Speaking as a person who likes to use shopping lists, I found that taking a picture of it is the best way to keep from losing or leaving it. ❤
And I use the list feature on my phone. Very nice for checking things off!
Brilliant
Great idea!
I do the same,
Same!
There was a moment in this video that clearly captures what I love about your channel. You were focused on a recipe, & then you quick look up & smile as if our presence surprised you (even though we’re not actually there) & instead on editing any of that stuff out, you are so unapologetically authentic- at least that’s how it feels for me as a viewer. But it’s just so wholesome & it’s part of why I absolutely love your channel💛
Tip form a dutch person, the almond paste is also really good in apple pie. Just make the pie the regular way and put the almond paste on the bottom between the dough and apple filling
From*
Becky doesn't make apple pie, she doesn't like it, however it is her husbands favorite
Thank you!! Great idea 💡
@@surelynot8914 There are plenty of people who read the comments and do make apple pie. Good idea Ravenfez !!!
Ik vind het een goede tip 👍🏻 Had ik als mede hollander nog niet eens aan gedacht 😊
Would suggest you look at what Charles Dowding from England does related to no dig gardening (he has virtually no issues with weeds) and he does a lot of succession planting. What he does is really impressive
Becky, don’t fear fiddle leaf figs. A few pointers: 1. They do not like to be moved. Find a good spot and let it settle in. 2. Keep it in it’s shipped container. Avoid repotting until the fig tells you when. 3. Doesn’t like sitting in water. Place the shipped container in another container with drainage space between the two. 4. Water every other week depending on your inside conditions. 5. Like to be fed. Choose a good quality liquid food specifically made for fiddle leaf figs. 6. Dust leaves gently. 7. Partial sunlight. Artificial grow lights are a good option.
Thanks for the advice!
Thanks!
Thnx... lol, I'm Becky too
Also keep out of drafts
😬 no offense…..I’ve been doing the opposite of most of this and mine are thriving. I truly think you have to learn that specific plant (as I said in my comment). 😊😊😊😊😊
I learn so much about general cooking techniques watching you! I love cooking, but not so much baking. But since I started watching you, I have made several breads and feel more confident doing it. Thanks for taking us on your cooking adventures!
TIP: to prevent frozen bread (buns included), wrap them in a towel while defrosting. It will prevent the edges from getting hard.
Put a cherry on top of a water bottle. stick it with a straw to spit the pit into the bottle. Tada. Or just use the straw holding the cherry into a bowl. Then just cut the cherries the same way you might cherry tomatoes: place a single layer flat, put a pan or plate on top to hold them in place, then run the knife horizontally to chop them all in half. Oh... and you should wear white more often. Gorgeous!
Hi Becky! I LOVE your videos. I watch everything from Spain and i LOVE It.
One tip fror Allioli. Here in Spain, we can make garlic mayo or allioli (only garlic and olive oil)
I let you the recipe in case you wanna try sometimes.
1 - 3 cloves of garlic (adjust to taste)
½ cup olive oil (a mild-tasting variety) or vegetable oil or half and half olive and vegetable
*Pinch of salt to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
Smash the garlic a bit with a pinch of salt to get the juices to release.
Slowly add the oil in a steady stream while continuing to blend. It took about 2 - 3 minutes of slow pouring to add all the oil.
The alioli should be very thick and creamy when finished. If not, you can add a bit more oil.
Season with salt to taste.
Note: you could also use a blender or small food processor, but you might have to double the recipe.
I hope you enjoy It. Thanks for allí your content. 😘
Thank you for that
I have just found your channel! Love it! You talking about potatoes. I remember growing up, my twin brother and I were so small and when Daddy would till potatoes, we would jump from daddy’s foot steps in the garden to follow him. My favorite was to find to new potatoes. I still like to boil them for breakfast.❤️
I hope the party was so fun! By the way there are tutorials on how to make beeswax cloth so you will have plenty at the ready. That could be a fun inside project :)
Don’t fear the fiddle leaf. Out of all my house plant it’s been the easiest to keep alive. I water it once a week and have it sitting in a corner that gets light but no direct sunlight and it’s thriving. When I first purchased it I accidentally snapped it in half so it was nothing more than a a broken stalk with no leaves, but I kept up it’s weekly watering and it’s leaves grew back better than ever.
Becky you can purchase 1/2” pvc pipe and bend (you will need to cut to length you need) and put one end down in your raised bed and bend other end down in bed across from 1st insert. Do this along the width of your bed. Then purchase 3/4” pvc and cut into 4” lengths and cut out about 1/2” gap. You then can purchase your plastic and cover your bed using the 4” pieces to snap over 1/2 pipe to hold plastic down. These same pipes can be used for netting or shade cloth in your beds. Good luck. We have down this for years. Will take your veggies into and through snow. Great in spring for starts also.
You can use a hair pin to pit cherries. Just pop it in the stem end, pull it under the pit, then pop the pit up and out !
Becky, I’ve heard you say during the Christmas season that you like minimal decorations. I am 68 years old and when I was young I was caught up in the whole decoration purchasing thing… ( for every holiday!)today I can think of many more things to spend my money on! Like umbrellas ☂️! You are wise beyond your years! Spending time with family and friends is most important for making beautiful memories 😊🙌GOOD FOR YOU BECKY!!!👏
Top blouse style looks so cute on you!!! Buy a cheap handheld cherry pitter. If you don't do a lot, that is the way to go. Makes like so much easier.
One of the most authentic cooks on U T,ube, looking forward to seeing the evolution of your little farm, Great work!!
One year I went to the dollar store and bought decorations for the Fourth of July. It worked out perfect and was cheap cheap.
The 4th snuck up on us too. July 4th and Christmas are my favorite holidays. Before I retired, I would take 2 weeks vacation around the 4th and 2 weeks vacation during the Christmas holidays. I’d leave my other 2 weeks vacation open for other short romps lol. But this 4th I actually forgot about it! I think, for me, that because of the last few years during the “flu” we all basically put things on hold. So guess what our neighbors on each side of us did? They brought us plates of BBQ! We had porterhouse and rib eyes steaks, smoked brisket, different salads, baked potatoes, different types of beans and veggies, even homemade pink lemonade. OMGosh, and the desserts. What excellent neighbors we have. So the next week, I roasted several whole chickens with all the fixings and sent them over. My dogs freak out at fireworks, so I didn’t miss the fireworks like we used to light when my kids were little, but the massive amount of good food we made I kind of miss. We are so blessed to have such considerate and thoughtful neighbors. Becky, we started raising earth worms. We use those, and worm casings to help with nutrients in our raised beds. We also release several hundred lady bugs, not just in the raised beds, but in our greenhouse. I’ve learned that any organic and natural measures work best.
You might think about making pickled onions and keep them in the fridge so you have them available as a garnish and also in place of onions and pickles for sandwiches and for salads.
i can a big batch ever year, so good on burgers
There are cherry piters! Great toole looks just like a hole punch, makes cherry pitting easy! Amaxon has many styles.
I love this! My favorite in the beginning "I should probably put an apron on" is my most repeated saying!
Your flowers outside your window are beautiful!!!!!
Take a pair of scissors to harvest your lettuce and herbs. Hopefully they are not damaged.
Keep a copy of your grocery list in your notes app! It helps me so much to have a digital list that I won't accidentally drop or leave in the car.
I like the notes app as you can turn it into a tick list, which helps me also keep track of what I have picked up and what I still need 😊
I must tell you your videos are educational. I was playing trivia pursuit with friends and a picture came up with a cabbage plant and because of you we got it right and won the game. So keep up on the videos!
@@annebrunner9698 Not the type no I didn't. What exactly is so funny about that exactly.
@@annebrunner9698 lets enjoy each other not hurt.
Decorations just makes things festive. Kids will enjoy them also. Have a great day.
canopys are spectacular for giving gardens shade in super high heat days
I purchased one set of the reusable bags and after using them for the first time I went back and purchased four more sets! I also purchased two sets for my daughter in laws….. they also love them! I got mine from TEMU.
It is so awesome!❤️❤️❤️💥 2:27
I use tomato feed for my indoor plants they love it, Rubber plants and my christmas cactus, not direct sun..so I put it in the shaded light.. and just before christmas, autumn time I put in the dark for a month..just before flowering at christmastime.
Good for you with fall planting. And a mini glass green house sound cute qnd useful !
Becky, nice job on getting all the food, and prep done for the 4th of July. That Galette looked delicious! I could eat potato salad daily. I'm the only one in my house who will eat potato salad therefore, I don't make it often.
Becky, have you and Josh looked at shade sails for your back porch? They provide excellent shade, relatively easy to put up, and take down. You can order them in any size. With or without gromments. And in any color. We have 2, one to shade our air conditioner compressor (cut electric bill cost), and the other to shade a sitting area out in back yard.
Super cute white top! Looks so good with your skin tone.
When you set up those awnings/canopy tents….get 4 of the 5-gallon Lowe’s buckets and bungee cords….fill the buckets with water and bungee the handles of the buckets to the poles in the corner (like up near your head). Tip from a swim team mom where the wind always tries to blow them away.
Becky, if you have straws and a plastic bottle, put your cherries on top of the open bottle use the straw or toothpick (I use bobby pin that is opened a little) Push into the centre of the cherries and the seed drops into the bottle and you have nice cherries.
I usually can't keep cactus alive, but I have no problem with my fiddle leaf fig! That is a great price for one! Excited for you - indoor plants have become an addiction of mine 😂 I just found a monestera and I love it!
Also, I CAN NOT wear a white shirt without staining it on the first wear. You're not alone on that struggle!
I just LOVE the view from your kitchen window! It is STUNNING!!🤩
My mom has had the same Christmas cactus for most my life(59 years). I also have 2 starts from my mother-in-law that are doing okay.
Yay! Hi Becky!
Thunderstorms overhead right now in Tulsa. 🌩️ Glad you got your truck tailgate fixed, that makes it handy. I started keeping my lists on my phone so I don't leave them at home.
Family makes that potato salad all the time except we bake it in the oven at 375 for 40 minutes before serving. Our family calls them the good potatoes. Add a little salt, pepper, garlic powder and top with a little extra cheese, bacon crumbles and chives. Great for leftover breakfast too and you can put them in the crock pot
I know that you enjoy the tedious things but if I can offer some suggestions. For me, it’s a better flow if I cut all the cherries, then pitted them. Same with the burritos, I would have put them all together and then wrapped them. Just so you not constantly picking up and putting down everything. Much love!
Also check out cool cabana on line we love ours. We use on the beach and fill the four pockets with sand but it can be used on a deck using a brick or something
I think that is so neat that you just go outside to the garden to get what you need !! Menu sounds good !! I’m sure y’all enjoyed !! 😀😀😀
Instant pot potatoes make potato salad soooooo easy! Hard boiled eggs, too!! Even fresh eggs peel so easily! Great Menu! Hope it was fun!!
I have found that using a Heavy Duty Garden Utility Cart Wagon or a Folding Wagon is a great help in moving 40+ pound bags of stuff from the back of my truck. I know the big home/garden centers carry the heavy duty (metal) ones and the warehouse stores carry the folding (cloth) wagons.
I hope you had a great 4th of July gathering. I'm amazed you threw everything together on such short notice. When I entertain, I obsess over every detail for weeks in advance.
35:45 I agree about potato salad being best when the flavors have melded together. Loaded Baked Potato Salad sounds delicious. I think I would have crisped and added the bacon just before serving. It would add a crunch to the texture of the salad.
37:50 Have you used up all your canned caramelized onions? Caramelized onions are delicious on burgers.
I’ve been on holiday for a week and I couldn’t wait to catch up on your videos Becky , only thing that’s made finishing my holiday bearable lol x
Becky, this is not a cooking question, but HOW do you keep your nails looking so nice with all that you do with your hands? Do you get them professionally done frequently? And thank you for your channel. It gives me peace to watch.
I use the walmart app for my grocery list! Even if im not going to walmart just an easy way to keep a running digital list throughout the week. And bonus, i can easily compare prices if i am shopping elsewhere!
I hope you had a great 4th!! The 4th of July was my Dad's birthday!! Every year we got together to cookout, have cake and then we went to watch fireworks. We went to the same spot every year and always got there 2 to 3 hours before they started. We had to ensure we got our usual spot. We then would just sit and talk and catch up with each other. We have been doing this since I can remember. I am 48 and I don't remember a time we didn't do it. Sadly this was the first year we didn't do it as we lost my Dad a few months ago at the age of 71! Please enjoy time with family and friends and make wonderdful traditions and soo so many memories!!! Love yall and God bless!!
I just adore your channel Becky. Your sunny personality just cheers me up and fills me full of optimism. You are an inspiration and a tonic. Love and light to you and your family from the UK 🥰
Love living vicariously in your summer while freezing my butt off in an NZ winter (I know its not as cold here as other countries winter gets)
Same!
Id love to live in NZ❤!!
Drowning here in my bit of NZ!
Me too! But I feel very water logged rather than cold here in Northland 😂
Hey Becky! It's always a good day when the notification for your video pops up 😊. I hope you have a wonderful day!
Good Afternoon Becky. So glad there was a video today. Thank you. I was wondering if you could show the drawers that you have your baking items in. I’m thinking of making a change in my kitchen and love where you have yours. It is so very convenient when you are baking. Love your videos.
Hi Becky... I wonder if you have made use of the utility vehicle you guys purchased for the garden? You could use that vehicle for the compost and manure or doing planting. I thought you guys purchased it but I don't think we've seen you using it yet.
Our family method for cooking brats is one or two cans of beer to cover and a couple of sliced onions. Boil this in a pot on the stove for at least 1/2 hour. Then toss the brats on the grill to brown and crisp up. Serve the onion slices on the side to top the brats. You can also use equal amount of water if you are serving the brats to children or non-alcohol people. But always the onions and serve on the side for brat topping. We also open a can of sauerkraut and heat for topping those brats. I hope you had great weather for your party.
Hi Becky Luv your channel . A trick for pitting cherries is to use a. Stainless steel straw . You just hold cherry and push straw through stem end through to the bottom . Way faster .
I just made ceasar salad yesterday. I just keep a tube of anchovy paste in the fridge. It's good for so many things. Definitely worth getting some.
I love your white blouse! I would love one like that! Where is your sweet baby when you are doing all of your projects? I have planted my first potato this year and I am so looking forward to the harvest.
Becky, although expensive you can not go wrong purchasing the following umbrella on line. Look at them goggle RST..these umbrellas turn 360 degrees and slant etc we have two for our very large deck and love them..
Love your blouse would love to know where you got it. It is so pretty. Love your menu!
I love all your videos ,love to watch you shop and then do big cooking ,Becky you truly are magical!
Love watching you plan a party!
I got into a baking class when I moved to Japan. I learned the hard way that measurements are so different than the US. The savory side was fine just measured in parts. But had to have a cheat conversion sheet near by for baking. My first sponge cake was inedible.
Becky, don't be discouraged--we moved to OK from CA 8 years ago, and the reason we're "finished" with some produce mid-July is because the garden BAKES by this time of year! It was 108⁰ yesterday, with a heat index of over 115⁰. It's nearly impossible to grow greens or berries or other non-high-heat crops out here now, so don't be discouraged--because I'm jealous! 😂
Oh my goodness! 108-115°. Definitely melt time. Poor you and veggies!
Great job Becky. That potato salad and galet looks soooo good!❤
@januarylisa8760 Girl, I hear you! We live in central OK (approx 45 min southeast of Norman) and this heat is hot! I only have tomatoes, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, peppers, beans, and strawberries still growing slowly. I have pumpkin, watermelon, squash, cucumber growing under lights inside my house. Any garden/yard work is done before 9AM or after 7PM.
Katy Texas is crunchy. Only peppers survived.
@@beadwright I can imagine it's crunchy there. Are y'all having issues with more snakes coming out due to the heat?
5:41 I find my fiddle leaf fig plants very easy to take care of. My tip……..learn THAT plant. I watered according to a video & mine quit growing. I went back to doing what I was originally doing & she started growing again.
I just looked up, you can save the seeds, from the pitted cherries. Leave the pitted cherries on the counter, to dry out for a week, then place in the freezer, in air tight container 10 weeks, then bring them out. To get to room temperature. Then pot up inside in pots, 3-4 pits per pot.
I have to clean as I go just making dinner-I’m impressed with your efficiency! I live in Central Oregon-Redmond-and am hoping to put in a few raised garden beds next year. I’m a retired elementary teacher and have time to do these things now! Love your videos!
Becky, I watch all of your videos and your personality is infectious. My husband sees me watching and says "oh, what's Becky up to today?" Lol thanks for sharing your story with us!
I made the gulant with peaches. Was wonderful with the almond paste at the bottom
Hi friend! Your videos put a smile on my face! Thank you for that. Life is hard and it's really nice to visit you and watch you doing whatever you are doing. Thank you Becky, for being you and bringing us into your life and blessing us . Many blessings....
Drainage for your house plants is key. Also a good soil and feed monthly during spring snd summer. I like to put some stones in the bottom of the pot just to help a little more with drainage. I have a jungle in my house and used to kill everything!! Research how much water and how often. Some plants like filtered light through a sheer curtain, indirect light, etc. You got this, Becky!!!
27:19 Hmm... A fresh apricot galette with almond paste sounds delicious. =)
Becky I have an app on my iPhone called AnyList that I use to keep track of my grocery list. I organized my list in the app by the order of the grocery isles that I usually walk through the store. I created a few different lists like one for Costco and other stores I go to sometime. That way when I go to any store I have a list for that store, as long as I don’t forget to take my phone. 😊
Hi! Have you considered wearing a mic in your kitchen? Your voiceovers are perfect but when you switch to kitchen talk I have to adjust the volume. Then get a blast when you switch back to voiceovers. I’m not tech savvy and I don’t even know if a mic would help this! Haha just a suggestion.
I look forward to seeing this party! And the appetizers. 💕
Made Breakfast Burritos this morning! I'm not an egg eater but think I may could eat these. My husband loves eggs, every morning. I don't mind eating them in salads and casseroles but just never eat for breakfast! Looking forward to trying them! Good recipe! Thanks Becky!
@marcialarson7617 I don't like the taste of scrambled eggs by themselves (too "eggy", if that makes sense 😆 ) so I generally mix in some milk, cream cheese, or mayo in before I cook them, which I find helps with the eggy-ness.
I watch the southern gardens also and think the same and when you get your fruit I still have another week or two, and I’m so anxious and before you know it the harvest hits you, I’m zone 6 b Washington north of pOrtland😊
easiest way to pit cherries without red fingers after is a soda bottle and a chop stick put the cherry over the opening then stick it with the chop stick going all the way thru and there you have it pitted cherries
If you had a pop bottle and a straw you could sit the cherry on top of the bottle opening and push out the seed with the straw into the bottle
I always take a picture of my list . That way if I leave it or loose it I have it on my phone. You can also get an app for grocery lists
I like cooking but I also like a break and have someone else do it for a night or two, I get quite stressed and overwhelmed if I have to cook for more than just us 3 😂, I think you do a wonderful job of just being able to cook so much in just one day.
my friends and i watch your videos the day they come out and we love them!! please keep up the amazing work
When stoning cherries I use a metal drinking straw to push the stones out, so much easier
At 39 minutes, the view of the wall between your garage and the door to your upstairs, you need a pretty buffet or some sort of furniture on that wall. 🙂 Always enjoy watching you cook, it’s so impressive how much you accomplish.
Yea I was just looking to see if I could have coffe with Becky this morning 😊
My daughter works at Costco. You may want to check the back of the store where that sort of thing may be instead of in the aisle where it used to be. They periodically move things around especially toward the end of the season for that particular item. Just a thought. BTW, I found it difficult to hear you during your cherry dish. My volume was at 100%.
I’m on my third year of having a cold frame and you would be surprised to see all that will stay alive all winter. I’m in Iowa in zone 5a and keep cilantro, green onions, parsley, kale, lettuce, spinach and chard Alice all winter. I don’t heat it and it does get down in the negatives. I can’t wait to see what you winter grow!
Great video! Thanks for bringing us along. Can’t beat a good apron for saving our cloths and increasing the longevity of them. That’s why our grandmothers and great grandmothers wore them 🙂.
I am the exact same!!! White is a color I love to wear, but it is a contest to see how soon it will get dirty!!!
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who says how long before I stain this top. I don't even buy white tops anymore cause I'm a mess doesn't matter how hard I try whatever I'm wearing gets stained. I always look like I'm in mourning cause black hides the stains.
Fiddle leaf figs are super easy for me… just give a heavy soak… but then it has to completely drain. It also likes 75-80%humidity. So either mist heavily daily or get a cool mist humidifier for the room. They do LOVE a heavy feeding of blood meal 2 times a year.
Hi Becky! The white shirt looks great on you. It’s just par for the course that when you wear white you get something on it. It’s an ongoing joke in my office. Second I wanted to let you know that I canned cowboy candy from your recipe yesterday for the first time and it is very good. I also made homemade peach hand pies yesterday using your crust recipe and they are excellent. I texted my secretary and told her I was “getting my Becky on” because she hears me listening to your videos at work sometimes. I bought the electric canner you recommended last winter and now that I’ve gotten over my fear I look forward to preserving our garden and fresh fruit from local farmers.
Fantastic vlog! Thanks for sharing all the great summer recipe ideas! 🤗💗🇨🇦
A canopy with adjustable legs would be nice to move around your garden when you’re doing big projects or harvesting to give you some shade.
Hi Becky , Every thing is going to be delicious for your guests at the party , so wonderful of you to do the get together for your family and friends. Have a happy day..
What a genius idea to gather in a planter pot! That may not have been intentional but the plastic with holes is fabulous. I like the esthetic of a gathering basket but prefer the logistics of the planter. I could rinse off veggies that may be extra dirty right in the planter. 😊
Tip: I prefer written lists and always use them. However, I also take a photo of the list so it is on my telephone in case I lose the paper version. Thank you for the video!
I love your tenacity. Thank you for sharing and informing.
