Couple things: your suede wearing has nothing to do with the steering wheel being fake. Suede is tough to take care of regardless. The carbon fiber is still real, which is the main selling point of the upgrade. They're all made by the same company prior to 3rd party sellers buying them and reselling them with specific builds. Also, the LED's does change when the car shifts. I've also never heard of anyone I know with these steering wheels having battery issues. You should probably look into a new battery. The LED on the steering wheel isn't that powerful from my experience to drain your battary. Also, your new one is based on the older model. I found out that when ordering mines, the newer models are thicker.
the LED draining the battery is a great note. i haven't heard of that issue or the lack of shift animation.
