Many times I hear that using a lead conical will not work great in modern ML (1:28 twist) but I have seen several videos where the maxi-hunter and Great Plains seem to perform well in a faster twist rate. What are your thoughts? I currently shoot Powerbelt and they work great but if I can reduce the expense and get more rounds for very similar performance, I call that a win. I know your standard response will be - you need to see how your particular ML ( TC Encore) will do, just asking for your experience and knowledge, generally speaking. Think lead balls are a little more complicated than just its a lead ball. Every same caliber muzzleloader barrel is a different size compared to the next manufacture, different depth of rifling. Because of that, you have to match the right size round ball, being that there are multiple sizes for the same caliber with the right thickness of patch for said caliber to engage the rifling. To do that means a lot of target shooting, cleaning barrels between shots and finding spent patches to make sure there's no blow-by but not having a fit so tight that you can't get another ball down the barrel after one shot. In-line exists I think because traditional is complicated.
Out of curiosity, can you shoot copper jacketed rounds out of an old muzzleloader with a 1:48 twist? I want to give it a try but im not sure if it will cause any damage or not. I usually stick to lead round or mini ball.
That may depend on the condition and model that you are using. I would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer to see if they have any information for your specific muzzleloader.
Many states require specific hunting projectiles and caliber for larger game. Make sure you are shooting within your capabilities with an ethical, lawful, and humane load…
This is probably a dumb question but it has been at least 30 years since I shot any if my 3 cap lock rifles. Is it out of the question to shoot BH-209 with #11 primers? I think I already know the answer but alot has changed down thru the years. Thanks
That is something that could probably be tested but it would be a very involved process. In the meantime, I would recommend contacting the bullet manufacturer on that one.

Any info on loading a sabot bullet after 1 or 2 shots it gets very hard to push the bullet down the barrel

What about minimum velocity to reliably expand the bullets? Is that something we can test or is that a question for the bullet manufacture?
That is something that could probably be tested but it would be a very involved process. In the meantime, I would recommend contacting the bullet manufacturer on that one.
