Me (GSTAR321) doing a live commentary and playthrough of 'The Evil Within' on AKUMU difficulty.
The Evil Within is a survival horror game directed by Shinji Mikami and was released in 2014. It is available on PC, PS3, PS4, XBOX 360 & XBOX ONE.
Shinji Mikami does what he does best and has provided us with yet another great survival horror game. The Evil Within is VERY similar in gameplay mechanics to 'Resident Evil 4', and it makes sense as Mikami directed that game as well.
I give praise to the games atmosphere, pacing and gameplay but personally find the story to be a convoluted mess. Still, if you can manage to get your head around it, you will find it somewhat entertaining (though laughable). Locating all the collectables is a must in terms of gaining a better understanding of the story.
But aside from that, the monster designs are fantastic, the level design and atmosphere is amazing, and the gameplay is on point. With a mix of stealth, gunplay, traps and intense boss battles, this is a great game. An essential addition to any survival horror lovers repertoire!

I look forward to seeing you beat this hard mother of a game and tackle dead space in the future! Dead Space 1 is my fav modern survival horror/shooter of this generation, the 2nd one really damn good but i felt it was less scary and isaac talking ruins the atmosphere at times.....the 3rd one on the other hand.....that was like Resident Evil 6...in your words...."DISGUSTING!!! A DISGRACE!!!" *Angry sigh* Look...." xD

Was laughing so hard the whole time he was explaining that there was gonna be 2 more haunted bursting the the door with explosives, I knew he was totally fucked.
The final boss should have been a mutated three headed monster. The three heads are Bo Rai Cho, Kobra, and Hsu Hao. The boss name is the Three Heads of Disgrace.

Gstar, if you succesfully disarm an explosive bolt trap, you actually loot the bolt. You get no trap parts, true, but you actually GET an explosive bolt into your ammo stock.

I stood in the corner of the entrance and then one shot the harpoon lvl 5 at the keeper and then when he's at my corner, I ran a bit near the shelves and one shot him once more till he fell. I ran back to the corner and then switched to magnum lvl 3 to one shot him. I did this back and forth between the bolt and magnum. Saves bullets and bolts if you don't want to use up either. The saw didn't seem to touch me--much--because the keeper's gel was at the corner where I stood the entire time. Finally when the keeper stayed dead, I shot the saw with my shotgun so I could focus on getting all the items. 3 bolts and 3 magnum and one shotgun shells expended. Very easy once you practice again and again. Your vids always gave me ideas on how to maneuver the stages and bosses. Very grateful for your walkthroughs. Keep them up! :-)

Shock bolts take care of those stupid saws. The kitchen gives you like 3 of them for a reason.

MrGSTAR321 it destroys them! It doesn't have to be a direct hit with the bolt either. As long as it gets shocked it stops moving for good.

watching these in preparation of the evil within 2. read some reviews and for the most part it seems awesome. Too bad I dont have the money for it atm due to some unexpected costs and want to save enough to at least get mario odyssey later this month. Either way your videos are amazing GStar keep doing what youre doing!

Gstar321 another survival horror game you should check out is the Resident Evil Remaster that came out back in 2015. It was originally on Gamecube back in 2002, and then ported to Wii in 2008. But there is a PS4/XBOX ONE/PC version. I highly recommend it if you're a survival horror fan or love anything shinji makami related. :D

I got lucky in that Hells Kitchen area on my 2nd attempts, placing shock bolt near Acid trap.

You should try Home Sweet Home it's a indie horror game, it's a run and hide type of game but the atmosphere of the game is really spooky, i think it's great.
