You do know a LOT of vehicles have Variable Valve Timing today right? Toyota has their version the VVTi and Nissan has theirs, the VVL, and Mitsubishi has theirs, the MIVEC, and so on......
I genuinely thought all 4 cylinders sounded bad no matter what. Was proved wrong first with my Alfa TwinSpark which was beautiful and secondly by my Honda VTEC which was even better. They all do have a habit of being a bit "farty" if the exhaust is too big though

Make your own straight pipe from the original exhaust (cut the original from the catalytic converter and the weld on yours) but of course there are endless possibilities mate
KEEZ straight piped are honestly the stupid this on a gasoline engine. a gasoline needs that back pressure and doing a straight pipe pretty much makes your engine less powerful.

Tyler Esker There are several versions and generations of 2.0 t engines. The most commonly tuned is the ea113 which has 2 different versions. The most powerful one is used in cars like golf r, scirocco r, leon cupra etc. This has stronger internals which seem to be reliable till 550hp IF the tune is good and tuner knows what is doing. What really makes it a good package though is the combination with dsg gearbox. Magnificent box, stock clutches can handle almost everything you through at them and the gearbox itself has a limit somewhere in 800nm region. The newest 2.0t version is called ea888 gen3. It has many improvements from previous gens and is very efficient. Has both multipoint and direct injection, integrated exhaust manifold in the head which is water cooled and other bits. It seems to be reliable to 420wtq, which means that in awd cars with dsg is capable for 10s in 1/4 mile. I know a golf r with 540whp that managed 10.4s. Stock engine, stock dsg gearbox, stock dsg clutches.

210HP and 201 LB-FT of torque from the factory with a chip tune you can get like 240 easy and mods are cherry on top all the way up to 400 WHP
