My favorite rocker of all time. Thank you Phil for writing VOTWW , is my fave song. I have had a few dreams where I get to say that to you and its always brilliant
@@newavatar2947 (I had to create a new YT account, but I'm Alan, the guy who loves VAGABOND) wow!! I'm glad I led you to that song. Sorry I said "VOTTW" instead of "Vagabond of the western world" . Lol I've been obsessed with that song since late 2012 and I still can't get enough of it !!
@@phillynott2459 I can't say its my favorite. In fact I used to skip it but you lead me into listening to the entire song and now I really enjoy it. Plus it was released in my birth year 1973!
@@newavatar2947 awesome! Glad you like it better now. I was born in '75 and I think I like rock from that era the best. What is your favorite song on Vagabonds album, or favorite TL song overall? 😊
@@phillynott2459 I like Bad Rep, Black Rose and Thunder are my top 3. My fave song is probably Southbound from Bad Reputation. The last minute and a half give me chills some 30 years after discovering the song.
this was an interesting period for Thin Lizzy, in my eyes. The Chinatown album is good . it gets shade thrown at it because there is no "boys are back in town" but who cares, the songs have some of that 80's heavy metal production to them, which I like. There are very good songs, like the title track, Killer on the Loose, Having a Good time, etc....
Wow your younger than me. I was 7.They played here on May 26,1979 here in Fresno, California supporting Journey 2 days before my 6th birthday. It was the second to last gig Lizzy had with Gary Moore in the band!
I like songs by Every single thin lizzy guitarist even the midge period .. snowy gets some stick ..live he wasnt up there with the others in some ways...but chinatown is a great album...to me the guy that dont get talked about is infact the main guy....scott gorham... its always every one else..i love the brian ..gary ..eric...and i love the sykes period ..that gets slated some times...they was a great band from eric onwards...even his solo stuff over the years ive learnt to love....phil did allsorts of styles..he really was a gifted musician
Thing is, with Lizzy, they relied on single success back then, and the charts were certainly stronger and more dynamic. A band cold shift a few hundred thousand copies of a single back in the day. That's a nice little earner which also pushed the record, though Chinatown tailed off lively enough upon release. It was a huge drop off from Black Rose. It lacked that fiery spirt that Robbo and Moore brought.
Never put a bad album out❤️

Thanks for getting me into that song. I feel like I've communicated with Phil beyond the grave as well

The greatest , best ! Phil you're loved ♥️🤘
Couldn't agree more with him. Chinatown, the crown-jewel on their discography.
Jailbreak was the best
@@uncleambient I like NIGHTLIFE and FIGHTING better than jailbreak.
Great song writer, bass player,Phil was an amazing artist

Side one is classic Lizzy, one of thier best album sides. Side two sounds unfocused.
I was in kindergarten during this interview. I wish I was aware of Thin Lizzy when I was 5

"A child's Lullaby" is a fucking great song. I love the chords and melodies and the irish-y sounding instrument at the beginning.
This is great. Thankyou for sharing
It’s a pity Gary Moore as a solo artist never toured Australia.

What an album that was. I didn’t understand the heat that Snowy took in later years. I thought he was a fantastic player.
Snowy is was a great player even In Thin Lizzy he was a little stiff that’s all 😊✌️
Was this filmed in Melbourne or Sydney's Chinatown district?
It's in the description- Sydney's!
China Town is probably my least favorite out of their 80’s albums. Renegade being the best followed by Thunder and Lightning.
Thunder and Lightning was shit.
@@mjh5437 Thunder and lightning was a hard rock masterpiece

In 1980 he must have been the only white man in the whole of Sydney lol
