This is hands down the biggest Coyote I've ever caught!!!

I’m no expert but that bugger is bigger and darker than any yote I’ve seen out here in the west and it sure made a mess of that set. I’m thinking that may be a red wolf and assuming it was released but once again I’m not an expert and may be wrong, either way it’s a nice catch.

Eastern coyotes are bigger and have nicer coats than their western counterparts because as they moved east, they also bred with wolves.

Obviously out in the wild on a trap line you eat them? Use their fur? Im all for hunting but not unless i use what i kill not judging just wondering if he was a nuisance or?

Most trappers trap for the fur, but some also trap for the live market. The coyote in this video was sold on the live market, and as far as I know it is still alive. It wasn't killed.

That kind of trap is cruel it should be made to dispatch immediatly. How many hours was that poor coyote sitting there in pain. Im surprised he didnt chew his foot off. Cant you use a Different type of trap for coyotes and wolves? Im not against trapping just the way its done sometimes. I know its a living .

Leg hold traps have huge advantages over other traps. They allow the trapper to release non target animals relatively unharmed. Some animals like canines will not walk into a live trap or a body gripping trap. If you set a body gripping trap for coyotes, there's a good chance you could catch someone's dog, and that can't be undone. In every state I am aware of you need to check your traps within a 24 hour period. Realistically, In most cases the animal is caught in the middle of the night and the trapper discovers them in the morning.
I can assure you that leg gripping traps don't hurt the animal that bad. I have intentionally put my fingers in them to demonstrate that it's not that painful.
Also, you need to start thinking at the population level, and not the individual level when it comes to wild animals and conservation. The coyote being in that trap is not the worst thing that has ever happened to it in nature. And they're a natural, renewable resource that can be sustainably managed. Think logically and not emotionally when it comes to conservation.
