I’ve done only one Disney Cruise on the magic. I didn’t use the upgraded restaurants and the food in the normal restaurants was first class. I’m really surprised by your food reviews and the food poisoning. Disney cruises are not cheap so I would be disappointed by this. Thanks for the vlogs. Excellent as always.
Loved following you on this cruise and my thoughts are as much as it’s Disney and looks amazing , I feel like the other cruise you did seemed a lot better especially the shows they did in the main area and just the general feel of it , I know Disney is amazing and it’s great to be there but if I had to choose between both cruises you have done so far I would go with the first one which really surprised me as I’ve always wanted to do a Disney cruise but after seeing the first cruise I fell in love with that one , but glad you had an amazing time and sorry that you were I’ll and it rained on the castaway island , can’t wait for your next cruise 😀😀
Having watched both of your vlogs Carnival Mardigras and Disney Dreams cruise, I have the impression that the Carnival was much more enjoyed, maybe due to the fact that it was your first experience. I also think that Disney Cruise are orientated more towards families with very young children.
We loved Castaway Cay when we visited in April 2023. Luckily our weather was so much better than yours it was mid 80’s and no wind, the sea was like a duck pond that day. Like you we walk down and had so many photos taken with the characters on the way, but sadly the line for Mickey had closed, so we missed out. We both brought the “Get there quick, take it slow” t-shirt you showed. Your bike ride showed me so much more of the Cay than we saw. Plus it built up an appetite for lunch. We thought the bbq lunch was amazing. Charlotte got into the island spirit at the dance party. Pity the rain arrived but Shawn was brave having a dip. More fun back onboard riding the aqua duck even if it was disappointing for you. Chilling in the hot tub made up for it. Such a lovely farewell with the characters. Thanks for bringing back memories of our visit to Castaway Cay and our Disney Cruise. Looking forward to your summary of it all.
Disney always do it best! It must be surreal for themepark enthusiasts like you. A place of natural beauty but it also has themeing akin to a disney theme park. I know you guys are not drinkers but if I was there I would be having a cool beer in the sun at every chance. I would be in that chilled mellow zone and taking in the scenery ☺️

Really enjoyed this vlog aswell day 4 vlog, glad you were all better after suffering food poisoning Shawn, hopefully never experience that again. Nice island that is, loads of room for additions and development for future, .could build a Expedition Everest type theme coaster on that island or water park in land? Maybe build a hotel on the island? Offer stays on island? With attractions etc to see aswell more to do? How does it work with the island, cruise, are staff from the cruise or separate staff, do they set everything up early after arrival aswell pack it all up before departure? Basically is it staff per ship that enter island for set up & pack up or are there staff that stay there on island for work? Would of thought it would be staff from Cruises who work on island and ship, but I'm not sure, why I am asking? But nice island, would also love to visit there one day, nice destination. I did go on the Dream in August on a Southampton based cruise. You do have to give credit to Disney with the Aquaduck as when it was built the Aquaduck was the first water coaster on a cruise ship, so it wouldn’t be anything too special. Randomly because of the novelty of it I remember years ago when it was ranked world number 1 I think! It was very cold in the English Channel to ride it and was a two person day. These days quite a few raft based waterslides exist on cruise ships. I think Norwegian Cruise Line on their next new ship will have the first racing one with a launch!

Fabulous looking destination. Guessing the sand is very fine and soft. My only concern with Disney is that it is geared to "keep on Spending". I wonder if, like some other cruise lines, they ask you to pay a set daily price fee of gratuities ? Usually around $20 per day per person. This being regardless of what service you may get on your cruise and usually asked to pay prior to the cruise.

They have a second island on the making called lighthouse point cruises are due to start stopping there in the summer. We have a cruise stopping at both lighthouse and castaway booked for next year
Like you say Shawn, good that they have beaches on more than one side of the island, as it helps shielding from the Coastal winds....not forgetting that you can get sunburnt from the wind.

So funny, first time I've heard the food wasn't good at the bbq on Castaway Cay. Interesting to see the differing opinions and palates of folks. Enjoying the videos from the cruise (and the ensuing theme park ones) hope you had a better time than it seems you did. Oh, see I loved the lobster ravioli, but I'm used to eating shall we say, more "adult" food.
The first “BBQ” place wasn’t flame grilled and kept warm in hot plates, also it was the lack of options. The other place they visited was a proper flame grilled BBQ, plus was freshly made. As for the restaurant food it all looked amazing to me, lobster being “fishy” is definitely a strange comment to make for seafood 😆 However food poisoning should definitely NOT be happening, that’s not just a palette thing.

Hi Shawn and Charlotte, we are also getting the bright line train from fort Lauderdale to Orlando in October, Did you pre book your train tickets ? Not sure how long it will take to get off our cruise ship as it could take a while , couldn’t find an open ticket option . Hope you both had a great time .
Looks like they have changed the bikes since we last went , they didn't technically have an actual break you had to pedal backwards to stop them 😂 found out by some guy shouting pedal backwards while was flying downhill
Well I think I can already tell that this time it definitely wasn’t worth it unfortunately. Great to be able to say you’ve done it though and maybe the Disney Magic Cruise will give you a higher quality experience.
Tbh the island looked nice, but the Royal Caribbean islands is just as nice if not a little nicer for a fraction of the cost of Disney. I think I spent around 60% of what I was quoted for on Royal Caribbean. Mind you I also bought the premium beverage package (which is basically unlimited alcohol with soda, tea, and specialty coffees), and my room had a balcony vs my Disney cruise which would have been an interior state room with à la cart alcohol. I just don’t see how seeing some characters a few times and a couple higher budget shows warrants that extra cost.
Very interesting to see the Disney cruise……..cements the fact that it is the LAST cruise company I would choose!! But thanks for sharing your experience!
The best thing about Castaway Cay is how naturally beautiful it is. While yes, CocoCay is probably better objectively, it's just too artificial and inauthentic in my opinion.
Watching the videos, I’m very disappointed with Disney Cruises. Watching both, the Carnival Mardi Gras looked like a far more supreme overall holiday and sounds like it was far less expensive. When you’re paying top end prices and can’t eat the food is never a good sign. The Disney cruise also looks much more crowded and over sold.
These videos are interesting to see as they reconfirm my thoughts that Disney is complete and utter over hyped, over rated rubbish. That must have cost a fortune. So pleased that I’ll never waste a penny giving anything to Disney!

Well I think I can already tell that this time it definitely wasn’t worth it unfortunately.
Great to be able to say you’ve done it though and maybe the Disney Magic Cruise will give you a higher quality experience.
It was great to finally experience a Disney cruise and we had a great time on Castaway Cay!

Tbh the island looked nice, but the Royal Caribbean islands is just as nice if not a little nicer for a fraction of the cost of Disney. I think I spent around 60% of what I was quoted for on Royal Caribbean. Mind you I also bought the premium beverage package (which is basically unlimited alcohol with soda, tea, and specialty coffees), and my room had a balcony vs my Disney cruise which would have been an interior state room with à la cart alcohol. I just don’t see how seeing some characters a few times and a couple higher budget shows warrants that extra cost.

The best thing about Castaway Cay is how naturally beautiful it is. While yes, CocoCay is probably better objectively, it's just too artificial and inauthentic in my opinion.

It’s a similar price to the theme parks! We’re definitely not out of touch, as we love a bargain!
I’m shocked you had chicken again after getting food poisoning, I wouldn’t of touched a crumb again until I got off the ship 😂
I wanted to try something, however was definitely wary after the food poisoning!
Watching the videos, I’m very disappointed with Disney Cruises. Watching both, the Carnival Mardi Gras looked like a far more supreme overall holiday and sounds like it was far less expensive.
When you’re paying top end prices and can’t eat the food is never a good sign. The Disney cruise also looks much more crowded and over sold.
Not everyone has the palate of a 4 year old. Why can't you eat the food?
