yes, new techniques to play with!! i could see how versatile your style in abstract painting, thank you for sharing!!
You are welcome! If you do experiment with these techniques, let me know how they worked for you.
Your video has me excited to get back into my studio after a “dry” spell. Lots to play with, thanks!
I’m so excited to hear that! Happy playing!
My high school art students love this video! Thank you for sharing your techniques.
Haha thanks Julie! How wonderful to be able to help students (presumably) at the beginning of their art journey!
Thank you for the informative video!! I loved the techniques you showed, especially the paper transfer- great work!🙌
Thanks so much, Jasmine! And you are very welcome 😄
Hi, Jeannine. Thanks for sharing your techniques. You've given me and my husband a number of things to try with our own paintings. Well done!
That's fantastic! Would love to hear how the techniques worked for both of you.
I’m really enjoying your videos, Jeanine. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to see your future content.
Thanks so much, Dian! Glad you’re enjoying them.
You are a great teacher. Thank you for many many intriguing ideas!
Thanks so much! I hope you’ll try some out
Thank you Jannine, some lovely tips and ideas. Your videos are so well edited ❤
Thank you! Glad you've found it helpful.
these techniques are really interesting, thanks for sharing ☺
Thank you! So glad you’re enjoying them.
Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you Jeannine..love your work:)
Thanks so much! I'm glad you found my video 😄
Thank you Jeanine. I appreciate you sharing the variety of techniques. I’m going down to the studio and have myself a play at trying them. I forget that I can pull out some wood panels to use. I think I will have to go get some more of those. Wishing you well.
You are welcome! I love wood panels. Such a different feel to working on canvas. Let me know how it went!
Fun to watch your creative process of very controlled disicions and then choosing mediums and qualities of materials and techniques that open into surprises - ending with a series of small abstracts radiating the beauty of the unknown and a kind of dreamscapes 🎶💜🎵🦄
I do love the balance of control and surprises. That’s what makes the whole process so fun
I’m an art teacher out for summer and really excited to develop a regular art practice. I’m trying to teach myself new skills and although I’ve heard of alot of these techniques there were a few I haven’t tried. you r a great teacher thank you
Thank you, I’m so glad you learned a few new ideas. Best of luck with your art practice! Don’t take it too seriously and enjoy the process
This video was very interesting. some are new to me .i will definitely try it too. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.😊
Thanks, Marjo! I'm glad you learned something new. Hope it goes well :)
I’m very much enjoying this series, and looking forward to seeing how it evolves. I read somewhere that by layering dramatic colors and marks beneath your finished layers, the finished pieces will have “history.” I wish I could remember who to credit with that description, but it helped me understand why the initial layers are so important. Your videos are illustrating that very idea, as well. Thank you for sharing your process!
Thanks, Kate! Yes, building layers is such a great way to create depth. Also makes the process really interesting because the painting constantly keeps changing and evolving.
Your tutorial is lovely. Thanks so much.
Thanks, and you’re welcome ☺️
I saw where one artist paints a bit watery, then flips the canvas over and slightly rubs it on concrete to get a grungy texture. It actually works. Her studio floor is concrete.
That’s a good idea! I haven’t tried that before. Thanks for sharing!
Interesting. I think I might try the paper transfer on wet watercolour paper. Might give it an interesting effect.
Oh yes, it works great on wet paper too! Do give it a try.
fantastic thank you for sharing I can't wait to try
You are welcome! Would love to hear how they work for you.
I enjoy your chanel very much.
Thank you so much, Alan!
Beautiful ❤
Thanks so much!
Informative, well done !
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful.
Thank you for sharing!!!!
You are so welcome!
Hi Jeanine, Love the channel.. Thank you for sharing with us. What kind of panels are you using? Sorry you may have mentioned before... Thanks
Thank you! The panels I'm using are 12x12" panels from Jacksons: www.jacksonsart.com/jackson-s-5mm-wooden-painting-panels-pack-of-5?___store=jacksonsart_en&acc=2d00f43f07911355d4151f13925ff292
Alternatively you could use plywood panels. I'd recommend 5mm or thicker.
I’m an artist and paint realistic art. I love abstract art and tried to paint abstract but I never like the way it comes out. I always feel like it looks like something a little kid did when I paint something. Any suggestions ?
Tricky! It's not necessarily a bad thing if it looks like a little kid did it😉
But I get your point!
To make an "aesthetically pleasing" abstract painting the most important thing to get right is the composition in my opinion. Take a look at your dark and light values. What shapes do they create? Do you have a good range of sizes in shapes? Is the composition balanced?
Hi Jeannine, thank you for the video. Can you tell me more about the substrate you use please? Are these MDF panels? 😊
You’re welcome! Yes, they are MDF with veneer on both sides. These are the ones I use: www.jacksonsart.com/jackson-s-5mm-wooden-painting-panels-pack-of-5?___store=jacksonsart_en&acc=2d00f43f07911355d4151f13925ff292
Plywood would be even better.
@@jclosestudio thanks Jeannine, I always enjoy your videos 👍🏼😀
@@FragilX Thanks so much! I'm so happy to hear that 😊
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Hi, thank you for sharing the technique ❤ can you share what is the jelly paper use for collage? I bought wedge after watching this video hoping to try to make mark marking more. Thank you 😊
You are welcome 😀
I use wet strength tissue paper for the gelli print pieces. This is the one I use: amzn.to/3qI6Al1
I love the wedge! Hope you'll enjoy using it too.
@@jclosestudio thank youuu for your reply❤❤❤
I like your expression and your brave decision to express your emotion to the canvas
Thank you! It feels very vulnerable, but usually pays off
h Jjeanie- new subscriber here...love you videos..thanks! can u tell me what surface u are working on and how would you frame this...great ideas!
Hi Deborah! Thanks so much for subscribing and welcome! I am working on wood panel. The ones I use are from Jackson's here in the UK: www.jacksonsart.com/jackson-s-5mm-wooden-painting-panels-pack-of-5?___store=jacksonsart_en&acc=2d00f43f07911355d4151f13925ff292
You can also use plywood cut to a size you like.
You can watch me frame them in my video on finishing a series ua-cam.com/video/Sail39oTPmw/v-deo.html from around 5:09 minutes.
Can I suggest brighter light, please!
Hello! My later videos are much brighter. Let me know if that's better.
If that's art, the bottom of my shoe 👟 is a masterpiece
Thank you! Would love to see the bottom of your shoe.
@@jclosestudioyou have true class and I LOVE your creativity and art.
@ElleBug197 Tanks so much ☺
I see a dog at 4:53 😂
Haha, I guess a little bit!
Yes! ❤
Where's the skill, the 'artistry' ? A dog had defaecated on the grass and someone took a picture and presented it as art. I thought it was crap.
Lol
Randomly blobbed, sorry
Randomly blobbing is so much fun
Downvoted because of the music.
Tutorials are enough on their own with the voiceover.
The music alienates a lot of people.
There are many who will be triggered by sensory overload from the visual, voice and music.
It's such a shame because it's an interesting video.
Interesting observation. Usually people say how calming my videos are and that they love the music. I’m sorry to hear it’s too stimulating for you, but I’m glad you still found it Interesting.
@@jclosestudio unfortunately i only managed a couple of minutes due to the music.
Thank you Jeanine. I appreciate you sharing the variety of techniques. I’m going down to the studio and have myself a play at trying them. I forget that I can pull out some wood panels to use. I think I will have to go get some more of those. Wishing you well.
Thank you Danielle! I’m so happy it’s inspired you to try some! I love wood panels, definitely try those too.
