Izzy that quilt backing and quilt itself is beautiful! I'm thinking about Vlogmas too. I love both behind the scenes and tutorials! Have a blessed weekend and happy sewing.
The Ladera dress is a nice looking dress❤ your top looks lovely as well as your quilt. I have so many unfinished projects staring at me including my quilt. When project dressagirl is over I have some major catching up to do 😂
Isn’t that dress beautiful? I’m so excited about making one for the office. You have been incredibly busy with PDAG so give yourself a break! Those unfinished projects will be there when you’re ready to get back to them. 😘
Isn’t it crazy how much being in the office is so much more exhausting than working from home….and for me I am so much more productive at home: how did we do it pre-covid 5-6 days a week? Beautiful blouse. I look forward to seeing both frocktales dresses! I had to laugh at the work bathroom picture. I do the same thing. LOL! Enjoy you last weekend at the island.
I’m really trying to focus on the positives when it comes to RTO - I get to move a little bit more, I’m downtown which is always fun, I get to see colleagues and I have access to « real » shops which is going to be pretty good for the holiday season. But yeah, I’m exhausted at the end of the day and can’t believe I used to do that 5 days a week AND travel for work for one week each month!! The bathroom at work has a really huge mirror which is perfect for pictures LOL I should, however, wait for the cleaning staff to clean that mirror before taking pictures. I noticed that picture has some spots in it 🤣
Love the Remy top in that fabric, and the coat as well is perfect! It's amazing how well that backing fabric coordinates with the quilt top when it wasn't planned that way - talk about luck! Whitney's Ladera dress had me wanting one as well - I don't really wear or make dresses very often, but I'd make an exception for that one! One of these days...looking forward to seeing the one you make!
Thank you so much Mary! I feel the same way about the Ladera - I don’t make or wear dresses very much, but this one is just too good to pass up I think. Plus it’ll just be so nice for work.
Your top looks gorgeous on you- the colours really work. So pleased the spray starch worked for the buttons. I use it all the time on viscose fabrics- especially the small pieces. Like you, cannot believe the summer (what summer in UK???) is over and I am struggling to think what to make. I don’t think I need much for my lifestyle and am getting my quilting back out for after my hols!!!! A bit late but I did promise I would finish it and I definitely will 😂😂. Happy Frocktail Sewing. Lynne 😊
Thank you Lynne! I have so many colleagues in the UK and they’ve been complaining about the weather this summer. I think you all basically had one week of really nice warm weather? That’s so sad. Can’t wait to see your finished quilt! 😉
The Remy turned out so beautifully! I can’t get your coat out of my head though. It’s so polished and definitely very professional. You absolutely need more.
Yay for the long sleeved Remy :) You know I could never have enough Remy's :) I've yet to make one with the button detail though, and yours looks really cute - so I can feel another Remy coming in my near future :) Thanks for taking the time to make the videos and share with us x
BEFORE you order structured fabric for the Ladera, check out TomKatStitchery's new Ladera, out of a flowy fabric. Maybe too gorgeous for an office, but it worked out beautifully :) Your new top is lovely, I forgot that I bought that pattern! Time to make it up :)
Your Remy shirt is really pretty, great fabric👏. I watched Marine's video on the new Itch to Stitch pattern and it looked great on her. But 4.25 yards of fabric is a lot, wow. Now that you're not going to the Island house, you can join us again on the Saturday sewing social😉😉. Happy sewing🌺🌺
vlogmas videos. I love them but it gets overwhelming when everyone does one each day. I wish there weren't so many. Maybe twice a week. Also, I live in the US so I'd like you to show some of your hometown area....such as decorations, sites etc. I loved it a couple years ago when a lady in England showed us the mailboxes. People in the area decorate them with knitted coverings. I was so impressed. Love the videos and if you vlogmas daily, I'll try to watch them all.
I hear you Diane - it does tend to get a little overwhelming. I do love to watch vlogmas videos but have to be choosy because there are so many. Which is why I want my videos to bring some value to you all. If I plan them early enough, I can do trip into the city, small tutorials, small « sew with me » videos and some behind the scenes stuff. I really, really want to make them fun to watch and maybe a little educational too. I remember those mailboxes… I’m pretty sure it was Lost My Thread who did that during vlogmas. She did say she wanted to do vlogmas again this year so I’m excited! 😊
Agree with other comments about checking out Whitney from Tomkat stichery. A viscose would look very nice (if you want more structure, maybe a viscose twill)
Hi Izzy, love your videos as always! I would love to see tutorials for Vlogmas especially around using scraps of fabric into new products, either quilted or not. Maybe clothes or else perhaps items for use ourselves or for gifts for people. Thanks as always. X
Oh my word that top worked out amazingly 💕💕. The fabric was so gorgeous and needed to be sewn! I had forgotten how wonderful that coat was and YES you need more of those, well one more at least! I think the Shirt dress will work so well for you, for fabric? All I can say is what I would advise against. I made one in a thin needlecord once and although it looked nice, I hated the feel of it and wow, it stuck to my tights, so much static 😂. It ended up being shortened into a shirt! Can't believe the end of Island house time is here already, where did the Summer go?! Have a fab weekend and get cracking on the Frocktails outfits!! Xx
Thank you!! I’m never, ever making anything with cord again 😂 It makes noise, sticks to everything and it reminds me of the ugly dresses my mom made me wear in the 70s. Yes, summer just flew by this year which is really sad. But like I said, more sewing time which is good! Xx 💞
I think you just haven't met the right cotton haha 😘 That's a tough one..... Chambrays and oxfords (like for shirtings) usually have a really nice hand to them, but they would be more casual I think. ? A cotton/rayon blend I've seen a few times, but not ones that I would use - JoAnn's version wasn't the quality I would want for a dress. But someone might have something. (*whisper - maybe shoot CoreFabrics an email and ask for suggestions! 😁 🙃 They've got a lighter-weight poplin that they've been using that looks lovely in dresses, but they're all soldids) Good luck in your search, and I hope your Frocktails sewing goes smoothly!
LOL You might be right! I do love that Liberty cotton I got in a Think Pink box this summer, but I can’t imagine buying 4+ yards of a Liberty Lawn 😬 I bought some of that cotton poplin from Core Fabrics for Marianne’s Frocktails dress. It’s lovely! But yeah, they only have solids and I really want a print. I saw a beautiful mid-weight cotton sateen on the Minerva website. 🤔
I'm glad you survived the 3 day in office week, and felt wonderful in that pretty Remy Raglan top. Those "precious fabrics" were all great but I'm glad you chose the more autumn-y one for this early autumn make! I was one who commented on having evening wraps for Frocktails, Izzy, and hope you won't stress about it. The nighttime temps are cool, but not cold, and if you're fancied up only indoors...? - Kelly
I’m really happy that autumnal fabric won - I absolutely love my new top. I think I talked myself out of sewing wraps or layers for us for Frocktails LOL We only need to look amazing indoors so who cares what we are wearing for the taxi ride. Right? I do want to make us matching clutches though and bought an easy pattern today. 😊
@@dizzyquiltsandsews yes I think it would work. Get a darker colour chambray rather than a pale stone wash colour. Thick tights and boots!! Beautiful 💕
Love the colors on you of your Remy top! It’s also a very flattering style! For your I2S Ladera maybe a rayon twill? It’s a medium weight with a bit of structure but not too much. I’m considering that and a linen as well.
Izzy, your Remy is a beautiful print. Looks like Whitney on Tomkat has a video out on the Ladera dress. I LOVE shirtdresses. It must have a full skirt to take so much fabric. Happy weekend! 😊
Thank you Marcia! I watched Whitney’s video today. Her dress is stunning! It really doesn’t have a very full skirt. I think the waist ties and the way they are cut is a little fabric hungry!
It’s an event organized by sewists. It’s basically a cocktail party where you wear you me-mades and get to meet fellow sewists. They take place all over the world (I think Scottish Frocktails in Glasgow is taking place this weekend actually). We had one in Montreal a few years ago, but nothing since.
Your blouse fabric is so lovely.
Looking forward to seeing the photos of your new blouse.
Thank you so much! 😊

Vlogmas - little tutorials would be much appreciated, plus scenes from Montreal for those of us that will never get there!
Good ideas! Thank you. 😊
I’d love a new mug rug tutorial during Vlogmas xx
Good suggestion! Thank you!
Viscose/linen, I love it as an alternative to just viscose.
That’s also a good suggestion! Thank you so much.
Closet Core is having an excellent sale on their fabric right now.
I know! I've been browsing their website and adding stuff to my cart waiting to check out tomorrow night! LOL
The Remy turned out so beautifully! I can’t get your coat out of my head though. It’s so polished and definitely very professional. You absolutely need more.
Thank you Erin! Isn’t that coat amazing?! 😂 I’m ridiculously proud of that make and yeah, I need at least one more!

I always think chambray is the perfect fabric for a shirt dress. Not patterned though. ❤
I do love a chambray but would that work for winter? To me, chambray is more of a spring/summer fabric.

How about a rayon/linen blend for the Ladera dress? I find it's a good weight and is semi-structured, depending on the fabric blend percentages
That’s a really good idea! And I love sewing and wearing rayon/linen blends. Thank you!
What about cotton lawn, it is lighter than regular cotton 😊
I’m not a fan of all cotton lawns and can’t afford the Liberty stuff which is pretty amazing 😂
@@dizzyquiltsandsews a rayon may work check Mood fabrics they have all different types of fabric
How about a denim dress?
Hmmm… something to consider definitely. Not 100% sure a denim dress is my style, but denim is really trendy at the moment isn’t it?
