- I had never seen the Antonov AN 225 (worlds largest aircraft) before - now i was able to see a pushback from very close up standing under the wing with 6 massive engines! As a little surprise visitor it came to the ILA Air Show 2018 in Berlin Schönefeld - and you were not only able to get very close to the aircraft - you could literally touch it and walk inside (before the pushback i was able to go into the cockpit)! an 225 has 6 engines so 6 * 51500 = 309000 LBF thrust. and the a380 has 4 engines 4 * 80210 = 312000 lbf. so basicly the a380 is stronger

this was an airlifter back then
it was used to launch the Buran space shuttle in air
its kind of a powerful and bigger version of the Antonov AN124
USSR government planned to build another one but it didn't got finished so only one got built
then Antonov Airlines revived the aircraft and it's still used until today
Antonov planned to finish building the second AN225

Nunca tinha visto um avião tão lindo, tão grande, quando vi, assistindo ao programa "Aeroporto Área Restrita", me apaixonei, e vi a grandeza de Deus, q deu sabedoria ao homem pra construir essa majestosa obra de arte!! Mas fiquei imensamente triste em saber q ele não existe mais!! Realmente não sei o q falar sobre isso q aconteceu!! Muito triste!!😔😔😔😔😔😔

And imagine that all this had to be designed, financed. And maybe it was only in the USSR, and not in Ukraine (this country can only exploit and sell something). The aircraft was designed and built in the USSR at the Kiev Mechanical Plant (project manager - V.I. Tolmachev) in 1984−88. The first flight was made on December 21, 1988. Initially, two cars were laid, at present only one copy is in flight condition and is operated by the Ukrainian company Antonov Airlines, the second copy was never completed.
