    My 87 year old dad found out at 62 that he had Celiac Disease. By then, he was down to 118 lbs., had severe anemia, and prostate cancer. My sister and I don't have official Celiac, but CLEAR intolerance to gluten. One of the super weird symptoms I had was that I developed worse and worse painful, bloody, scabby sores up inside my nasal passages. I think gluten is freaking evil. I have had horrible digestive issues my entire life. I've been off gluten for years now.

    Ten years ago I was having horrendous pain, saw a rheumatologist who basically humiliated me in front of five medical students . He wouldn’t let my husband with me and I was told to undress to my underwear . He looked said I had appalling posture was obviously depressed and needed to change my job .I left in tears . This put me off ever seeing medics again. As years went by my migraines went in overdrive and became hypothyroid . Hadbeen diagnosed with ibs in the past
    Roll onto 2021 ; after the covid vaccines I wet numb in one leg and up my torso ,couldn’t walk . Sent to neurologist and from the blood tests found to have among other things one test came back saying I could be gluten sensitive and have more bloods today to confirm , all these years of fatigue ,migraine joint pain ,nausea ,ibs ,low thyroid , shit teeth , low moods ,anxiety and it could be something so simple. Feel let down that nobody ever suspected gluten. Also have high platelets count and vertigo . My mum had hashimotos and ended up with encephalitis and left with myelitis in spine ; wonder if it’s my genes from my mum. Just got to the part about birth ! My doctor didn't want to believe me when I told him I might be Celiac, based on my own research, simply because I didn't have the classic symptoms such as: diarrhea, vomiting or weight loss. But here's this doctor who perfectly says that gluten sensitivity nowadays does not manifest through those symptoms - quite the opposite!
    I'm confirmed to being dairy/gluten/soy and yeast intolerant one year after that, and yet no doctor believes that I feel fatigued the day after I consume a product that contains any of those. I'm not mad, but just disappointed because even close ones do not believe me. The auto-immune world, unless you're living in it, is really an unthinkable place and a concept to grasp by the non-autoimmune people, so I refuse to blame them, but doctors however...

    • @martinrose6357
      @martinrose6357 2 роки тому

      @@lisamarie2353 I've had various symptoms for over 8 months and there was a different symptom every week. Then it would disappear but would come back again after few weeks or so. I was petrified the whole time, and I suppose the more gluten I consumed, the more my body couldn't take it and new cracks (symptoms) would start to appear until I couldn't take it anymore and had a more major symptom.
      I was never confirmed a Celiac. I first got diagnosed with all those intolerances because of my own request for a simple food intolerance blood test. This is how I had my doubts confirmed. Then, I started the gluten free diet on my own after a month or so, and since I didn't know my doc would refer me for a Giladin Antibody test, I tested negative because I'd been eating clean already for the past two months. But I also heard that test sometimes doesn't show you have celiac simply because they only test you for IgA and another one ( I forgot the name) and there's researches that show there are like tons of other antibodies, which you may test positive for, but there still aren't tests for those.
      I never had a biopsy cause in my third world country they told me to come back after 6 months, during which I consumed gluten as I had been told, only for then to inform me the biopsy/endoscopy would take place without anesthesia. I told them goodbye, and I just started the diet on my own.
      I only ate gluten-free bread, but I had to throw potatoes, rice (which I already ate on my gluten-free diet) due to developing insulin resistance. Once you're intolerant to gluten, etc. you're basically screwed in the long run. I probably have diabetes now no joke.

    • @martinrose6357
      @martinrose6357 2 роки тому

      @@lisamarie2353 fatigue is the biggest symptom. I also felt dizzy whenever I ate. It didn't matter how much I ate, I always felt dizzy almost every second day even after the smallest amount. It wasn't dizzy, dizzy, but if I kept eating, I knew I'd be sick. Which was weird cause I was hungry and starving, yet food would make me feel repulsed by it.
      I also had terrible itch on my forearms and on my scalp, which woke me up from sleep several times.
      Just get a food allergy blood test first. It would confirm definitely. If my third world country tests can pick up sensitivity to sunflower seeds and beef (lol), then your tests would definitely pick up any intolerance you might have. I didn't even know I'd be intolerant to yeast too ffs

      That study is set-up to promote the "ancient" wheat and funded by a company which sells this wheat. If the researchers wanted to answer the question comprehensively they should have included a 3rd group: no wheat group! maybe they would't got the funding if they did that.

    • @sundarex
      @sundarex 9 років тому +5

      Karen Pendergrass Yes, modern wheat is very different from traditional/Biblical varieties like spelt in terms of gluten content. One critical factor is that ancient breads were fermented... but modern bakery products are quick fix stuff. My baker friend who got trained in Paris says that the wheat dough should be fermented for 3 whole days before it enters the oven!!! Fermented dough or soughdough reduces the offending gluten but remember that some will still be there. The upper limit of daily consumption of gluten is set at 10-12 parts per million for gluten sensitives. Gluten cannot be destroyed thru' sprouting hence bread made with sprouted flour doesn't help.

    This is great information. Thank you, Dr. Fasano.
    We’re not supposed to eat wheat because we, humans, don’t have the enzymes needed to breakdown gluten into individual amino acids. Gluten is toxic to everybody. So if you eat it, and get sick, you get tagged as a Celiac or with any of the other non-GI “disease” names. Don’t eat wheat or anything with gluten. Period.
    This is not a genetic problem. This is a nutritional problem. If you eat something that you’re not designed to eat, you’ll get sick. Your body doesn’t like it. Simple.

      why are you waiting, what do you have to lose. many autoimmune diseases respond to removing gluten, dairy etc. Although I don't have Graves disease I bought a book by Dr Amy Myers "The Autoimmune Solution" and followed an initial 1 month exclusion diet and have had great results. Most of the autoimmune diseases are thought to be caused by what we are eating, and it is removing certain foods from out diets. I have had life changing autoimmune conditions from being a child, I have now developed another one and I am therefore continuing my own research into diet, buying certain books that make sense to me. The pain and disability is what drives me. If you have a condition that completely alters your life you would take action, if you have one autoimmune disease it means you can get others as well. Just stop eating our western junk food. I repeatedly hear people say that if such a food was harmful they would not be allowed to sell it, how can anyone be so naive as to trust people with their health, the food industry makes money out of putting rubbish in our food, look at the what is put into it that is so removed from what is natural. Look what people put in their shopping trolleys. So much processed and junk food, no wonder everyone is fat and getting ill, no one looks healthy any more. Read the labels and help yourself. Forget about eating and making cake etc, why do people allow themselves to get caught up in whatever is trending. In the UK, the cookery programmes on TV are portraying foods that are full of eggs, sugar, wheat and dairy etc and people are copying them. Look at those doing the shows, the cooks and chiefs nearly every one of them is fat. Use your eyes, read, and draw your own conclusions. Who wants to get these terrible life changing, life shortening if they can be avoided by what we eat. We are wasting the money and time we spend on harmful foods that are making us ill. How unintelligent and plain ridiculous it that. Good luck.

    But something else needs to be factored in; the effects of antibiotics and other medications on the gut. Antibiotics kill off the beneficial and essential gut bacteria, allowing the harmful ones to proliferate. These also damage the lining of the gut and give rise to Leaky Gut Syndrome. So some people will acquire sensitivity to gluten (and to a whole range of other foods and beverages).

      Only a dumbass thinks Eve was given SEXUAL punishments for eating fruit or wheat. Eve had sex with the fruit of a forbidden FAMILY TREE. God hates those who destroy his creation through RACE MIXING. Adam and Eve were of one race with Trees of their Kind to eat from but the Sweet talking serpent of another Family Tree talked Eve into having sex, then was born two different kinds of kids, where the Serpents kid murders the Adamic Child. Diversity and Race mixing are a sickness that create conflict and destruction of families and nations. Race mixing is destroying Gods Creation.
