- Taking a look at performing a visual approach. That's right, no ILS, no other types of navigation. All pilots have to be able to land using their eyes as their navigation tool and I hope I can help you learn that.

Even though this video is 11 years old, it’s still useful for flying. Thanks!
Nobody fly ILS :) I fly with ILS only if I have to go on the loo :-)
Once again a very good Tutorial!
You make awesome tutorials, but I really like the plane of the month. Hope you do one for August.
Awesome video! You probably already knew this, but if you didn't:
Most heavy aircraft (atleast the 747, A330s and A380 have it... I don't know about the 777) have max flap extension and optimum flap extension speeds shown next to the speed tape on the PFDs. Like in this video, you should see a red bar near the speed tape above the top bar and an orange line a few knots below the bottom of the red bar. It's recommended that you extend the next flap at the orange line, but NOT when... continued
Still an excellent video in 2021! Thanks! Is there a hot-key for flaps? I have trouble flying the plane and looking around the cockpit for a lever. :-)
That's true in India, I hear the gear extension sound at around 1500 to 2000 ft but During my BA 747-400 landings (recently) at Heathrow and Phoenix, they extended the flaps well over 4000 ft. That's probably to get the plane stabilized before entering the glide-slope.
I find it quite easy to land the Beechcraft B1900D on a visual approach. Heck, I'm 12 and I can easily land one of these babies!
Very nice tutorials. Very usefull tips but could u make a A380 video pls.
Very nice flying, Oscar! Do people know that you're a real pilot in real life? Next time you fly over to the US, please stop by. Save trips my friend!
Tim :)
On many airliners it is. But it heavily depends on the type of plane you're using!
but NOT when your speed is IN the top red bar! That means you're over the current flap extension speed. The bottom red bar is your stall speed, so just maintain your speed between the 2 red bars and your're good. In most cases, at-least for the A330, full flaps is required for a good landing. The 747-400 too required full flaps but be very careful with your extension speeds here. As for the A380, the 2 or 3 notches of flaps are best for the landing, full flaps may cause too much drag... Cheers!
Very informative. Trying to work all this out from scratch in this program is not fun!!
Another great video mate! Since you're using the A330 (and the other planes) I suppose your FG is working again :)
Wow, nice!
hey.. oscar. will you please make one video about a the ADI failure? i always crash aboutit
Please help. I'm new to Flightgear and my scenery does not look like that. How did you get that?
Can you teach me how to use the autopilot settings menu when it is more complicated, like in a B777-200ER? I never get it to work right :(
thank you
I always land on the sea whenever i use the position aircraft in air tool
Can you make videos in GEFS?

hi there oscjag ever plane i drive before i takeoff it turns to the right and goes crazy leaving me with no controls can you please help me and atell me what to do please?
Now you can takeoff the plane?
in real life, I see pilots start lowering the landing gear while they are 4.57 nautical miles from touchdown, I can say this because my house is exactly 4.6 nm from runway touchdown :-)
Hey Oscar! just wondering about the downloads, are they compatible with windows?cause I downoaded for windows 8 for flight gear 3.0and for some reason I can't find it when I scroll down. Please reply and keep up the good work!
never mind they're ALL THE WAY DOWN THE BOTTOM!! away from all the other airbus and boeing titles! LOLS so that explains everything! =D
Me too, I never figured out how to.
@osjcag how to find a carrier for the f14

First god damnit!
I only want to buy prepar3d
How to up your nose i dont know help me
When your about 20 feet above the runway, put the throttles in idle, then lift the nose. This will prevent the plane from gaining altitude. Btw, lifting the nose for landing is called flaring
+KeithVsGames Yap.... You're right... I have been playing FlightGear for almost 3 years... How about you? :)
Suzuki Hitoshi 2 years on FlightGear, 3 on FSX :)
Ok! That's great...
