Psh has nothing on my 1998 Honda Accord... All joking aside this is my favorite generation of the corvette. My dad had a red 92 grand sport that I loved. Sold it right when I got my license hah smart man I suppose
remember seeing these new at a dealer a few blocks from my house. rode my bike over there looking at cars a lot. think I was telling dad the specs..... he had a fast tbucket, fast boat at the time and didn't care about vettes lol. anyway. I'm at least half old now and may buy one of these if the price was right one day. cool car.

Jacob S. Preciado I was speaking to the listed power on Gran Truism 2. If I recall they had it listed at 375 hp... of course GM uprated the output in '94. Some people are able to tune these engines, after a series of upgrades, and get them to put out over 500 hp.
Damn that car is clean, and I assume those Goodyears are original to the car… The C4 was such a crisp design. The price of the ZR1 was mind-blowing in '94, over $110k today adjusted for inflation. But then the value of the US dollar totally blows today.
Yes you heard correctly they are very nice engines and if u were to try to buy the engine it would be around 7,500 dollars or if its been redone it would be around 15,000 dollars
From Wiki: "Lotus designed a new engine to fit in place of the L98 V8 that was in the standard C4. The result was the LT5, an aluminum-block V8 with with four overhead camshafts 32 valves. Lotus also designed an air management system for the engine to provide a wider power band by shutting half the intake runners and injectors when the engine was at part-throttle. Lotus also helped GM design the ZR-1's upgraded braking and steering systems and settings for the adjustable active ride control.
Tyler Wallace, because if you're in your teens, or 20's right now, you can't possibly understand the feeling of excitement, & thrill of being a teenage car guy, or a Gearhead in his 20's in the late 80's were damn near every American performance car was hitting 16-17sec 1/4 miles @85mph, then around 1989 you started hearing the buzz of the new 1990 Vette (KEEP IN MIND THERE WAS NO UA-cam, NO GOOGLE, FACEBOOK, Etc..), then mid 1990 seeing the ZR1 on the street it was something you don't forget. The vette of the 80's was a 220-240hp sports car, then in 90-94 the ZR1 pushed the game to a whole other level..for the most part if you're a young car guy these days, you're spoiled with 4cyl, & V6's making well over 300hp, & the V8's making well over 400hp. That shit was a pipe dream for American performance cars from 1975 to around 1989. There were a couple of exceptions like the 87 GNX, & 89 T/A GTA
Another stellar review by yours truly!!! This is indeed a special treat, I dont believe it's possible to find one of these Corvettes! Thank you Mr. Kyle!
Thanks for posting such a great review of the best and the fastest production sports car of its era. The tilt front end and the rest of the car reflects engineering excellence. In my opinion it is the best Corvette ever made.
These cars were remarkable in their time and still beautiful today. I shopped around for a slightly used C4, not a ZR1, but working in the cotton mill didn't afford me one. This example is a beautiful car.
Great review. This is such a beautiful car. They made a total of 56 Admiral Blue ZR-1's over the 6 year ZR-1 production period from 1990-1995. They only made 448 ZR-1's in 1994 and 44 were Admiral Blue. Of the 44 Admiral Blue ZR-1's made in 1994, 21 had the light gray interior. So this car is fairly rare. It is amazing how well the 4 design has held up, it still looks great today.
I remember when you did the 1990 ZR1 it was over 2 years ago you have advanced your filming style and it is quite polished and very informative to watch :)
Saabkyle04 is the biggest and mainly the most comprehensive guide for pretty much the majority of cars that you can buy in North America, the only thing that would need is an European segment where he could target easily the European audience which is exposed to another car market, where many of the North American cars are expensive and taxed ridiculously, mainly due to their engine sizes.
Make sure you have your local Chevy dealership on speed-dial so you can take it in to have the widow motors replaced, and the digital speedo replaced as well. These were the first things to go on my 92 S10 back in the day. 420 bucks for a reconditioned speedo for an S10, so I can imagine how much more expensive it it for a 94 Vette.
Chevy shoud've persisted with this 32v V8 engine I reckon, they could've kept it for a top of the range ZR1/Z06 model, alongside the regular sohc 2 v for regular Corvettes. It's still a ripper engine
I love your content man, you're awesome. Just because there aren't really any descent reviews of this car, I, as well as many others, would love a review of the 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT Hatchback. It's probably dumb to request something, but It's worth a shot. Thanks for being awesome!
Fine, you win. I have to agree that both cars are very impressive, both C4 and C6 versions. I apologize for saying you were wrong, you weren't, I just have a soft spot for a 2001 Z06 is all.
which is proven to be slower around most tracks. They slide out of corners, whereas rear-wheel-drive cars can push though them and usually put the power down more effectively
Wow, my dream car!!! That car is the cleanest C4 ZR1 I've ever seen! It's like I'm homies with Doc. Brown, and I borrowed the DeLorean for a day to go back to 1994 and check out this amazing ride. Or is it going in to the future since it was 1985. Damn, I'm confused. Eh, does not matter. I'd go either way to take that specific ride for a ride :-)
Early C4's are electrical nightmares & the prices reflect that. I have a 94 with the LT1, 6 speed, & LOVE it for being headache free. That is where you are wrong my friend, as the 1997-2004 Chevrolet Corvette C5 is beautiful and even better and more refined car with an actual trunk. I've driven both the C4 and C5, and I have to say that the C5 is way more of a daily driver thanks to it's improved suspension and built quality over the C4, and it uses the great and mighty 5.7L LS1 V8 that made 350 hp. It's the most underrated of all Corvettes.
SERVICE LTPWS= Service Low Tire Pressure Warning System. Can also come on if the car has been idling and not moving. This car is mint. It's like someone bought it and stored it in a warehouse for 20 years.
Yes. And the new interior should be much better than the cheap plastic-like one in the previous Corvette. I definitely don't think the guys at Motor Trend and Car&Driver will be disappointed with the new car's performance.
nice review- the 94-95 vette got the passenger airbag, so they compensated for the lack of the glove box with smuggling compartments in the door panel armrests. they hinge up- you never know what you'll find in a 94-96 c4 armrest compartment.
This thing is GORGEOUS! And in MINT condition.

What a badass car, then and now...
Admiral Blue Metallic looks beautiful with this bodystyle but the interior is a stark reminder of how far the Vette has come
I have a 92 this same color . Base model though but still a beautiful color

So beautiful. The design is so simple and timeless. By comparison, I think recent Vettes are tacky with all their various scoops and vents.
The profile looks like a Ferrari Daytona, especially the convertibles. Check it out.!!!!!
Thank you I also think the old wedge is an awesome 👌 designed corvette
So true!!!! I hate the weird inbred herbie look of the c5. I’m about to start faulting a c4 and partially for that reason over the other generations

Dude Kyle way to go, I remember when you had just a few thousand subscribers and now you have 250,000! You really made something respectable man.
Lotus designed that motor? Was I hearing correctly?
Yes you heard correctly they are very nice engines and if u were to try to buy the engine it would be around 7,500 dollars or if its been redone it would be around 15,000 dollars
Yup
Yes. It was designed in conjunction with Lotus and built by Mercury Marine's MerCruiser division in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Brick12343 i heard they used lotus heads on a chevy small block.
GM owned lotus when this car was in production
Thanks for shaking my memory of how great the C4 is and where it finally became world class. A prime example here.
Wow. Can't believe this was posted six years ago! Still, a great help in determining whether to buy a '91.
This is the best channel for cars i ever seen...Nice job dude
the viper was the first domestic car to get to 400 hp in 1992 since the smog control era...so technically you are right saying 1st car above 400 hp
It used a v10. Chevy did it with a V8
In 1992 (released as a 1993 model) the zr1 had 405hp
I use to love looking at the stock c4 wheels with the multi slot look. Coolest looking wheel ever!

Awesome job.. What a beautiful example of a mid 90's beast...
I still remember the car magazines pissing their pants when the King was revealed.
The C4 didn't have a rear mounted transaxle. That didn't come along until the C5.
wrong it came out in 1990 when the C4 got updated to 350 horsepower.
I have a 90, trust me none of the C4's had a trans axle. base model for 90 had 245hp L98.
Is that true for the ZR-1?
RayJ-HT yes same for the ZR 1
C4 Corvette does NOT have a transaxle. Rear mounted transaxle was introduced with C5 Corvette, not the C4.
Agree, that boat even had the ZR1 taillights across the back of it. It was a true work of art from that era.
I like how u give a little history about the car kyle
I love seeing cars as old as I am, this Corvette is a case in point. Also, those rear tires..
