Episode 3: • DIY Jeep Tj Vacuum lea...
Episode 4: • SOLVED! Jeep Wrangler ...
Explained in prior videos but to summarize: Jeep was throwing cylinder 3 misfire and rough idling + stuttering with slow acceleration, normal at higher RPM. Here is everything that has been done:
Compression test - all normal
Leak down test - all normal
Replaced coil - no difference
Replaced plugs - no difference
Replaced fuel injectors - no difference
Did fuel rail test: normalish
Noid light test - normal
Replaced cam position, throttle position, and intake charge air temp sensors - no change
Placed insulation on cylinder 3 in case its heat soak - no difference
Now throwing cylinder 1 misfire. I appreciate all help. What should i try next? Replace spark plugs (even though gap is fine + they are 5k miles old?) Replace o2 sensors? Map sensor? Thank you so much!
Ok here are some things to do. Simple stuff first.
1. Swap spark plugs 2 and 3. Check to see if misfire moves to cylinder 2. If it does, bad spark plug.
2. Put a multimeter on injectors. See if #3 doesn't match ohms for the rest. If it doesn't. Then bad injector.
3. Swap injector 3 and 2. If misfire moves to the other cylinder. Bad or plugged injector. If it doesn't, possible plug in fuel rail to number 3.
Thank you for the comment! We figured out the issue! Be sure to check out the final video in the series, link is in the description
I did everything new still happening
I didn’t see anyone mention coil rail. Mine was cylinder number six misfire and it was really running bad. Had new spark plugs, replaced the coil rail, and it runs better than ever.
Have you checked spark?
And fuel?
That hose wont work. It will collapse on itself when hot. Get at least the reinforced blue stuff
Thanks for the comment. Will replace spark plugs and get back to you. I'll replace the hose too. Thanks for letting me know

Dorman makes repair kit for your stock plastic pipe, just replaces the rubber ends. 10 bucks
Yeah cyl 3 is heat soak from hot vaporized gas- get heat shield for fuel rails etc.
whats the thread for the spark plug hole?
Have you changed spark plugs, cleaned out the throttle body? BTW the clear hose isn't going to cut it for the breather, it'll get hot and end up distorting, use some automotive hose.
Thanks for the comment. I'll replace the spark plugs even though they are pretty new and have normal gaps. Tb is cleaned. Thanks for the tip, will change out that clear hose
Had the same problem it was bad connection in the ecm plugs
Thanks for sharing
Do you have a part number for the original oem hose that you replaced? Mine recently cracked and I haven't been able to find it anywhere
I’m going through the same scenario right now, rough idle and same cylinder code getting thrown. I’ll give the vacuum lines a try and it’s a long shot commenting on such an old video but did you find out what happened?
Yes we did! It was a spark plug! Even though they were brand new. We actually made a full series, check out the follow up videos for more info
What fixed it I have same problem
It’s your intake /exhaust Gasket leak . For that miss-fire .
THanks for the comment..it wasnt//check out the latest videos to see what it was
Is that really it I felt it was but dam mechanic say no
Is that the original motor in the jeep with 260,000 miles
Sure is
