Genndy's Clone Wars series was part of a Multi-media Project that ran from 2002-2005, and featured not only this Micro-series but books, video games, and comics that told the story of the Clone Wars leading up to Revenge of the Sith, and this was before George Lucas and Dave Filoni's Clone Wars in 2008 I might add. The Clone Wars Multi-media Project or CWMMP for short was part of the old Expanded Universe now called Legends. Filoni's Clone Wars sadly retconned the previous material, including the Micro-series.

I enjoyed this more than the 2008 show because it focuses on Anakin and doesn't waste our time with numerous filler arcs, pointless stories, and cringeworthy jokes. It expands upon the concepts of the prequels rather than contradicting them.

This series was only meant as advertisemen for revenge of the sith and other merchandise. therefore not much talk about all of the feelings the jedi felt and the republic peoples thoughts, are explained in the comics and novels that made up the rest of the Multimedia project. This series was never meant to make you emotional, it was meant to make you feel "oh my god thats so badass! I cant wait to watch the movie!" All other characters like the ones you mentioned and ESPECIALLY quinlan voss are coverd in the books and comics, like the republic comics for example
2008 Clone wars definitely has higher highs and better overall storytelling. Also given that’s it’s 7 seasons it’s kinda unfair. But both are fantastic and 2003 clone wars is definitely more consistent in quality and also doesn’t have any of the 2008 series lows. Great video!

By the way, the 2003 fits so much better and so much natural with the Expanded Universe as a whole (specially with the Clone Wars Multimedia Project) and with the movies specially.

I love how the only real criticisms it can be given aren’t even faults of any of the creators, it’s just the show being too short because they wanted to fit each episode inside of an ad break. I’m really sad that Genndy hasn’t done an episode of Visions, that man really has paved the way for Star Wars animation and yet he’s not in there. I hope that he was just too busy or something cause I would be absolutely devastated if they never asked him to do an episode when they asked the fucking studio that made Wallace and Gromit. Like cmon Genndy’s got an anime-like style he’d fit in perfect with all the rest. I wish he was in charge of the animation department too instead of Filoni cause I’m sorry that man can only make good stories every here and there, not too often.
As if The Clone Wars 2008 doesn’t give us important character moments and lengthy storylines that add to the canon… the story in 2003 Clone Wars really isn’t the main focus unfortunately. However I do think 2003 Clone Wars is a masterpiece and we should see Ventress’ introduction and Palpatine’s kidnapping in canon one day!

This is 100 times better than 2008. Episode 2 & this as followup combine lead perfect seg into revenge of the sith. Durge is cool bounty hunter dude, ventress is defeated & dies, Anakin is powerfully unkillable alone and stands master level rank alone by himself without being a pestering master with a Padawan, there's nobody named ahsoka she doesn't exist. That's Dave balonys bullsh** for dupe. Mace windu proves a Jedi is masterful & still skilled without lightsaber, general grievous is killer & mad machine murderer. & Anakin's voice actor sounds just like Hayden Christensen. Matt lantern sounds nothing like Anakin from the movies. Sorry. Matt Lucas is his name right? He sounds just like Anakin. Better story series tie in after episode 2 & between episode 3. Less said is good, more is too much. Dave you're not an expert for perfectly remaking the series, genndy was here first way before you. & he got it just right.
I liked the micro series, but it doesn't have much in terms of real story. It's a lot of action, and the Jedi are like superheroes with how powerful they are. The Anakin storyline was cool though
Idk why but in my mind this fits in with the current Disney canon since alot of stuff transfered over like Anakin becoming a jedi early in the war the fact that it still some what acts as a origin of ventress ( they could have changed it with a book or something) and the stuff at the end of the war with Anakin could have just been earlier than it was implied

Filoni's Clone Wars also wasted a lot of screentime on Ahsoka rather than Anakin, the main protagonist of the prequel trilogy

Revenge of the Sith butchered Grievous the way The Last Jedi ruined Luke Skywalker.

But Anakin didn't became knight early in shows timeline. While in TCW he already has padawan, in CW03 he is getting knighted.
