I don’t think this was just a visit to the store, I think CardsHQ asked them to be investors. That’s why the whole video is based around numbers and business, so they have an idea on return on investment.

No, this is obvious that Fanatics wants to be selling their cards direct to consumers and cutting out distributors. Probably getting a sense of the type of investment needed for this scale a store.

I don’t think it’s appropriate for the ceo of fanatics to be going to card shops like this. Unless Geoff wants to sell only singles, this was extremely worrying. 99% of this hobby is luck, AKA GAMBLING, if you’re a normie like you and I, we will lose on 99% of the boxes we open from “cool guy Michael Rubin.“ Geoff is selling this guys product, which is basically an unopened lottery ticket, if you may. Is it not completely obvious how inappropriate this little shmooz fest was, considering how much BOTH of them can benefit financially if the boxes sent to Cards HQ have good cards in them? The ENTIRE HOBBY DOESNT TRUST FANATICS/TOPPS ALREADY WITH THEIR “INFLUENCER/BREAKER” BOXES, and then they go and fill this little flirt fest between the 3 boiiiiis? Yeah, I don’t like this at all. If they want to be involved in massive shops like this, the shops cannot sell sealed wax, singles only. This is such a racket.

I’m still a young kid. 35.
My partner and I left SF from Real Estste and Big Tech and started franchising. We just sold our first store after 4 years of owning it and signed on to a new franchise brand.
We are negotiating new spaces. We would like to open 3 locations with this new brand.
Building a portfolio of 20-40-60 locations in a lifetime could be really fun.
You have a good theme. You can actually be the franchisor and sell/lease/partner locations to fanatics.
I don’t need all the money. I want to build a community and let others help run a great business.
Learning the KPI’s and numbers was tough. Crazy how smart sharks are when they know every number in their business.
I hope I can think BIG like that one day as we grow.

Having dream card shops all over would be great. I remember always visiting a sports card shop in the mall in the early 90s and it was a great memory.
Fanatics guy creeps me out. Same type of New York/New Jersey narcissistic shyster that gives the hobby a bad name.
I think if they lowered the prices of boxes cards would fly off the shelf, u rarely get your moneys worth now days, at least for me anyways

It looks like Fanatics will be looking to open up their own card stores across the US in the near future. Then franchise them like crazy. I mean they own the manufacturing and licensing....so it's makes sense for them to open up THEIR OWN SHOPS.
This hobby cant die soon enough. When it does, all these grifters chasing dollars will leave and collectors can once again control the market.

Talking about allocations etc it’s wrong how breakers who don’t have a shop etc are getting 100’s upon 100’s of cases. The best of the best products too. So many shops are lucky enough to get 1 case of something or none at all for certain releases
Breakers without shops aren’t usually getting allocation. Most of them buy through DA, blowout, etc

You can make the rows of cards movable on the cases, so slowly show a new row. This way you can display many more cards in the same amount of space. Also 35:27
Looks like Fanatics could be thinking about franchising card shops. Or having there own retail shops. Wouldn’t be a bad idea.
I think they should start expanding Lids. Bring in all types of boxes and memorabilia of the teams in that area. I think this would e great. Not a typical “card shop” but a great retail type outlet.

Geoff had mentioned that he wanted the display cases to be at that height to give the store an open feeling. I say that there is more important reason to keep it at that height and that is for security reason. You want your workers to be able to scan throughout the store without any obstruction in an event that someone may try to hide of doing wrong. Yes, there are security cameras throughout the store, but it might be a little too late to catch someone. Geoff if you are reading this DO NOT raise the height of your cases.

I hope for the best. I am optimistic. Quality control is not one of those nuances this was highlighting. Big huge obvious mistakes should be easier to avoid than a million little nuances. Big picture first. If you can’t handle the easy then the hard is irrelevant because the hard is probably beyond you.

Suggestion: if a million dollar card pulled on live stream at any shop, the shop should receive 1.0% reward for selling the box, and a big sign that says “$$Million dollar card pulled here”.

Fanatics sells overpriced products that are cheaply made. They don't care about the fans, they only care about making a profit. It is very worrying that Fanatics is trying to monopolize sports memorabilia and merchandise because it will allow them to continue taking advantage of fans.

Build the next one in McKinney TX. Only 10 mins from allen, which is where the Dallas card show is every other time. Lots of growth in this area and not great card sports card shops and minimal tcg shops.

I enjoyed the video very much but I'd like to hit on the cabinets, I like them in all but being disabled and trying to see cards on the bottom becomes very hard bending and or getting back up is my only downside I see....
I really hope they do something about the costs of these boxes I rejoined the hobby a little over a year ago and I’m already at the point to where I’m about done with it there’s to much shady stuff going on having to pay 2 to 3 times what a box should cost is absolute garbage and even if you order through a place like wal mart or somewhere like that they mark the price up double or more and I refuse to pay that
I've collected for over 30 years without stopping. I can tell you unequivocally, this era the hobby is in is the shadiest, most greed filled time I've ever seen. It's definitely the closest I've ever been to washing my hands of this shitshow.
