    When we moved into our new home we noticed that our air condition never turned off or caught up. Our unit was original to the house from '93 an was never maintained! It was time for a switch!
    Mr. Cool graciously provide me with a universal whole home unit which included a new furnace, coil, and outside heat pump. This combination is killer! I'm using 1/2 the electric I was previous, and the unit can keep up and cool down the home in a flash! Not only that, but it's extremely quiet!
    I'm all in on Mr. Cool. The shop with its mini-split and now the universal whole home unit. Thanks to its 10 year warranty and quality parts and craftsmanship, it's one less thing I have to worry about as a home owner!
    Special thanks to Searcy Heating and Air for installing and letting me film the process. These guys are the absolute best and very professional! If your in the central Arkansas area (specifically White Country) they should be your first contact when you need heating and air specialists!

    Hey Ben, can you do a Mr Cool update on your home unit? How many Kwh did you consume on average in the last two summers? How is the unit performing? Any issues? Would you do Mr Cool again? Thanks in advance for any updates!!

    Nice and informative video .What would the approximate cost of the complete unit and installation vs a traditional unit and installation? I have a mini split in my shop but didn't know there was something like what you put in your house. I seen them like the one in the shop with multiple wall units, not one that appears to use the duct work in the house.

    Hey Ben, how's the Mr Cool Heat pump doing? I'm looking to install pretty much the same exact unit outside and just a air handler inside since we live in central florida, no gas heat needed. I think you have had this unit running about 1/1/2 years now and I'm curious as to how its performing and how your power bills are doing. I would appreciate any reply. Great video!!!

    I installed 2 of these bad boys. Need to switch to 4 tons - bill was high. Hit 3600kw in january(first month) was a little shocked. But man our house was warm for once. No heat strips installed! Never missed a beat. Minus 9 f outside- 73 inside. 6000sf house. Next month (Feb) 3000kw. Next month 2600kw. Now April 2023 and it’s off - thank god. Lol it is high quality for sure. My 2 tranes I took out look so cheesy compared to these. I love it. Just need solar now to run it all.

    There are a lot of things Mr. Cool doesn't tell you that I'd like answered. What is the minimum and maximum btu it can output since it is variable? How does it wire up in a standard way and still work variably? When you use a regular thermostat does it just act like a 1 speed? Do they have a variable thermostat? Does it have modes or fan speeds? How much moisture can it pull out in a day? What is the sensible heat factor ratio? They market it with no information and wouldn't provide it when I asked.

  • @airbluehvac
    @airbluehvac 2 роки тому +1

    hello, in this setup you could absolutely use 2 speed/2 stage cooling. does you furnace and thermostat wired to give you 2 stages of cooling taking full advantage of efficiency and comfort/reduced noise/better dehumidification of variable inverter outdoor unit?

    Side discharge heat pumps have a weakness, and that weakness is accumulating snowfall. Snow can fill up the lower part of the unit and immobilize the fan. It's especially important for side discharge heat pumps to be mounted on a stand that is higher than the highest typical accumulating snowfall.

    Are you 100% sure the universal split system you linked is the one you have? The one you linked has an air handler included, but in your unboxing it's just the a-coils. I have a mrcool universal split for my upstairs, but would like to run universal split + gas furnace for downstairs/main floor.
    Also, have you confirmed you can use the heat pump heat in addition to the heat from the furnace? My understanding (based on mrcools website) is that the split + a coils only are for cooling only, and that you have to have the full universal (including air handler) to get heat from the split.

    Had a 3 ton Trane that looked just like that. Split it up into two two ton units for upstairs and downstairs. The Rheems are going on ten years now and any replacement will be done with a 3 ton MRCool. Can oversize it and leave out the electric backup. As for the air handler in my attic the old one is still sitting there. I tried cutting it up with a sawzaw. When I clean the attic I will have to try more extreme measures.

    Sorry, but it is not a DIY project. Too many reasons to even get into. A professional installation is the difference between 1-3 years of happiness or 15 + years of happiness. The moisture in the lines along with the non-condensables are going to cause a problems down the line. There are too many industry specific tools and knowledge required for a DIYer. And what if something goes wrong, how would a DIYer even know what happened or what to do.

    • @optionstraderman
      @optionstraderman Рік тому +1

      Actually, the Universal Mr Cool unit can be DIY'd using their Precharged Line Set. The coil and the condenser are also precharged, so theoretically, (if you have no leaks from manufacturing) there is no moisture issue to worry about and no refrigerant volumes to worry about. Of course, this assumes that there are no leaks in any of the components when you get them. Also, if you use their pre charged line sets, the provide full 10 Year warranty on compressor and I believe Lifetime Warranty on some of the other units. If you use flared or brazed line sets, the DIY warranty is reduced unless it is installed by a licensed professional. It's a whole new world in the AC Business with the pre charged line sets and components. Most professional AC folks that don't sell this equipment and don't understand it are going to likely fight this trend as it removes a lot of the specialized HVAC labor, tools, time and expense needed to install one of these. It remains to be seen how long it takes the local AC Dealers to embrace this new way of installing AC Equipment. If this unit is built by Gree as others have suggested, it should be a pretty reliable machine for many years. Only time will tell.

    The 17 / 18 seer rating would depend on if you have the DIP SWITCHES set to 4 or 5 ton, that would be my guess. I was hoping you would be replacing the furnace and make a whole heat pump system.

    Hello Ben, Fellow Arkansan here. I live a few minutes south of Little Rock. Saw you recently on 731 WW livestream. Don't know why YT hasn't ever suggested your channel to me. Nice shop you've got, and when I finally build mine, I'm taking inspiration from yours as well. I have several 3D printers, including a MK3. Plan to add a CNC once I get into the shop. Enjoying the mix of content! Keep it coming sir!
    Question.... How did the cost of the Mr. Cool system, including install, compare to a standard AC system? Higher, comparable, less? Thanks.

      @MyersWoodshop  3 роки тому

      Awesome! Glad to find more diyers like us in arkansas! Sounds like a shop i'd love! Look into the Onefinity CNC when you start buying one.
      The Mr. Cool system is comparable to most of the 'normal' stuff that gets installed. The company in the video has a little rock service team, so if you go for new heating and air, they're definitely the ones to call and are now versed on mr.cool too. I wouldn't change a thing so far! About 3-4 weeks in, it's great!

      @@MyersWoodshop Thanks for the info. Is it quieter on the inside than your last house system?
      I'm definitely going to be replacing the whole system eventually. It's 21 years old and, like you, I purchased the house recently. Jan. 2020. It looks like the attic was built around it. Don't know how this giant is supposed to fit thru the tiny access door.
      I almost started the shop build in spring, but held off waiting for material pricing to correct. And of course now the sheet metal has increased ridiculously. Wishing I had gone ahead and done it right after moving in here. Oh well, such is my luck.
      I appreciate your CNC suggestion. I will be watching your CNC vids, old and new. I like that your content is mixed.

    10 seer units from the 90s was perhaps the best units for the time. Rheem/Ruud with the then new copeland scrolls and Trane climatuff compressors are the last generation of units that last forever.
    After Trane moved manufacturing to mexico in the late 90s, quality went out the window. No brand has been the same since.

    Mine broke down 3 times in less than year. First a major Freon leak then the out condenser unit compressor broke. Then another Freon leak. I wouldn't recommend this brand to my worst enemy.
