''He would like to be remembered...........'' How could we ever forget him, a genius of wit and wisdom, thank you Ronnie for the laughs of our lifetime.
“Pure gold, in triplicate”. Thank you, Ronnie C, for that tribute. Ronnie Barker, simply the most versatile comic actor of my lifetime. A sobering thought: I’m 76.
I think that generation of comedians will always be my favourite with the likes of Ronnie Barker, Ronnie Corbett, David Jason, John Cleese etc. I think the only comedian I genuinely like today is Peter Kay who has cited the aforementioned Ronnie Barker and friends as a source of inspiration. No pretentiousness or controversy for the sake of being shocking, just good old fashion humour in a funny kind of British way. Sadly that generation is dying away with only a few still alive, let alone still performing. Sadly I'm too young to remember seeing the older stuff first hand but with the likes of UA-cam I can still enjoy it.
R.I.P Sir Ronnie Barker, you're in a better place, have been for quite some time now, you'll be missed greatly, I was heartbroken when you passed away, one of the best comedians in the world, farewell Mr Barker.
He got his wish. He was the funniest man ever seen on TV or anywhere else for that matter. Where ever he is I imagine they are laughing their socks off right now.
Farewell to great comedians.Because of them we know what real humour is like. The humour on television now is trash. Actually, most of our television is trash, the good days are gone.Rest in peace, you wonderful guys, you will always have our grateful thanks for your being with us for a time.
Today, (25 September), I watched ‘The Best of Ronnie Barker’ on what would have been Ronnie’s 91st birthday. I’ve enjoyed Ronnie’s talent for 5 years. Thank you, Ronnie for five (and more to add I’m sure) years of making me laugh. I’m 19.
there will not ever be any one better than ronnie b at making people laugh plus ronnie c god bless them both. look after them both god please. many thanks
The Two Ronnies only ended their BBC One show due to Ronnie Barker's desire to retire by 1988. Unlike many other comedy shows which ended by being cancelled/axed - The Two Ronnies ended on their own terms - and that says something!
Remembering the #comedian and #actor #RonnieBarker. The well-known #entertainer has died at the age of 76. (15 yrs ago) (25 Sep 1929-03 Oct 2005) from #porridge #thetworonnies and #openallhours tributes are paid to them. #RIPRonnie
This is what you call talent, and the ones on TV today need to note that you required skills to be on Television. He was one of the funniest men I had the pleasure to be entertained by him. RIP SIR
7:12 - one of the greatest ever British comedians has died. BBC: Who can we get on to talk about Ronnie Barker? Ronnie Corbett? John Cleese? David Jason? Ahhh fuck it, Tarby's been on hold since 11am, he'll do. Lazy, lazy journalism.
+bowler8 He was not "educated AT Oxford" (which makes it sound like he attended the University of Oxford), he was educated IN Oxford, i.e. at a high school there, since Oxford (Cowley to be precise) was his home town. He left school early and did not go to university.
2 absolutely brilliant men gone good night boy's and at 3.39 1 of the most vile human beings to get away with what he did rot in hell savil shouldn't be on screen with these 2 genius men
.....With characters like Arkwright, Fletcher and his one manned sketches from The Two Ronnies,..... Very funny!! ...And to add the genius of (under a syodenum) writing various material based purely on merit and not celebrity status.... Makes Ronnie Barker a true comedy genius!!
His like can never be seen again because of the politically correct brigade. The basis of much of British humour is sarcasm, not in a nasty vindictive way,but being able to laugh at ourselves and the different foibles we all show from day to day. Unfortunately,we're not allowed to do that nowadays. Watch Porridge,Open All Hours and most of The Two Ronnies sketches, and all the characters are flawed, normal people who know their shortcomings, and can still go through life accepting them. The nanny state doesn't let that side of life to be shown anymore, and the garbage seen on TV which is classed as funny, has to be telegraphed before the punchline appears and you get a stupid canned laughter track dubbed on. This of course,is the point when you're supposed to split your sides! Thank God most of the British classic comedy can still be viewed on re-runs. R.I.P messrs. Barker,Corbett,Sykes,Sellers et al
paul munt I think it was the late Arthur Askey that made the point in every generation theres good and bad performers. I love some modern comedy. Theres also some I'd run a mile from. I love some comedy from the generation of the two ronnies, theres also some I would run a mile from. Why should I have to choose. May both Ronnie's rest in peace. They did make me laugh.
Godper - what does he mean 'practising homosexual' Fletcher - one who hasn't got it quite right yet. Brilliant and in no way offencive (except to the woke left wing offended by everything mob)

Ronnie Corbett was getting one - but he died the week before he could.
The Two Ronnies only ended their BBC One show due to Ronnie Barker's desire to retire by 1988. Unlike many other comedy shows which ended by being cancelled/axed - The Two Ronnies ended on their own terms - and that says something!

The BBC didn't give him up until he'd died. For shame.
This is what you call talent, and the ones on TV today need to note that you required skills to be on Television. He was one of the funniest men I had the pleasure to be entertained by him. RIP SIR

Ronnie Barker was educated at Oxford, and worked in a Bank before he became an actor
+bowler8 He was not "educated AT Oxford" (which makes it sound like he attended the University of Oxford), he was educated IN Oxford, i.e. at a high school there, since Oxford (Cowley to be precise) was his home town. He left school early and did not go to university.
