Its just another way to charge a rental fee for the box...

so they can control you by turning off your service if you behind on your bill and also make you pay for rental fees on equipment per box and also charge you for phone, internet cable tv, and also charge for different packages of what channels you want to see espn discovery ect….

Just what are they protecting me from? Receiving local stations that I can receive using a antenna, or adding a small fee a top of those other fees, besides they better test this out before they implement it into the system, they shouldn't try to fix something that isn't broke.

Ever since the cable box came out, I've dropped my TV service all together. I was too much of a hassle to even turn on the TV. I don't want to juggle remotes just to be able to turn it on.

If you have their internet, get some cheap Roku sticks. Then just load the Spectrum app, boom!, you got it at no extra charge (minus the cost of the Roku sticks).

Works but the picture quality goes blocky a lot. Despite excellent wifi connection.

Largely lies. Actually SpeckedCum did this so they could collect another $20.97 in box fees each month. This $20.97 is also why our household now gets all TV by antenna. Have fun with your fees SpeckedCum; just realize, you're no longer collecting that $87 in revenue every month. And we save over $1044 every year.

Steve Johnson you are so right and I have an old TV and I don't have that much money. And they say I can get one for free for 2 years but I don't believe anything Spectrum says I am looking into ways around paying for a box forever next thing you know they will make you pay for a WiFi and router because I have my own Spectrum sucks big monkey balls. They should not have to make you pay for a box they should let you buy a box it only cost them like $10 so you're supposed to pay the rest of your life it's wrong something should be done about it because they're ripping you off once you have the box paid off it's like loan sharking or something it should be illegal Trump has everything to do with all this they own most of the country now maybe Trump owns them what does Trump own I like Spectrum about as much as I like him he is a big fat solo sell out

Unless you're getting a DVR model, most current set-top boxes cost the cable company no more than $79, so you should pay that $6.99 for a year, then it's free until you turn the box in. Obviously that's not the way it works. If you want a DVR, be willing to pay a higher fee. Then it's equitable. BTW you can't buy your own box because charter speckedcum encrypts the signal.

People are very innovative we will find ways around it. I might even get a crappy dish and when it goes out that I can watch Netflix till it comes back on. There's a thing called Roku but I don't think you can get local channels on it. But you still have to have internet. And I'll bet they're doing something to that next because of the net neutrality thing they can do anything no w. The whole United States that shut off their Spectrum for one month see how they like that but they won't I would I can go without TV for a month I'll listen to the Bills game on the radio I don't care we didn't even have a TV when I was a kid how do I need one now just makes me fatter

A lot depends on your needs and wants. Our household wasn't getting $87 worth of entertainment and information every month -- then charter wanted to add $20.97 for boxes we didn't even want. Because we're on a hill, we get 42 broadcast channels for free. The favored name-calling is "charter rectum," but I just find SpeckedCum funnier. If the corporation wants respect, they can knock off the greedy nickel-and-dime stuff. Since that's never going to happen, they'll always be SpeckedCum to me.

They are cutting off the free cable thieves, cause the signal is scrambled. No freebies anymore. Boo hoo. After 20 years , I have to pay now.

I totally agree. Since Memorial day the service has been in and out all day every day. Can't watch anything as it does not stay active for more than 5 minutes at a time. Internet is out also. What a SUCK business they run.

cable? I cut my cord over 10 years ago. cable companies are scam. you can get most of the digital channels over the air with a cheap digital antenna. rest of the other channels you can get it the "other" method.

Yeah sure, new cable boxes, that are dirty old pieces of crap! lol. After getting 4 boxes in a row that didn't work, all the same exact piece of shit boxes, I went and got a Roku box and now use the app instead of their stupid boxes. And I don't have to pay for a box that was clearly not new and didn't work. Even had a tech come out and check my connections etc. 5 mins after he left the stupid box failed #4.

Its so hilarious they get paid for b's .They sent me with 3 boxes and router not once has a thank u or didn't get paid for installation. Some elderly people could get hurt trying to install boxes or possibly electrocuted.I wasted 3 hours on them I rebooted tje box 20 times they zapped it .So now I have to hear about how 1 of your technicians didn't show up.I don't even watch t.v. I know why the changed to have it where u have to have a 📦.

So you don't know what time it is as you walk through the living room.
For 40-50 years we have had the time displayed at the front of the living room on VHS and Beta recorders. From video recorders, to DVR boxes, to cable boxes, we have ALWAYS had the time display.
This is to get us used to Authoritarian system, and get used to having things we have always known and had taken away from us. Think I am crazy?
10 years ago no one would have thought the government could tell people who is essential and aloud to work, and who is not essential and ORDERED to stay home. How you all like this "new normal" so far?
It's all about control, and programming the masses to accept what ever they want us to accept.
