Man, you are the best of the best, you helped me incredibly, not only in creating a car, but in general understanding how to create any mesh. Thank you so much !!!
Just finished my wheel and it looks great! Would love some more vehicle related videos. Also you should do a reaction video to the new Gran Turismo trailer that just dropped :D
I really appreciate the tutorial! I was able to follow every step even tho I work in Blender. But as you say the techniques described in your videos can apply to any software.
@@salemmelas4515 I changed the transform snapping(the magnet icon at the top of the UI and a menu should drop down when you click.) to "face". This allows you to model the tire tread while conforming to the base cylinder. After modeling the tire tread I created an array modifier with 72 instances controlled by an empty and rotated that empty 5 degrees. Also don't forget to apply the scale and make sure the origin of the tire tread is the same as the 3D cursor. This so you won't get any issues when using the array modifier. Lastly, I cleaned up the geometry by adjusting, moving vertices along the normal, and merging vertices that needed to be merged. Hope this helps and let me know if you need a little more clarification.
Best tire modeling tutorial ever.. You have one new big fan 😊... Can you please share your reference board? It's hard to find the exact pictures and I want to follow along please 🙏
Great Video! Hands down, the best way of modeling tires I have seen! Will apply this technique on future projects for sure! Thanks for sharing this! Just one question (you lost me on the math part :) ) "360 / 72" - where is that 72 coming from? Thanks!
Thank you so much for your tutorials! I have one possibly stupid question, but... In this video and in the previos one (Rim creation) you said "It doesn't have to be 100% perfect" (the precise copy). So my question is: why does it have no need to be the exact copy? And the second question is: could you please cite a situation when we have to recreate the absolute copy? Thank you!
It comes down to the need and context. For VFX, it needs to be close where it looks like a "digital twin" but does not need to be accurate down to the millimeter. For that type of accuracy, CAD would need to be used. This is based on my experience after working in the CGI industry for over a decade. Hope it helps!
is it just me or is it true that modeling in maya is a little harder than most of the other 3d software like max or even blender is wayyyyyy easier now?
Why not just undistort the photography in Photoshop? Would be much simpler than trying to guess the placement and angles against a photo that has lots of barrel distortion. Also, you might want to do some self analysis on repetition of rhetoric...You use the word "here" like 800 times throughout the video

Great to see how other people use the tools. You've shown a couple of techniques that will improve my skill set. Thanks.
I discovered this channel yesterday and am like why didn't I discover it way back when i was just beginning 3D modelling. Very Educative thanks.
from Japan.
You are awesome. Very informative video.
I can't believe this is free!
Thanks for the tutorial man, I have never seen yet this type of clean topology tutorial.
Glad it was helpful!
Very nice version of a tire tread. Well explained and smartly produced.
Thank you. As a beginner finally found something awesome and simply simple tutorial about maya as and learnt a lot.
Glad to hear that, always happy to help!
man I can't thank you enough for this awesome tutorial. You are the best !!!
Thank you, glad this helped!
Thank you! Amazingly simpler version of making a tire tread, I love the quad draw process especially!
Glad it was helpful!
Your tutorials are amazing and sharing your workflow is so cool man.
Thank you, glad you found them helpful!

you saved my so much of time. Thanks a lot.

Can't wait for Gran Turismo 6 and Forza Motorsport games to come out!
How do you Uv unwrap the side wall? How to you lay it out in a straight line to put text on it?
The instance trick Really is genius, thank you!
Glad you found it helpful!

What tools you used to get similar result in blender ?

@@Designerkhi thank you a lot i really appreciate your explanation, ill try to follow it along.
This video was awesome. You make the best videos. Maybe you could tackle modelling a complex gun? maybe a scifi one. Thanks and all the best.
Thank you, I plan to more prop modeling soon! Thanks for the suggestion
Looks stunning!
Thank you!
@@OnMars3D Ever thought about adding some interactivity? It might be a nice user-driven rendering.
For the multi-cut tool you can also press Alt-Shift-X.
Is that a default HotKey for Multi-Cut, because it doesn't work when I try it in Maya 2020.

Glad you found this helpful! I just did a google search for the tire and pulled the images from the tire website.
All your tutorials are hot!!!!!!!!!
Appreciate it!

Happy to help! The 72 degrees is coming from 360/5 since there is 5 repeatable rim stems for this wheel.
very cool
thank you
That's awesome!

No problem, thanks for watching!

Although I select quad draw, it cannot be selected all but only surface 1. How can it be selected all?
You need to enable "Instance" in the Duplicate Special settings, not "Copy"
Thank you. Let me try
How do making metal part
I have the video here: ua-cam.com/video/onZ5NQvtF1A/v-deo.html
unwrap and uv map of tire threads will be difficult
Nope, you just need to unwrap the original instance of tread which is 5 simple pieces. The UVs will then apply to the rest of the instanced tread.

Boolean +quad remesh=done
