Abstract Painting Demo - Part 1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- Hi everyone. Today I'm going to take you through the first part of my abstract painting process, starting with moving my thumbnail sketch to my canvas... or in this case cradle board
From there I work very quickly and loosely with various pencils, charcoal, and some color to get the base set. I was so excited to work on this piece that I even started adding more paint before it was dry (oops). But that will have to wait for my next video.
How do you move your thumbnail sketches to your canvas? Let me know in the comments and, as always, if you have any questions, topics you'd like me to discuss, or anything else, please reach out. Don't forget to like and subscribe and ring the bell to be notified whenever I post a new video.
Hugs,
Gwen
Gwen you are the mostest in art excitement….love all you share thank you dear friend.
Gwen, I only watched part of the segment on the abstract. I enjoyed it and can't wait to dive into my own.
Just found u on UA-cam and wat a beautiful energy. I’m so happy just by listening and learning and watching you be free, which is what I’m trying to learn to stop being uptight and just let go and have fun ❤thank you for this channel.
bonjour Gwen, merci for your passion and enthousiasme
I love,love your enthusiasm ❤
Looking forward to next video Gwen
I love your enthusiasm!
Thanks for sharing your process!
I love what you do..
How kind of you to say this....thank you.
Hi Gwen, I’m so happy to find you. I’m an absolute beginner with abstract oils. Some guidance on mediums to get layers to dry and not muddy colors on top would be so helpful. I know this is very entry level, but it’s the thing that I’m having the most issue with in my painting.
Hi Gwen, Fun to watch. Anxious to see the finish. I would like to know more about the painting on the floor with the face on it down to your right?
Fabulous Gwen!! Please show the whole painting start to finish!! ❤️💃🏼
Denise....I will when I finally get it finished....you will see the entire process.
So nice to see this video, just found you. Like aldo that you abstact work with oil.
Love this and all your videos!!
I’m struggling getting started but I appreciated your stash of shapes and collage papers so I am going to start just to create my own stash and see if I can come out the other side with some ideas.
Hafa Adai Gwen! Love your energy and enthusiasm, much love from Guam :)
Oh Gwen, I just love your infectious approach. You manage to combine making art feel loose and fun but still guiding us on structuring as we go. I love your thumbnail sketch start and then the loose abandoned marks. I can’t wait for the next part. Thank you so much for all of your videos here x
OMG Jacki....thank you for your comment...
Extremely grateful that you share your process with us..
...Excited to see what's next!
Stay tuned next week....glad you liked it!
Gwen I’m so happy to have discover your Channel !! I love to hear you about how you paint and your approach !! I’m also a visual painter !! Send you lots of Love from Paris ❣️👋🏻 and I’m looking forward to watch more of yours videos !!!
Sergio....thank you so much for your comment as I really enjoyed sharing the video and how I go from chaos to calm in the painting....at least that is coming. Again, thank you.
Your work is lovely and you are a great teacher.
Thank you so much!
Your enthusiasm is inspiring. I'm a maker/upholsterer/coach, etc. I was searching UA-cam for anything that would show me how to create abstract art. I'm going to paint the front of my shop here in Indianapolis and I want to do abstracts of the tools I use. Your vids were helpful. Love Taos, love Santa Fe. Goal is to move that direction.
Let me know if you have any questions....
Love your videos, Gwen. You are a fabulous teacher.
When you said you were paint with oil, is that oil and cold wax?
Thank you, Gwen ❤️🎨❤️
Awesome video Gwen. Thank you. Cant’s wait to see the next video! 😊
Gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Fernanda....thank you for your comment...
What did you use to seal the charcoals? You are fun to watch, very helpful? I have been trying to find a way to start a paintig without actually starting a painting. Thirty-five years ago when I first started painting I could afford to just start throwing paint on cavvass, but today with the insane costs of supplies I am trying to learn how to plan my work out a bit betterso to save money. I have three larger canvases 48, 57 and 60 by 96. I really dont want to gesso up my early attemps on them, so what you are showing here has been super helpful.
Nice start! Is video 2 ready? Also, can you substitute acrylics?
Hi Gwen. Thanks for your tutorials! They are awesome. Did you use here oil plus cold wax or just oil paint? Thanks!
I love your videos. Can't wait to see where the journey takes this one!
Shirley...you just made my day with your comment....thank you!!!!!
Your lines remind me of asemic writing. I enjoyed this Now following.
Hi Gwen,That’s such a great fun video.I am working hard to free up my art and I just know your videos are going to help me.I was an illustrator for my working life so after years of tight art I am loving freeing up.Looking forward to your next video.
Oh Wendy....I am so happy to hear these videos are helping you.
Love it
Love this Gwen!
Thanks Mary.....I really appreciate your comment....you are so kind.
I absolutely love your work and you are the best teacher ever!! Btw what kind of squeegee are you using?
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. The squeegee I am using is from the coldwaxacademy.com/squeegees/. It is a special squeegee that I love. I think they cost under 15 dollars. If you get one let me know how you like it.
Love it! Can’t wait for part 2!!!
Hi girl...so glad to see you....love your paintings as they are awesome!
Thank you!!!😅
You are so welcome Michele,....
Great video! Thank you.
You are welcome!
Please show the painting beginning to end, thanks⭐️
Enjoyed this demo. Just discovered you. Please share what fixative you used 😊
I usually use Krylon Matte Spray
@@GwenFoxArtist Thank you. Is it specifically a fixative or just called Matt spray?
HI Gwen,
I love your videos. Could you please tell what the name of the product was that you brushed on over the rough lines. It sounded like Scamsoil? but I realise this is not the precise name.
Gamsol
Could you list the various black mark makers you used ?
What should I use instead of the Gamsol if I am going to use acrylics instead of oils? Love you videos.
Anne....you just use water....thank you so much for loving my videos....I do them for YOU...
Use a blow dryer it helps dry quickly 👍🥰
What do you spray over the charcoal?
Great start. How wouldmyou do it differently for acrylic?
Gloria....actually no different as you would only use acrylic instead of oils....water instead of Gamsol. Give it a try and let me know how it goes. Thank you so much for your comment.
@gwenfox Do you use oil sticks (r/f/shiva/oil pastel)
or oil in tube and place it on your board then use the squeegee? What do you use to spread your paint gasoline or walnut oil and is it on the side where you can dip your brush or run your squeegee through it.
LB....I just use oil paint when I use the squeegee....I don't add any medium.
I love to draw. But cannot understand abstract. What's going on with all those scratches?
Those scratches are just creativity in motion...not to worry about understanding abstraction....just enjoy it and feel its glory.
Did you use turpentine?
For my oils I only use Gamsol....Turpentine is just too toxic.
I think you should get your dog to do the painting.
Wtf?
Türkçe altyazı rica ediyoruz.
Здрасьте,забор покрасьте......
