveries we have need.
Wondering how much the camper version is going to weigh once they sort out all the rattling.
It looks awesome but I true wondered about the banging noise 😢
i remember in the 50s these used to bring the school dinners
And the post and the GPO engineers.............
what a joy! I hope it can come at an accessible price for small businesses
Sadly it won't, it has a carbon fibre body after all. They are saying starts at £60k atm.
Love this!
That van would make a design mobile design studio
Did we not see the EV Bedford Vans, around 1 year ago. Back then, they were "in development"... So other than a refresh to bring this back to our minds, where are we really?
Agree,styling aids from Morris vans.
Yeah I was hoping for some details of their manufacturing site, that would have shown that their progress being made, seems a bit strange these plans were shown to Jack but not to us.
Secret manufacturing plant in China probably
@DavidKnowles0 From what I remember over 1yr ago they were £70k upwards
@@thomasbstudio May be but SAIC might be looking at trying a European/UK manufacturing given how big MG has grown over the last few years.
This is a piece of art. Can't wait to see it on the road.
9:13 Gotta love that good ol English build quality 😂
WHAT. A. FUNNY. CAR!!! Greets from Germany
I used to work on these J vans in the 60’s when they were used as bread vans and general deliveries.
Cute side view. Front isn’t a looker is it. Feels like the grille is upside down.
❤ I love it, would to have a camper version, really impressed well done
The creeper’s van. Jeepers Creepers
You can laugh now jack, sounds like my clapped out Allegro in the 80s. Leave it to the Chinese, they know what they're doing😂
Always good to have a variety of vehicles and approaches to making them.
I do appreciate their go local as much as possible approach. Tesla tries to do the same thing, so I think that shows it is a good idea.
Not trying to be the most advanced EV is smart as well. I value Aptera, but they have been through many peaks and vallies over the past decade because they were basically trying to reinvent the passenger vehicle. As viewers of this channel probably already know, we might actually see a few deliveries this year. I can believe this van might get delivered to customers next year because they trying to keep it simple.
I wish them well and hope thosr who buy them have a very positive experience.
Good to see Jack back. Thought we had another Kate Middleton scenario on our hands!
😂😆
Brilliant, wish them success🙏
I would absolutely like one of those!
Been feeling empty all day. Finally realised why thanks to you: no parcel delivery 😢.
As many others have said and have seen, these vehicles have been around for a couple of years. I am concerned about the rapid timeline that appears to be being promised. To build and open a production facility and complete production prototypes and homologation will take 18 months to two years. So not 2025 more like spring summer 2026.
I want one of these as a camper van
They need to make it a proper cabover and scoot the seats up to the windscreen, it would get the same or better cargo volume as the ID buzz
Back in 2019 when it was touted to be up and running by 2021, the running gear was, (perhaps still is) based on the Nissan Leaf. And it’s expected price back then was £60,000. The reg plate on the blue van was JE57 TPE; just as it is now. Ok, it’s parent company went bust but SAIC bought the Morris brand; and it would seem the existing stock of two vans.
But it would be nice if SAIC could get it to production. Though I feel is going to be a niche market. Especially if it’s got a CHAdeMO charge port.
SAIC has done well with MG, and I here that
Good luck, Morris will need it.
Interesting, yet you can already buy a Buzz. (The Buzz is not cheap though, so pricing of this van will be interesting.) Final question: Does it take a sheet of 8x4, the genius Transit test?
Would be great if it existed…
Need to get this to Australia for all delivery services!
Beautiful. I want one.
I love this! I wish Morris the best of success with this although I hope an American company makes one for its market. Congrats to the designers!
Wonderful !
Some windows down the side of the JE version and it can become a mini camper that is too cool for words.
Noticed on the orginal van the address Upper Norwood SE 19, I lived in that area as a boy in Crown Dale.
I love the looks -- but sounds rattlely going down the road.
I want the Truck👍
Love this truck!
Jack Jack Jack, it's not a BAT-TREE, it's a ba-TTerY ❤
Can you get a sheet of 8x4 plywood in the back if yes I want 2 of these vans
I can see this in red as the new royal mail van
They need to do this, it would get so many shares online.
Actully somebody Photoshop this.
The original ones were used by Royal Mail in the 1950s along with Morris Minor vans which were still in use up to the 1970s.
That would be a great USA or Canadian mail van, with right hand drive.
Would be great as a camper or delivery van in Oz, why not throw a big 100kwh lfp battery in and some solar on the roof, would really help us get over the Nullarbor dessert.
Is the location the manor where kingsmen agents are trained?
There are literally, dozens, ok maybe not dozens, but um, threes! threes! of people that would pay this much for a funny boutique van like this.
I want this as a bus. I want it NOW!
Looking particularly foppish today, Jack.
So cool
I'd love one of these as a small camper, but I guess it will be over priced and unaffordable for the average Joe.
Love it....
The number of quite well off hippies waiting for a cool practical electric camper van is more than you'd think so it's great to see a British classic that could easily be fitted out with a bed and storage. The eco credentials are an extra bonus.
Those are super cute.
I want to know more about the rear doors on that pink van - are they sliding around the rear pillars? Doesn't look like they're simply clamshell doors like you might expect.
I want to sleep in a van like that.
Cracking minimalist camper.
I love it, and that Morris is the Morris. 🎉
We saw this a while ago, I think its great but it's also a shame our hopeless government cant provide a bit of support for enterprises like this to get it beyond the prototype stage.
Love them
The mass value seems redundant when it is only a prototype. It will surely be heavier when the inside is sorted to stop the rattles the suspension etc is fixed?
would love to see these as campers!
Yes. more vans!
Were there not horse drawn wagons in the UK with company names plastered on the side of them? I find it hard to believe that the original version of this van "pioneered" the idea of plastering your company logo on the side of the body when in the US they were doing that on horse drawn wagons day one, and they were definitely doing it on gas powered wagons day one.
I love it - hurry up and get it to market.
How does it have a carbon fibre monocoque when it already has an aluminium chassis?
Great delivery vehicle. Should sell well all over Europe. Love it.
The post office, UPS, FedEx and Amazon should all look into this and perhaps invest in production.
