It should idle after warm up around 900 RPM’s, but be around 1500 or whatever you adjust the automatic choke to be when it’s a cold start, if you have a electric choke anyways. That’s one nice gauge man, I need to get one of those for mine.
You can't use a regulator with a mechanical fuel pump? Im nkt a expert but the UA-cam Channel Muscle Car Solutions insists on using a regulator. Hes a amazing guy, will answer any and every question. At least he has fod me over the years. Very knowledgeable and works in the industry for a _very_ well know cam company. Just curious: What is the reasoning for not using a regulator with a carburetor?
also if its under 400 hp most of the time you want your idle in park around 600. 500 in gear unless you have a huge cam. adjust timing and carb. dieseling is to much fuel and or timing. and that fuel filter is ass. just ass.
@@projectswithjj sorry for the late response. The aluminum edlebrock filters work great but can leak. A generic sealed metal filter does just fine and helps if you keep it away from heat. I've got one on the frame rail and no issues.

He ordered two, the other service writer sold it from under him.
you can use a fuel pressure regular on a mechanical pump....been doing it for years. not to mention most street builds with mecks have regulators
