What makes her so hard is that she can poise through almost anything. She is about as tall as malenia but malenia staggers even from hitting her with Light weapons like katanas but rellana... You can smack her in the face with a ultra greatsword and she will act like you tickled her feet. Thats why i choose too parry her, the feeling of banging your head against the wall for 2 hours straight. But damn did it feel good to finally kill her. But i kinda wish i knew that she was weak to poison

Defeated Rellana earlier today, Malenia is just a cakewalk now since I've been fighting her so many times before the dlc released This boss was something else, I'm terrified of what's to come next

I'm soo confused this was my first boss un the dlc I was pretty sure I was in the wrong location but after a good 45 mins I had to summon mimic and I got the imo my favourite weapon.
Sorry but no, she's not harder than Malenia. Very easy to dodge, can't randomly parry hits, doesn't have hyper poise on some animations (which is why you get hit by Malenia despite her easy stagger, she can ignore poise damage on certain of her animations), doesn't heal, doesn't have a "haha now I one-shot you because you didn't react in a fraction of a second" attack. Phase 2 is hard, but every time I died it was because I was greeding for a hit or too stubborn to count her combo, not because she's super hard. I'll put it like this: with the balancing aggro feature you could fight 2 Rellana at the same time, you could not do the same with Malenia. And you can Carian Retaliation her projectiles, feel free to try to parry the butterfly clones or Waterfowl Dance...
Beat mage fight in all the games. She is elegant, powerful, and hits like Mike Tyson! Edit: After beating her, my Int playthrough got 10 times more fun!
The dlc bosses just look like a fan fic. Like look at the goofy ahh radahn fight. Don't get me wrong I'd love to see prime radahn but it is lacking the "Fromsoft polish"

I think this boss is harder, has a more wide range of attacks. You have to be near flawless during the 2nd half of the fight as any missed time dodge will likely kill you. Imagine if she had an actual phase 2 like Malenia!
Add life steal to her and she's harder. Rellana is a lot more aggressive and her moveset is way more chaotic than Malenia. The only thing that gives Malenia the edge is her life steal bullshit.
This fight was TOUGH, but the more I think about it retrospectively, the more I love it. The pressure of this fight, the adrenaline, it’s all so addicting.
@h4xe7reac75 I would agree if her moveset complimented it. You end up having to bait out certain moves in order to heal or use items, but she can combo into other moves that punish you anyway. It feels a little too chance-based for me.

Making sure you’re in position to advantage of those openings is the real challenge because they have such a tight window. I don’t see it as random. The only thing that might appear random is in the middle of her combo where she can choose two different ways to end it. However, that can be controlled by the players range to her.

Remember Rennala? The boss that can easily be defeated by spamming any type of attack in her face, staggering her and preventing her from casting her abillities. Now its payback time with Rellana, and oh boy she doesn't give you a moment to breathe.
not harder than malenia but she's the exact same type of brickwall-boss that margit is. what makes her so hard is that you can't really memorize her patterns well because her combos are not only extremely long, similar and quick... no, they also can vary midway through. so it's already enough to miscalculate once, just to find yourself dead because you got trapped within the hits of the remaining combo. one hell of a bos though. well presented, cinematic moves and the developers even thought of triggering our ptsd that we all got from pontiff sulyvahn as soon as she activates her elemental swords.
Just finished her today, my throat is in a bad condition after this fight. I was so upset by how aggressive she was I had to use scarlet rot and the black flames blade incantation to shred that huge amount of HP to take less risk. By the way her swords are very cool.

I dunno, I killed her on my second try. Admittedly I am using the same OP stuff that trivializes the main game: mimic tear, bull goat, and blasphemous blade. I just let the mimic keep aggro and flamed her down. Melania is much harder, for me anyway. Edit: at NG+7 and blessing 5. I'm definitely regretting starting the dlc at NG+7; lots of stuff 2 shots me.
Don't really know why everyone seems to struggle with her. Beat her first try with Blasphemous Blade and my Mimic Tear Ash. Made her about 3500 Damage per hit. She get's hard if you help in Coop though.

I think this fight is harder than melania because you have to respect the boss at all times. Against malenia when you hit her, she staggers. This boss doesn’t. She deals a sizable chunk of dmg, with short punish windows, plus she has many moves with varying wind ups that just 1-shot you. Overall very hard, but a very fun fight. Easily hard that Pontif and I’d say Malenia too. Wp
Dude, hard disagree. The thing about malenia is that at least you could mini stagger her on every attack, except for few moves with hyperarmor. This fucking boss moves even faster and has input reading so every hit you do is a trade with her. Also because of input reading there is hardly time to heal cause she will automatically do her ranged attack. People keep saying she feels like a dance, yeah maybe if she was a proffesional ice skater and you were a 500 kg discord mod with autism. That’s how this boss feels. I havent fought Malenia in a long time....but she was way worse for me than Rellana so i cant really agree that Rellana is harder, 3 tries against countless...
Took me 15 tries to beat Malenia and only 4 for Rellana.. what makes Malenia harder she's heals during the fight and Rellana doesn't..I think Rellana fight is much cooler though fire and magic combo..
@@rainman11 most bosses from the dlc have a phase 2 just no cut scene. they just transform to second form.. the boss who matches Malenia is Bayle or harder depending on your point of view..that boss will challenge most experienced Elden ring players..
@@john.s7559 the difference is though Malenia has a new life bar whereas Rellana uses the same life bar but just adds new moves to her arsenal. If you’re able to do big damage early, your “phase 2” becomes a lot easier for Rellana than having an actual phase 2 where things reset.

I defeated her like 40 minutes ago or something. Took me 40+ tries 😢 easily the 2nd hardest or arguably the hardest soulsborne boss I’ve fought.

I havent fought Malenia in a long time....but she was way worse for me than Rellana so i cant really agree that Rellana is harder, 3 tries against countless...
It’s funny because even when she was nuking me with her attacks it was just such a spectacle. Couldn’t even get mad lmao

this boss in ng+7 is impossible. i'd attempt to do what you're doing here, but taking any kind of damage from her is instant death.

It took 1 hour and half to me, I loved this fight, specially using the milady
I got him on the 3rd try, just double colossal hammer and bonk him to death
Took me 15 tries to beat Malenia and only 4 for Rellana.. what makes Malenia harder she's heals during the fight and Rellana doesn't..I think Rellana fight is much cooler though fire and magic combo..
Rellana would be harder if she had a phase 2 like Malenia
@@rainman11 most bosses from the dlc have a phase 2 just no cut scene. they just transform to second form.. the boss who matches Malenia is Bayle or harder depending on your point of view..that boss will challenge most experienced Elden ring players..
@@john.s7559 the difference is though Malenia has a new life bar whereas Rellana uses the same life bar but just adds new moves to her arsenal. If you’re able to do big damage early, your “phase 2” becomes a lot easier for Rellana than having an actual phase 2 where things reset.
