Me (GSTAR321) doing a live commentary and playthrough of 'The Evil Within' on AKUMU difficulty.
The Evil Within is a survival horror game directed by Shinji Mikami and was released in 2014. It is available on PC, PS3, PS4, XBOX 360 & XBOX ONE.
Shinji Mikami does what he does best and has provided us with yet another great survival horror game. The Evil Within is VERY similar in gameplay mechanics to 'Resident Evil 4', and it makes sense as Mikami directed that game as well.
I give praise to the games atmosphere, pacing and gameplay but personally find the story to be a convoluted mess. Still, if you can manage to get your head around it, you will find it somewhat entertaining (though laughable). Locating all the collectables is a must in terms of gaining a better understanding of the story.
But aside from that, the monster designs are fantastic, the level design and atmosphere is amazing, and the gameplay is on point. With a mix of stealth, gunplay, traps and intense boss battles, this is a great game. An essential addition to any survival horror lovers repertoire!

Fun fact: you can stealth kill traumas. Seb will literally jump on their back and stab them.
It takes two stealth stabs to actually kill one though.

I lost the count of how many times he says that and the times he could have killed an enemy that was near a bomb just by shooting at it, but instead wasting rifle ammunition or a bolt or even dying. Still a great playthrough tho, can't wait to watch him play EW2.
Intense on this difficulty. Really liked this game, finished it few days ago. Monster design is superb as well as the atmosphere.

I was trying to find a good channel for Mortal Kombat because I love that game, ever since I found your channel, watching the walkthroughs and the MK videos, I was hooked. Keep up the great work.

The Evil Within is such a well made game. It fits both kind of gamers, these who likes to play fast, kicking doors and jumping off stairs; and the other kind of gamer, the one who likes to get immerse in the well made atmosphere of terror and creepiness by taking your time opening doors slowly walking between the darkness with your lamp. I'm more of the second kind of gamer myself, love to take my time with this title

Tip: To burn Haunted faking being dead on the ground without them getting up you have to approach them crouched and with your lantern off, that always worked for me.
I’ve come back to this game exactly 6 years after I gave up on it and have finally got through the Laura fight. Fuck Akumu is HARD!
Harpoon Bolts DO NOT suck! They're great for farming gel when you face the Keeper for the first time, and if you invest enough in them, they're great against Laura if you want to take her down.
Will you play some of the other Shinobi games? Some I would like to see are shadow dancer (kick ass game), Shinobi (master system, or arcade) and the gg Shinobi II
I noticed when you were fighting the amalgom boss thing you managed to decapitate one of the bodies sticking out of him with one of your rifle shots. His frantic movement might make this difficult but I wonder if focusing on hitting those bodies sticking out of him makes a difference in damage, perhaps he would go down if you destroyed them all?

You can take out Laura on a new game using the *ahem* SHITTY harpoon bolts if they’re maxed out with fire damage. It takes a bit of ammo, but the harpoon bolts don’t take a lot of parts to make. Not to mention the harpoon bolts one-shotting everything else including the Ruvik clones.
Probably wouldn’t do it on Akumu though, since it takes 50000 green gel just to get the bolts from level four to five.
user1point0 Yea, in theory it sounds like a good idea with the harpoon bolts fully upgraded, since they inflict fire damage. But 50000 green gel to do so is absolutely disgusting.

This chapter makes me think about how disappointed I am in going back to STEM for the second game. Could you imagine Ruvik in the real world trying to twist it into the designs that we’ve seen here, kind of like Jigsaw?
