Actually the movie company had a dilemma on their hands...they had 2 unreleased movies with a dead lead / supporting actor. They had all the photos, they set the machine in motion......the legend was born. Unfortunately for him his last performance was dismal. .. .the old Jett rink.
He hated those scenes himself & wanted Stevens to cut them. They don't detract from his amazing performances in East of Eden & Rebel however. Wish we could have seen more often, a real tragedy.

I went to school with John Malcovich, Laurie Metcalf and others who formed Steppenwolf Theatre which is in Chicago. I used to watch them perform and knew they would make it. I saw all three of Jimmy's movies and knew that he had a God given talent. He made those characters come to life. Artiscally, I felt it. I look at his performances in a creative way. It's just my opinion. Julie Harris was right. He was mesmorizing. Tragic of how he died. His legend continues to live on till today. Take care
