Is it even worth it? Seems like a stupid thing to do. The guy in front of you won't start going slower just because your lights are off, and meanwhile you'll just be endangering yourself by trying to catch up to him without any light.
ralph tac-an You turn off your lights so you can see the reflection of the incoming cars better. they reflect on the door of the other car your racing. with the lights off its better to see. also they cant see you. so they might relax thinking ur not back there. that lets you close the gap.
yeah give the guy a false sense of security and all of a sudden when you turn on the headlights, you surprise/shock and put him on panic mode, overwhelming his cognitive capability. Whilst he is still in shock. you pass him and then it will be an uphill struggle for him from then on.
Yosako Mimoto yes these guys just did it for the bants the front car shouldn't do it because they risk it for no reason in this one 8t was just for fun
So... I just wanna put this out there in case any kids are checking this out. Y'all pease don't try this. It's not worth it. There are a lot of moments that could have gone really bad in this video. It may seem fun, but one bad moment could easily put you (or someone else) in a guardrail. Not to mention, it could have you locked up. We all love Initial D, but plain and simple public roads aren't for racing. You could do track days, autocross, go-karting, or even some sim-racing games, but this... it'll have you walking a fine line between life and death. Life is already too short. Use wisdom. Spread love. God bless
Star wars fan Using the inertia is easy on rally stages and more open areas, but on a mountain pass road it is dangerous because you're shifting the weight from one side to another so you can hit a guardtail and spin out if not careful.
When i was a 13 years old my dad teach me how to drive a car my dad have a two cars one is lancer evo 4 and the other one is honda i think?? I experience that kind of driving.when i go to my grandfather in the mountain and i was 16 in that time....... But its fun :)
lemonkill I was less than 10 when I drove a manual,I was and I am tall so I've reached the pedals,I am only 15 but I bought myself a project car and I want to drive as good as them, both on the streets and track,I know some places
Awesome video!!! But how do you guys enter corners without knowing if a car is coming?? do you have like friends at check points to tell you if cars are coming?
***** very true this tactic can even be used in a non racing aspect like when i turn on to a block or blind road i see if i can spot a light or glare off parked car (if it is a day light usually off the relfection)
There are many ways to tell if there's oncoming traffic: 1. this particular road has power lines that run parallel to it. When cars approach from the opposing lane, their headlights reflect off these lines giving the driver ample time to jump back onto their lane. 2. running a dimmer light bulb (under 4,200 kelvin) that way, everyone else's lights will be brighter than yours so you'll immediately know if there's oncoming traffic. The benefit to driving an older Subaru is that they still use halogens vs HID technology of the newer cars 3. keeping the driver's side window cracked by an inch and running a quiet exhaust. On this particular road, any oncoming traffic can be heard from a distance as sound waves bounce off many of the structures on the side of the road. (this obviously wouldn't work on an empty country road) Few tips to becoming a proficient touge driver: Know when to flip on/off high-beams/low-beams. Upon corner entry: low beams. Corner exit: high beams. Why? When entering a blind corner with low-beams, you can spot oncoming traffic easier. Switch back to high-beams at corner exit to re-draw the optimal driving line for maximum speed.
The RX-7 is missing the GT Wing used to race against Rin Hogo's R32 GT-R (Shingami). With the retractable headlights replaced with the non retractable ones to allow improved aerodynamics and the supercharged upgraded engine, this would certainly assist Ryosuke's ability to run away from Takumi's dad, who we know as the Drift King.
4:10 this is an actual type of blind attack when the leader opens a slight gap you can turn off your headlights and the moment the gap closes you turn them on again, which will shook the leader a bit and theres a chance you can pass him because of that mistake, its a one time thing because the second time you do it, he will already know he didnt pass him here because maybe the leader wasnt shook enough or it was just for a joke or they werent racing seriously or i could be just dead fucking wrong
Ok gotcha. Tires are gunna get stressed regardless but yes, finding that perfect line with greatly reduce the stress. There's more than just the line that contributed though.
Mikey Sellars knowing the road that u r running on will give you the advantage of taking a sharp curve faster. Looks like they have run this road more than once. I'm telling you cause I just to run like that in a canyon with my friends. After driving so many times on that road. You know every single curve of the road and you can take that curve faster than any other car. It's all about on the experience you take driving a road.
+Mikey Sellars naw bruh that spot is about 30 min from my place and it is nice. the light they leave from has a a great straight away to start with a drag before reaching the first turn
When you are street racing its not about being at night being able to see headlights. From experience, you won't see any lights in depending corners. It's mostly all about chance. Racers are risking our lives every time we race on the streets. Same goes for cops. We are taking that chance. Btw, the race was absolutely beautiful. Nice job on the close call in the corner with pedestrian car. I have only done the headlight maneuver one time before. I want to try the gutter move but we don't have gutters where I'm at. And Ty for the modification info.
Was it real racing or fake? I'm driving a car but it's pretty hard to understand what is their speed. Experts, can you answer? Also I hear some talking in the video. Probably English speech. And they were laughing also. So, it don't feels like a real race. Subaru driver wasn't even trying to overtake Mazda.
Togues with subarus are always good races but the way they drive is so unnecessarily aggressive i really dont like it. Like the fc is still in his lane and youre not gunna pass him why hit the opposite lane on a road that had cars on it when you started the togue. Drive smarter not harder

Either Ryosuke was going all out, or Bunta wasn't even trying.

That FC is definitely Bone stock. Respect
Is ironic enough that initial d is not a fictional story but a "based on true story" thing.
what? No gutter run....no inertia drift? Bunta is really losing his touch as he gets older.
He just hasn't gotten used to the left hand steering and American roads.
