- Bacon Cheddar Biscuits - 100 Year Old Recipe Bacon cheddar biscuits will make any dinner a special occasion. These are delicious and easy to make. They are a simple heirloom recipe that has been a part of special occasion dinners for centuries. Their flavor, aroma and texture are divine. No ordinary roll can compare to them.
These were part of Christmas Dinner for missionaries in the Oklahoma Territory in the 1820’s and they have been a part of millions of special dinners. Find a special occasion of your own to enjoy bacon cheddar biscuits - a holiday, Sunday dinner, church potluck or a pot of homemade soup. You can’t go wrong with these biscuits.

Ingredients:
½ cup Crumbled Bacon
¼ cup Chopped Onion.
1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
½ cup Shortening.
1 ½ cups All-Purpose Flour
2 ½ teaspoons Baking Powder

What a perfect dinner! Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and these beautiful biscuits. Most likely, a 100 year old recipe used lard or bacon grease as shortening wasn't invented until about 10 years later s a cheap alternative to lard or tallow. Shortening is the most unhealthy version. Use bacon grease, lard, tallow, ghee, butter, even duck fat. Any animal based fat is much healthier than synthetically processed shortening. We were lied to about what is healthy for us. I love your channel, your recipies, and your allegiance to God. Blessings🙏🙌🙏
You always cheer me up. I'm really sick now n it's my 63rd birthday , I'm in bed with my 3 fur babies watching your videos. I can't think of a better day. You always show God's love on every video. That is one of the things I love about you, you will show Gods love and no care if it's considered not correct to do it. I myself will n do praise God n I don't care if people don't like it. Thank you for witnessing for the Lord. I am so blessed to have found your channel. My mamaw made the most delicious biscuits. She used clover leaf lard and homemade buttermilk. Never used a cutter but just her hands. They were perfectly round. When I use parchment or wax paper to knead my dough, I tape down the corners so it doesn't move around. I'm sorry but my grandma made these biscuits for any meal. They are the best with gravy on them. I love your channel cause you bring back memories of my younger years at grandmas house. I know there’s lots of Christians here so I’m asking you all to pray for the kneady homesteader. They were in a horrendous car crash that took the life of her husband. It was a drunk driver who hit them. She is still in hospital badly damaged with two broken arms two broken feet and on leg smashed. Her two younger children were damaged as well with broken arms. She was not expected to live but has come through. It’s devastating. They had eight children between them so this is a huge difficulty as he was the main provider. So please pray. They need everyone’s support.

I am so glad I came across this UA-cam channel it's been such a blessing in my life not only with the recipes because the main reason I watch is because you are a woman of God and I enjoy listening to you I enjoy the recipes and I've been saving each and every one of them hopefully to try them when I can and I am physically able to get back in the kitchen. Becky, I truly believe that you are one of God's best. That's why I am asking you to send up a prayer for Heather Conn and family of the Kneady Homesteader channel. The family was hit by a drunk driver Feb. 13. Her husband was killed in the wreck and her two children were hurt and she is on a long road to recovery. Thank you and God less you for all you do.
PS: Also, please pray for the drunk driver and his/her family. I believe they need prayer as well.

a week ago my younger brother was hospitalized due to having 2 brain bleeds. He has a thick blood disease that affects his heart and is on blood thinners. They had to reduce the dosage of his blood thinners and thank God the bleeds stopped. Now we are worried that with the reduced dosage, he could possibly have a stroke or another heart attack. I'm asking for prayers for him. I truly believe in the power of prayer. I have friends who don't believe in God and that is their choice but I still pray for them and offer prayers to them when they face uncertainty in their lives and they always thank me for the prayers. I know prayer works, I've seen the power of prayer many times in my life and I guess that is why I am asking for prayers for my brother. Sorry for rambling on
No such thing as bacon powder here in the UK but shredded bacon works very well. Thank you for the recipe Becky. These biscuits are delicious.
We southerners sound funny to everyone and sometimes, it takes a southerner to translate, so,... she was saying baking powder, not bacon powder. Although, I love bacon so much, I'd surely give bacon powder a taste too. ;-)

I agree 100% The first one i tried were the Salisbury Steaks in gravy. My husband said he wished he could have some like his mom made when he was just a boy. These were spot on and the gravy on the potatoes had him dreaming of childhood. Dirt poor but he had no idea that they were as he always had a belly full of good food. When I say I'm trying a new one he just can't wait to try it!
Becky, at the end I would love to see one broken opened, to see it's texture and the bacon, cheddar and onions. I can just smell them!

I think what we've gone through with the coronavirus I think our face should be stronger and I also think we need to always be appreciated for what we got and don't take it for granted and look at the pretty world and how the flowers look and be patient with God and be patient with other people because the world is so pretty when you just slow down I think that's what God was trying to teach us to slow down and not go so much and not be in your car and take life for granted amen Becky
