I recently got 2 along with a completely new flock. The breeder sold them as Ameraucanas, but they are EE. They are an absolute delight and full of spunky energy and personality.
I have three of them now just starting to lay eggs. I would love to see the inside of your coop. I’m going to have to build a new coop when we move. This way I get different ideas from different chicken people if that sounds correct.
Have two roosters, one "Americauna" and one "Americauna/Australorp" mix. They're both very sweet. The mix is like 10 lbs and looks like a black sex-link female feathers-wise, but with the beard and ear tufts. The ladies still pick on them so I have to keep both in a different enclosure lol.
@@daniellesjoy Americauna stayed small actually (~5 lbs), but still seems dominant over his brother--also is the loudmouth of the two. Though he is more afraid of all the hens, whereas the mix is only particularly scared of the Black Sex-Link hen. Mostly they want nothing to do with them, will run over and stand by their door to be let back in away from them lol. They are living right next door in my pigeon enclosure so they do always see each other at least. I actually used two of my pigeon pairs to hatch out two fertilized eggs, gave the second one that was mid-hatching to the pigeon mom of the first baby and put them all in a brooder together for like 6-8 weeks (pigeon's will brood anything, don't even have to sneak an egg in usually). So these roosters were literally raised by pigeons lol. Might be part of why they're timid? My hens are five Rhode Island Red x Silver-Laced Wyandotte "Cinnamon Queens" and one Black Sex-Link all were in the same tank at Family Farm and Home so they're pretty tightly clicked together too.
I'm in Puerto Rico, here I just kept the typical wild chicken, laying hens here are usually more of a designer chicken, I got reds and browns, but can't find easter Eggers, my friend told me to look for chickens with green feet, found some laying chickens with green feet that look like chipmunks lol, not sure if they are easter Eggers, but going to find out within 18 to 22 weeks.
I love my Easter eggars I have 5 eggars and 5 golden sexlinks my Easter eggars do get picked on a little bit by my golden sexlinks but I love how sweet the Easter eggars are and they lay a lot lol
Hey how can I determine the sex of these? I have 3 of them one has a tail and is pretty petite with advanced feathering (5 weeks) the other ones have stubby tails and non advanced feathering the ones with stubby tails have alot more black brown and white looking colors
Great question, they usually lay around weeks 20-24 of age (5-6) months. And the eggs will usually start out smaller at the beginning and grow in size over the next few weeks. Best of luck with your new chicks!
@@daniellesjoy I bought a white chick at the end of June 2023. They told me she was a leghorn. After getting her home, I noticed she had green legs, lol. Today she is 5 months old and is the smallest of all my other chicks I bought on same day. Also, her comb is tiny and Watters are not as prominent as the other chicks. So, I am trying to figure out what she is. She hasn’t started laying yet either. My 2 New Hampshire reds started laying 2 - 3 weeks ago… I have 2 buffs that are not laying yet as well. Can you possibly tell me what kind of chicken my white one could be? TY very much. ❤️

Oh wow those are some big ones! It is always hard when they don’t get along! We try to keep them in a pen with fencing so that they can see each other

Those roosters are very caring and supportive of their own. They actually show compassion
My EE lays 6-7 eggs a week. She started laying at 4 months.

Does the color get darker as they get older? I have 2 EE and the eggs are pretty much white with a very slight hint of blue.

6:02 I noticed you have really high fences, maybe 8 feet? Will Easter Eggers try to fly over shorter fences?
