I won Mercedes apprentice of the year in 2017 and got to spend a week at the factory in Brackley. Met James Allison and Bottas and saw how the factory runs. Such a good experience.
That was really cool to see. I had no idea about the 3rd screen, so it's doing its job correctly. Thanks for all the content you upload for all the fans.
I think it would be very interesting to show us some things about how fuel and ers are used during a race. Can the drivers change the rate of consumption of any of the above directly from their steering wheels or do they need to speak to their engineers first? Or something like that... Hope it's a topic you can talk to us about. P.S. If this is sensitive data pls don't talk about it xD Cheers and keep killing it on and off track
I think I heard lando talk about it. Basically the engineers decide when to use what engine mode. And the only thing the drivers can use is the overtake button which uses ers. Not sure about normal ers deployment. This also explains why you hear drivers asking for better engine modes for extra power.
They have preset engine modes and ERS modes from the factory that control deployment, fuel rates, engine power etc. The race engineers get on the radio and tell the driver to select an engine mode. Basically, the pit wall cannot directly change anything on the car. The driver has to do it on the wheel after being advised by pitwall. Of course, rarely drivers will change modes against the wishes of the engineers, and this has created some of the most memorable race moments where drivers used illegal modes to gain an advantage (ROS and HAM in 2015-2016). Mostly, you will see drivers asking for permission these days to fiddle with the modes on the steering wheel, or after being advised to do so by the pitwall.
You know all teams gave us the humour side of F1 but you guys are the only one who gave us actual insight into Formula 1. Thank you for that. Keep up the hard work guys. BTW eagerly waiting for the debrief........
i love mercedes too.. in the first stages of the v6 turbo hybrid era, i asked in the comments about technical stuff regarding their engine and the channel graciously answered and explained.. i did not expect that they would respond to any fans in the comments, it was amazing
Exquisitely insightful! Accentuating the important responsibilities during the race weekend, the importance of selecting the strategy throughout the racing process! Every role excellently described & elaborated!
What would I like to see next? Vettel: "That's fine. My first suggestion, if you don't mind, could be that your garage becomes public for Malaysia and everyone can have a look. Is that what you're suggesting? No, I'm joking."
Thanks! I love anything behind the scenes. I also enjoy tools, so behind the scenes with the mechanics, considerations of rolling garages around the world and how they work so closely together on the car.
I'm really glad you guys make these. I learn so much about the inner workings of F1 teams, the engineering, the strategy. My dream is to one day be an engineer for you guys
It's honestly amazing seeing behind the scenes of the track-side team, but I'd LOVE to see what happens back at the factory. I think it'd be super interesting seeing what all those guys bring to the table on race day, as they never have any time in the limelight over a Grand Prix weekend. You always hear the drivers thanking them after a win, so surely they play a massive part?
Like me and many Brazilians who are fans of Formula 1 and with Airton as "Senna" as inspiration, I want to thank you for giving us the opportunity of many Sundays to rejoice with the victories of your cars and especially with the Lewis Hamilton car. And to you Hamilton, who also inspires us, to continue along with yours, bringing joys and inspirations to all peoples around the world! A company like Mercedes is only successful, because there are competent people, whether male or female, and the tip is "Team that is winning does not move under any circumstances". I wish many more years of success for all of you !!
You guys are great, thanks for sharing so much interesting content! I'd love to see some of you less "famous" or visible team members and what they do. Machanics, designers, factory personnel, etc. Thanks again!
Ohhhh, there is a hidden screen in the desk! That's cool! I didn't know that was there. Show us more of your pit crew please, it would be nice to know more about what they do, and who they are

Thanks for the info. Also we need yo decoding the formula 1 racing terms and every techniques as used in modern racing times as reduce the technical barriers to the spectators.
A suggestion, if I may: put a soft shadow behind the subtitle text. The way it is, it vanishes against white backgrounds. Anyways, love your videos, you guys create amazing content! Keep it up.
Great video awesome to see things so up close and personal! A suggestion for a future video. Since tyres are a hot topic, no pun intended.Which basis does the team use to understand tyre wear. How do you calculate, in simple form, when to pit or when not to pit, all things considering. Upvote if you also think this is interesting!
Lol anyone here after Monza 2020 pitlane penalty? 'My job is to make sure we stay out of trouble with the FIA'...lool awkward, Rare slip up from Mercedes with the communication to Lewis about closed pit lane.

Here is where the “Get in there Lewis” button located
Nguyen Duc Hung underrated comment
It is not. The guy that says „Get in there Lewis“ is Peter Bonnington and he is sitting in the garage
And if you look to the left you can JUST see the 'Valtteri it's James' button
Next to the "Hammertime!" toggle.
They still have yet to explain what and where "there" is that Hamilton needs to get in.
Mercedes are so good that I know their crew members along with their drivers
Really one of a kind.
Mercedes have become so dominant, that they don't mind sharing their routine with rival teams
Legend has it they're purposely making their tires degrade quicker so they can actually have competition
Even the best strategy needs to be coupled with great implementation.
