Thanks man helped a lot with my first oil change
Thank you for this helpful video
OMG. I have never seen an oil change where you have to remove windshield trim. BMW life.
Mid engined car!
not if you get the right oil filter tool
Thanks mate
Would you know what items I should be replacing at my service around 180000km's? Mine is sitting on 175000, but I see the previous service at about 162000 so I need to at least do the oil and filter now. Any advice welcome!
Thanks :)
Marko Tymo 👍
Hi Mark. Thanks from Sydney. Where do you get the sump plug washer from? Is it a special part, or a simple Bunnings copper 17mm washer? Cheers, about to give it a go on my ‘09 118i.
Every oil filter kit you buy should have a replacement crush washer. No you cannot get them from Bunnings, these are thinner.
Great vid...made me laugh when u said drive up four ramps at once....how do u do that?
2 at the front for the front wheels and 2 at the rear for rear wheels.
Hi just bought my first 1 series M sport and want to upgrade the disc and breaks any recommend parts please. Great video
M Sport has pretty great brakes.
A lot of after market brakes won’t be as good.
You can upgrade the pads and even fit slotted rotors.
But I wouldn’t replace the calipers unless you had a reason too.

Mark's reviews and tutorials thanks mate for the advice
Thanks mate.
I got a bmw 116i 2006. However, I have got a white blue smoke coming from exhaust with a burning smell after changing the engine oil by a garage. Do you have any clue what is the cause of the smoke ?
He changed it into 5W-30 as he said
Thanks again
Have a look at this video ua-cam.com/video/R3NrMnl2Py0/v-deo.html It will give you a test to do. I have a playlist on oil and oil issues there is a link to that at the end of this video. Watching those videos will help
@@Marksreviewsandtutorials you might need to have your valve stem seals replaced
Thanks very intuitive. Can you add the torque setting for the sump plug?
It is 25nm or really quite tight if you don't have a torque wrench.

How many litter do i need for bmw 1 series 120i 2008 E87 PETROL convertible
There is a chart in this video that gives the required amount of oil for each different engine. MRT
Hi, my 116i is running great when cold but really bad and lumpy when warm!! Especially around 2000_2500 rpm! Could it be an 02 sensor???
Sean Bawn Hi Sean. That can be many things even the ignition coils. You need an on site diagnosis.
Mark's reviews and tutorials thanks Mark, put new pencil coils and plugs in and it's still rough! Thanks anyway
Check the vanos solenoids and vanos mechanism itself. This is renowned for causing power less and rough idle. I'm about to repair mine.
Castrol magnatec vs Castrol edge 5w40 and 5w30 Castrol edge surely there is some difference?
try this: ua-cam.com/video/ARMJ9QPIkaA/v-deo.html
Hi mark great video how's the 120 going I have the same car in the uk do you recommend that oil for me thanks.
Hi Jimmy, I love my little 120i. Ok it is a bit small, given the choice I would be in a 3 series but this hatch is so versatile. It is my little panel van. If where you are doesn't go below freezing I would recommend 5w and if it does then 0w both full Synthetic. I would buy somewhat of a known brand.
Yes I enjoy mine love the way it holds the road looking at the 5w30 castrol magnatec as it is a bit cheaper than the 0w30 castrol edge do you still use it?
Yes in Australia there is no need temperature wise for the 0 grade oil. 5w30 is great. Importantly is that you change the oil regularly I change it every 10,000kms.
Would you recommend the castrol magnatec stop start oil.
Yes it is what is in my car now. I am also looking at the NULON brand that seems great as well.
so the size is 17? or 18?
The size of what? The sump plug is 17mm דני עטיה
Avoids the oil cover on the side but put it under a engine cover which u can't get to. Brilliant German engineering... piece of shit.
