    "spend your money on a scope and what change you have left get a gun"
    Is what I learned recently.

    I believe there are events for Springer rifles in HFT also, so every one can have a go even if you can't afford the cheapest second hand PcP set up. Any cheapy sub 12ftlb Springer can use, it's All about putting that pellet where its needed, I had a friend a few years,ago that had an old Czech made Relum Tornado that he bought at a car boot sale, for 20 quid,(he was robbed) :) anyway we were shooting the old swan red match sticks at 30 yards in his parents orchard, I was using my brand new weihraunch hw 77 with a Nikko Sterling 3-9 x 40 compared to his old 4 x 20 bsa scope, Well he put me to shame has he was knocking them down like matchsticks, excuse the pun, he could even just shoot the heads which made a nice little fireworks display, Moral of the story,he was a bloody good shot with a keen eye. Yes good equipment is an advantage but at the end of the day it's the man behind the gun.

      Agreed. I have a hw99s in 177 and can hit a 2p sized target up to around 40 yds away. My mom can too and she's only been shooting with me around 3 times 😂👍

    Great video Roger, love HFT, like you said there are many ways to start out, like me, I started with a £20 scope. It was a piece of rubbish, but sooner than later, I got a better one from a mate.

    But not just any gun would be legal to use in the competition so its would be nice to hear specifically a gun model.

    soooo, you push using PCP.....what about spring piston/break barrels rifles? how much fps do you need as a minimum to shoot the HFT? can you use a Pump Up pellet rifle like a Benjamin/Sheridan model 397?

    Can't we do HFT without taking it so seriously? What's wrong with a CO2 gun? Surely the fun is the gun and being able to test yourself without disappearing down a specialist equipment rabbit hole.

    • @oddjob7821
      @oddjob7821 Рік тому

      I agree. I've never used a CO2 I've always used springers so it's what I'm used to. If a CO2 works for your needs why not.
      When I did some FTL it was in the early 80s . Used an Original 45 also owned a HW 35 and Webley Vulcan.
      I feel these types of rifles represent what a person would use in the field.
      Things move on I suppose.
