In my College Creative class, my prof wouldn't let us rhyme for our poetry unit. She said it was a crutch that some people use and that it could also lead to problems with writing. She said we would get our rhyming license at the end of the unit after learning how and why to use rhyme

I loved teachers like that. I always thought, "Oh, a challenge? Watch me crush it..." Sometimes I did, sometimes I didn't, but I always learned something valuable in lessons like that. I was never competitive with other people, I liked sharing and celebrating other people's work, but if you put restrictions on how I have to make something? Bring it.

I think that aside of gender roles in general this book is meant to be primarily anti trans? It says that boys and girls are intrinsically different, but then when it says that well actually girls can like boy stuff and boys can like girl stuff it seems more like it's implying that no matter how you feel and what you like you're still the gender you were assigned at birth? That's just my theory. Regardless, a kid almost definitely wouldn't get that message because they don't have the knowledge of the anti trans talking points and dog whistles lol, to them as you've said it will just be confusing.

The hair gender role thing really bothers me. Both myself and my partner have long hair, and have had long hair for all of our relationship (so, since we were 13; we will be 31 in April. Mine was always long but he wasn't allowed to grow his until secondary school) and when we were teens people would honestly say to him to 'get a haircut' because it's 'unnatural'?! Excuse me?! Long hair is 'unnatural' for...well...anyone?! I got it a couple of times too because no one had hair past waist length where I was in the 2000s, which was also bizarre because surely me not cutting my hair was very natural, but at least wasn't gender based.
Also...we are very much the same, always have been, it's why we get on so well. Gender is neither here nor there. He's just a lot bigger than me. That's not hard tho, I'm only 155cm (and he's only 170cm, but he's still more than 2 of me which was something we also got shit for as teens even tho he was relatively slim back then...so stupid. I feel like Crowder set down to write a book about gender differences and then realized that other than the obvious physical differences (I'm going to pretend like trans people don't exist for a second because Crowder probably doesn't think they do), boys and girls can have a wide variety of personalities. Like cis guys can have some stereotypically feminine interests, and cis girls can have stereotypically masculine interests, and even Crowder realizes that it will come across as incredibly sexist and go against even many children's lived realities to insist otherwise. But he refuses to budge on his ideology, so he sticks with his initial conclusion even though he seems to subconsciously realize that it's reductive and overly-generalized and doesn't actually match reality, so the end result is that he just keeps saying the conclusion without even fictional anecdotal evidence supporting his position (and in fact contradicting it), because Crowder realizes on some level that he is wrong (or at least has an overly simplified worldview), but just can't admit it to himself.

I'm a conservative who sometimes watches Steven Crowder. I only saw him advertise this book once. He must know how bad it is too, I guess. He says he was inspired by his boy/girl twins who are so different even though they're the same age and a year old. He's discovered personality! Maybe if he knew more kids he could explain their differences better?
But now hearing that he was foing through a divorce while writing this book, the fact that he stereotypes women as "talking too much" seems even more negative and bitter. Nothing about girls being more caring or nurturing. Just talking a lot.
Anyway, thank you for sharing the book - from a conservative perspective it offers nothing and isnt even fun to read.

I don't think the swing is supposed to represent masculine or feminine but rather that is what you are trying to project onto it. I think the message is that while we are both human and can be seem equally as humans we physically or mentally can be different and it is okay. Because we like both just the same people would like riding on either one

That it is okay for them to like those things. I will say as a child I was curious about a lot of things but at the same time specific things captivated my mind more than others. Despite growing up with my sister and also seeing her toys my twins were a lot more interesting to me. So at the end of the day rather than parents trying to force an idea onto their children just let them decide for themselves what interests them without trying to classify or claim they belong in a certain group

So I'm going to start by saying if you are doing a book review you don't go into it with a bias. You can't know whether the book is good or bad until you actually have read it. The people can't know whether the book is good or bad until you have read it to them. And compared to some of the other children's books that are out there depicting pornography. I can already tell you that having more books that are normal and not trying to sexually promote children is already off to a good start. So when you feed your Channel your negativity about the book before they've even had a chance to experience it isn't being fair to your channel but instead manipulating them. And this comes from the people who claim to be open-minded. Whatever happened to the days where people respected each other. You don't have to like their political views but you can still respect them enough to remain open-minded about what they create. It is kind of the same way with a lot of musicians out there, as soon as people found out about their political views started pissing on their music when prior to it they loved it. So while you are free to express your opinion you cannot say you are giving an unbiased book review.
