What is the name of the blue?
Hi Amy, I am a Luthier and I have a few antique/distressed finishes on a few of my creations. I LOVE doing wormholes in everything and adding deep scratches. My next build, which lead me to this video of yours, is going to be, (I know this probably sounds crazy, but that's me), a guitar built from an old door with the doorknob hole and latch bolt sticking out. I definitely want to antique it, but I was thinking something more along the line of what you present here. I usually do French polish with shellac, which is great to work with. I am able to make it look like glass, or even give it a matte waxed looking finish. Do you think this technique you present here would work for a musical instrument?
Question?? I have a beautiful piece I want to do this on, can I just use a deglosser and clean slate then start with the milk paint. I don't want a solid "color" underneath. I would like the wood to show in several areas.
Are you able to add a gold guilding wax over the top of this technique if your using on a furniture piece that has mouldings on it
Hello Nicole, Yes! No matter how you’re going to use your gilding, all you’ll need is some Gilding Size and your choice of leaf. Amy Howard at Home offers copper, silver, and gold leaf options, so choose whichever one compliments your piece best. You may also refer to this video ua-cam.com/video/Z7DnPTECbEM/v-deo.html
Hi Amy, I adore this finish and love Milk Paint. I find your channel very informative. However, I’m in the UK so can only get Miss Mustard Seed products near me. What are the bases of the antiquing glaze that I maybe able to replica in the range I can get as I would love to do this effect.
where do you sell the book dear?
#replay. One of the most interesting tips on milk paint. A great refresher lesson!
Glad it was helpful!
Karen Kibler Houston TX - If I want to do this to a really old chest, how do you keep the color simular to the rest of the furniture? Or do I want the color to look identical?
I am new to your site, do I do this process to the entire piece of furniture? My chest of drawers is solid oak, it will be hard for me to turn it on the side and all around?
Thank you very much.
Your product is amazing
Mrs. Amy tell Ms. Elena to have a piece of tempered glass made to fit her dining room table that's clear, she will be able to have the finish and protect it.
If I want to use this effect on a table that has already been painted, can I apply the One Step paint in a solid color replicating the natural wood and then sponge on the light color Milk Paint and be able to achieve the same effect?
So so good Amy !! This milk paint finish is the creme de la creme !! ❤️❤️❤️
After you do all these techniques mentioned in the video....after the waxing, can you come back in and use the stencils over it with the gel paint? Or do have to stencil before waxing?
Wax is most often your last step, so you will need to stencil before waxing!
@@amyhowardathome Thank you for replying.
I can’t wait to use this method on two new nightstands. Awesome!
