Me (GSTAR321) doing a live commentary and playthrough of 'The Evil Within' on AKUMU difficulty.
The Evil Within is a survival horror game directed by Shinji Mikami and was released in 2014. It is available on PC, PS3, PS4, XBOX 360 & XBOX ONE.
Shinji Mikami does what he does best and has provided us with yet another great survival horror game. The Evil Within is VERY similar in gameplay mechanics to 'Resident Evil 4', and it makes sense as Mikami directed that game as well.
I give praise to the games atmosphere, pacing and gameplay but personally find the story to be a convoluted mess. Still, if you can manage to get your head around it, you will find it somewhat entertaining (though laughable). Locating all the collectables is a must in terms of gaining a better understanding of the story.
But aside from that, the monster designs are fantastic, the level design and atmosphere is amazing, and the gameplay is on point. With a mix of stealth, gunplay, traps and intense boss battles, this is a great game. An essential addition to any survival horror lovers repertoire!

Just wanted to say that I love your walk-throughs, after beating this game numerous times on "Survival" over the years I'm finally attempting "Nightmare" mode, I'm coming to this chapter soon and I'm not looking forward to it, love the video, love your style...I've used some of your tips already.
Same thing here, I'm been playing the shit out of this game for years and after watching his playthrough I got the balls to start Akumu and I'm always not looking forward the next fight xD

44:10 If you don't make it past the twin shigyos on your first attempt and end up stuck at that checkpoint with one already in front of you, bear in mind that even with the missing corpses on Akumu, you can shoot the first shigyo directly, buying yourself time to swim around that first corner.

I don't know if you already recorded the chapters that are left, but now that you got the magnum it reminded me something, the way i kill the 2 keepers in the last chapter is i wait until they are together use a freeze bolt and unload all the magnum bullets to them, i hope this is useful information.

Donald Gregory I did own the very first Max Payne back in the day, but I never finished it. I loved the slow bullet time combat.

MrGSTAR321 I want to but I don't know what games to do and I'm having trouble with the capture card I have. I hooked it up to my ps4 but no sound recorded so I did like 6 recordings but the in game audio was cut out and it demoralized me lol. I'm also very busy so it's hard to find time

Haven't got any plans at this stage. I'll have to play it first and see how I feel about it. But I'm sure I'll like it. After this walkthrough though I'm gonna work on some other games, I think I'll need a break from Evil Within stuff.
The best thing about the maxed out harpoon bolts is that you can’t use them in flammable areas.

I'm doing this on nightmare and it sucked I can't imagine how worse it's gona be on akumu, whoever mad this game difficulty is a psychopath
Honestly this chapter seems bad but it's not that bad actually. Yeah on my first time I died a lot on the Garage construction part but I didn't die at all on the elevator. On my second playthrough I didn't die at the garage but I died like 5 times on the elevator. The rest of the chapter is quite easy. Genuinely this chapter is the second hardest chapter behind Chapter 6. A GREAT TIP HERE. For the part after you reunite with Kidman you can actually just flash the SMG guy and run downstairs to despawn the guys. Really helpful for Ammo management
Chapter 6 was straight up hell on my first playthrough, I died like 10 times in the Cabin but I died A LOT in the main castle section. But on my second playthrough I died like 4 times in the Cabin and 0 times in the main part. The key to doing the main part like a god is being fast. If you are very fast and get to the Sadist boss quick than all the enemies despawn and you can explore the castle safely (watch out for c4's tho).
I genuinely enjoyed this difficulty. That's why I did it twice and I completed the second playthrough 6 hours ago ( before the comment ). So yeah I might do it for the third time as well.

Love it when the first thing I hear in a WALKTHROUGH is "I had to redo the previous chapter." Very confidence-inspiring. Almost as comforting as someone telling me "I'm not a real woman" after the first date.
