Thanks i follow your instructions all went good now i am able to login but unable to see desktop getting error "unable to graphic server - spice proxy: error resolving: name or service not known" kindly help
great github project (great presentation too) little question : you present the use of RPI as the thin client of this presentation (which remains an excellent product in itself and for this task). something prohibited from taking something else to become the "thin client" or it is adaptable to other hardware like an old PC or an "official" thin client
Another with the issue, Unable to connect to the graphic server - Spice proxy ************ name or service not known. Maybe something else needs installing on Proxmox?
Firstly, thank you for your very informative videos MRP. You have been a really big help in my journey of setting up a homelab. I've followed your instructions in the video, the only difference being I'm not PXE booting the RPi. When I try to connect to the VM, I'm getting a "Unable to connect to graphic server" error. I've been scouring the web for a solution but I haven't been able to find any. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
How you trying to connect to VM? From that error it sounds that you trying to VNC or RDP into VM which has no graphical interface. In another words, VM has no desktop UI.
The VM can be accessed with no issues when I try it via downloading the spice. Vv and opening it with virt viewer on a MacBook. For some reason it's not working on the RPi. The error code I'm receiving is Connection error(protocol error). I am able to telnet to my proxmox 3128 port from the RPi though so it's weird. I'm probably going to try installing a different OS on the RPi and see if I'm able to get this to work.
As far as i know - not at the moment. Not sure if Script creator will add that in to this, still ... what you asking i want the same, already started to look in to that.
Hello ! I did all the steps about 3 times, it always gave the same error on 13:15min video - "bash /usr/local/bin/vdiclient.py: env: bad interpreter: no such file or directory" any tips?
Thanks for posting - I got this working but when I click on Shell in my PVE and download the spice shortcut file there is no "vv" extension - any ideas ? (its file with no extension)
sorry this was on OSX using Firefox - on Chrome it works fine once I figured out homebrew and remote-viewer install - going to do it on the RPI next - cheers @@MRPtech
How RPi Thinclient is connecting to a source? Wifi or LAN? What speed is connection? How fast is your local network? A lot of factors plays up in performance of thinclient.
1. I use LAN 2. My LAN network is 1gbps 3.1 HP T630 4core4Theard for client 3.2 Elementary linux OS for VM I saw SPICE Protoco use too much CPU. Sometime, it going to 100% CPU of both client and VM. Do i have some misstake?
Unable to connect to the graphic server Could no connect proxy server xxxxxx:socket i/o timed out I dont know why it always show my like that. helpme! plz!
@@MRPtech I use Pi OS, Debian, elementary... All of them give the same error in PVE VDI show me all VM to Connect. But some error when i click Connect.

i had a quick look around but so far no luck. I did managed to get myself MacOS-Ventura virtualized in my proxmox server. Will start digging in to that and see if i can make something functioning.

@@MRPtech Hello, I replaced RPI with a thin client and VM, I have the same effect on everything. :( maybe e-mail contact would be easier? (For me, yes). Great tutorial, it works very good, however, you missed the way to pass the usb's from the rpi to the vm.. they dont work

Same issue! And there doesn't seem to be a solution on the web.

Should we need to install anything on VM host?
My both VM and Client use too much CPU.
Thanks!
wow, thanks!
Thank you for this video! One question. What if a user has access to multiple clients? Will they be offered which client they want to access?

4 times, the same error...any tip?
If you done chmod +x on that file. Why you running bash?
And it is *.py file which means it is Python and not BASH instructions.
Big Like 👍

Why do you click on shell and download spice file?
Rpi will connect to SPICE via Proxmox API and will do all spice file handling automatically
