Wow! Easter Eggers are gorgeous! And agreeable to let you handle them like this. You are a pro and I can tell how much you truly love your chickens. This breed is for sure in my top 3. Thanks for showing them all!
We have a couple of Easter eggers in our flock of random breeds! I’m so excited to see their adult coloring! I would love to see another update on your chickens 💕
I'm going to pick up 12 Easter Egger eggs tomorrow to incubate and I'm so dang excited! Thank you for sharing so much about them, you're one of the reasons I decided to get so many, so I'll be the chicken momma of Easter Eggers in 21 days, along with Black Copper Marans eggs in 2 days. I just hatched 8 Ayam Cemani eggs last week and my 15 silkies are now 6 weeks old. I've got Lavender Orpington, Black Australorps and 18 Polish(3 different colors) coming next month. Chicken math done hit me so hard...lol. Thank you for all the info you share. It's taught me so much!
Finally a video like this! I ordered an Easter Egger as a member of my first flock. I'm excited to see the color of the hen and what color egg she will lay!!❤️🐔❤️🐔
We just got chickens (pullets) about a month ago for the first time ever. We got six mutts, (Plymouth rock, Rhode Island Red, and some game hen mixes). Today, we got 11 Easter egger babies (we will only keep six) and I’m so fascinated by how much their coloring changes. Can’t wait to see what our little guys look like when they grow up! Thankfully, three of the extras will be going to my brother’s neighbor, so we’ll get to see what they look like when they grow up as well. ❤️ ETA: Holy crap Quick is gorgeous. She’s my fav!
I love how you just love your chickens lol. I want more girls but need to get the right setting first, so jealous of your girls they are all so sweet and beautiful!!
We just got 10 Easter Egger chicks, and I am so curious what they will turn out to be! I am so glad you posted a video about their colors as they get older I can't wait to see what our girls look like in a few months! It would be cool to see some shots of all the chickens together to see some of the contrast throughout the flock! :) I'm definitely going to record our chick's progress color-wise now, because getting to look at them the way you have will be so fun!!!
Hey that is such an awesome idea! I’ll have to get them all together next. Rock on! Congratulations on your new babies, keep me posted how they turn out!
I have subscribed to your channel it’s super cool! I love chickens and will start raising chickens in a feed . I’m finishing up w making the huge chicken coop. I will probably buy Easter egg layer hens . Thanks for your very informative videos and your so cute too 😊
Where did you guys bought your chickens , I bought 3 and they all ended up being white , I love them but I wish they were more varied colors like yours.
Hello again, if you happen to have more shots of Swello, Millie, or Maple from the start to the 4,5 weeks old, would you put them up somewhere, if you ever get the chance?
We had 3 buff orpingtons and 2 black australorps that got killed by a dog, so we are fencing in a free-range area on our property, and I just ordered 7 easter eggers. I'm excited for the variety and pretty eggs!
Love your Americana Easter Eggers! Just curious how their doing? I have a couple older Rhode Island Reds that are few years old. I've always loved Americanas Easter Eggers! They'll definitely be my next choice.
Aw, thank you! The Easter Eggers are all still doing very well and loving life -- slowing down a bit on the laying these days, but that's okay with us! We love them just the same.
@@OakAbode Like wise my Rhode Island Reds do the same during the summer. I have a Golden Laced Polish Rooster, 2 Rhode Islands and one Buff Orpington. I had couple Buff Orpingtons and unfortunately one passed away because of the high summer heat here in Phoenix, Arizona. After having that happen i now have a large cooler up against their coop that's blowing cool air during the hot time of the day. I've been learning and getting so much information about Americana Easter Eggers and I'm in love. And seeing your videos your Americanas their so so beautiful im hooked!!
@@OakAbode It helps it definitely keeps them happy and alive during the hot summer 110-117 degree days. Thank you so much for your replys and kindness. Can't wait to see more of your Americanas updates.
Hi. I have predicament. I live in the burbs and I am waiting to get 4-6 Easter egger chickens when I retire next year. We are NOT ALLOWED to have roosters here. I want to get them as babies. Is there a way I can insure that none are boys? I am terrified. I am a vegetarian and I can’t imagine giving one up somewhere after they are half grown, not knowing his fate. Do you have any suggestions for me??
There’s no way guarantee all the Easter Eggers you order will be all female. I think when they determine the sex as chicks it’s about 90% accuracy. The only way to guarantee all females is to buy sex-link chickens (which aren’t Easter Eggers) which females and males will look different when hatched.
Can you do a video on Reptar-(not sure if I spelled that right)? I have a 2 week old Easter Egger with cross beak and I'm not finding great info on care for her.
Yo! Do you remember how long it took these ladies to start laying? I’m on my second batch of chicks and so far, everyone’s been laying for a month or so except the two eggers. Wondering if it’s a ‘breed thing’
How long have you owned or been raising chickens and how many breeds have you had? I've had them off and on since I was a little kid when my younger brother and I purchased our first pair of hens from a yard sale at a church our mother stopped at for .50 each. They were both black so I think they were both sex links.
I have 2 Questions: #1 Do all the eggs taste the same, no matter the shell color?... #2 Dothe same Easter Egger keep laying the same color eggs or different colors each time?
My Easter Eggers have a wider range of colors. Your girls are probably a red brown ameraucana mix, red brown ameraucanas come in a welsummer-like colors and pattern and darker colors but still a similar pattern to a welsummer.
@Iconoclastic Artist, where did you get your EE's from if you dont mind. I'm saving up to build a coop and all the equipment needed. I was going to get some EE chicks from Tractor supply but if there is a different place to order from, with more of a variety that would be awesome!
And OK as I watched all of this and made my comment, maybe you could review your own video and see what I’m talking about. And maybe give us people that are leggers or whatever more detail on that subject. Yeah now I am too tired, but I want to go outside and make a video of the ones I’m talking about just just put a link here for you. Should I do that?
Thats cool you recorded from chick to pullet to hen on what their colors are doing. Moral of the story is: you will never be able to tell their color as a chick apparently lol.
Hi there, nice video, very useful. You mentioned one of your pullets had to be euthanized, what kind of problem did she have? Were these store bought, or mail order? Thanks for making the video.
Hi there! Chrissy had sour crop (which quickly turned pendulous) from almost the day we received her. We tried everything -- crop bras, special diet, vomiting -- it was manageable until winter hit, and she took a turn for the worse. She became very skinny and started to have trouble even walking. It was a very difficult decision, and we still miss her. These were mail order from TSC, and all the others have thrived, so I still recommend them!
Thanks for the info. Your two videos on the easter egger color development are very valuable source of info. As for the sick bird glad to see you mustered up the courage to end her misery.
Captain Marvel raises chickens? You look a little like Brie Larson (spelling) in the video with the hat. Fort Lauderdale FL, we have Easter eggers, they are grey
@@OakAbode Hi Captain! Everyone should have chickens! I convinced a friend to take a 2 of the chicks I hatched..... her husband was not pleased :-( But, 2 weeks later, she tells me while laughing "he loves them more than I do, and made me swear not to tell you" Yep... never met a chicken I didn't like, a few questionable roosters though

thanks for sharing! neat to see a progression on each of them from chick, to juvenile, to adult. Great video!
Would love to see your coop set up btw, we have to build ours in the next few weeks and I am looking for ideas!!! :)
We will have to do this! Mostly because I made a LOT of errors in our design 😅 but the next one will be better!
Those are some adorable easter eggers! Millie has some really pretty color combinations.
I just got some Easter Eggers and I can’t wait until they fill out

I have zero clues if any of mine are roos. There is fighting going on, but no on is getting overly picked on so it's probably the pecking order.

When you say they are loud, are you referring to their normal everyday chicken noises or their egg song?

What do you feed your birds? And I'm wondering what color of egg the last one that might have Welsummer in her will lay.
She lays a yellow/green egg - our birds free range most of the time, but we supplement their diet with whatever layer feed is on sale, haha
