50 million kids pick up a stick and pretend it’s a gun. Only River Tam picks up a gun and pretends it’s a stick.
If viewed as River's story Objects in Space works as a finale. It's the story of acceptance. From being smuggled aboard in the pilot to finally requesting permission to come aboard from the captain in the final episode gives a bookend to the series. At least that's the way I look at it.
Also, the shot of River's feet and the stick with River's face dropping into frame is my favorite shot in the series.
That really is an awesome scene
that's actually how I chose to see it too
I do like this as the culmination of the series for the most part. It is when River finally becomes a full part of the crew, showing that she is valuable and innovative. Obviously it would have been better for them to finish it out properly, but for an ending that comes suddenly this is surprisingly good at closure for me.
It had the feel of "just another episode" because that's really what it was. The show was cancelled mid-season and they had no chance to put together even a "season ending" episode, let alone something to wrap up all the loose story line threads. In their original plan, this would have been a mid season episode, possibly setting up something they had planned for later (I've heard that Early was intended to be a recurring character (like YoSafBridge) and somehow survived). That's one of the things that's so frustrating about the show is that we get to see enough to get hooked on the story and empathize with the characters and then the plug is unceremonially pulled, leaving us with a big hole to fill. The movie does help give some sense of resolution, but having 4 or 5 years of time to explore all the things that were set up in these 14 episodes would have been far better.
Even the "Well....here I am" was a poignant way to end the series. It perfectly sums up where Fox and the execs left the series.
Yeah. This was the 2000s, when seasons would last half a year of weekly episodes and not the 6 episode sprints they are nowadays.
@@crapstirrer I think they were planning for a 24 episode season.
Jubal Early is such a terrific villain because he so obviously was a complete psychopath. The calm, cool way he delivers his treats is terrifying.
His scene with Kaylee is possibly the most chilling in the entire series. Jewel Staite plays it brilliantly.
It's important to note that, at the end of the episode, Kaylee isn't scared of River anymore (which she has been since the incident in "War Stories").
Mal after being kissed: "I'm only waiting to see if I pass out. Long story."
It was probably my third or fourth time through the series before that sequence clicked. Sometimes I'm slow catching these things.
I think one of the problems that Firefly had was just as you described, in that It took you a few episodes before you really started to enjoy it. Couple that with Fox not showing the episodes consistently, or even in the correct order & you have a show that could’ve really been special, if only FOX had believed in it & promoted it, which they obviously did not.
I didn't see the show until it was on DVD many years after it had been cancelled. But I was hooked when Mal shot the fed and he and Jayne tossed his ass out of the ship in the pilot.
i was hooked during the first episode
“This is just a moment in time; step aside, and let it happen” is a quote that sticks with me to this day.
The best part of this episode is that everyone who reacts to it completely buys into the fact River became the ship. That says something for her performance as a crazy person.
I don't think Inara gets a "pass", just because it's her job.
If you don't want someone sleeping around, then you don't sleep around on then. Applies to men AND women.
It's a hazard of her job.
Came to write the same thing. You don't get to call Mal a cheater by proxy, if you won't say the same of Inara.
Of course, neither of them are doing anything wrong, since they refuse to tell each other of their feelings.
So it's time for Serenity, sequel movie.
There is the movie Serenity which gives the series a worthy finish.
R Tam Sessions as prelude.
Watching this reminded me, and I've updated both the Wikipedia and Firefly Wiki on this, of Brook's role as the similarly named Judah Earl in The Crow: City of Angels, a film that Whedon defended after its release from the criticism's it endured. Must have left an impression!
"that ain't no Shepherd." -Jubal Early
"--which means closed file, which means an Operative, which is trouble you've not known."-Shephard Book
If you ever have the chance to listen to the DVD commentary from this episode, I would recommend it. The creator of the show (and writer director of this episode) Joss Whedon, goes into the meanings of the symbols in this episode. It's very complex and includes his interest in the existentialist philosophy of Jean Paul Sartre and especially his novel, "Nausea".
I'm sad to hear you had to get emergency surgery. I know this is an old post, but I thought it was important for me to tell you that I appreciate your channel so much. Your personality, brains and sense of humor brighten my days. I have really loved watching this series with you. This is probably my favorite TV show (if I had to pick one). Best wishes for your ongoing and future health.
It's sad that it's done, but the good news is that now you can watch it for the second time, for the first time! Then you still have your first 3rd time, first 4th, 5th, etc. 😊😊😊
Objects in Space is possibly my favourite episode of the series.
Lots of emotional moments & happens when they are pent up. Wowie. . .
Morena Baccarin is one of the most beautiful actors in the world, just look at her in Deadpool almost 20 years after Firefly , breathtaking!
Duaffy, you now know why there are so many people who honestly love this show who are honestly disappointed that it got canceled. I don't know if you remember but even Sheldon in the Big Bang Theory mentioned how annoyed he was that this show was canceled. Actually they referenced this show several times in The Big Bang Theory. This show is a good show that deserved to continue on and Fox really messed up with the way they treated this show
There are the River Tam sessions!
You should watch those *before* the movie! 😁
River reminds me a bit of Elon Musk: highly talented and maybe we cannot understand them.
@@3crowns21
Nah.
River is still innocent, after all.
The hint about the twig being a gun, is in the title: Objects In Space. It is an examination of the idea that objects, in themselves, have no inherent significance. The only significance they have is that which we, as conscious minds, assign to them, as individuals, and as groups and societies. i guess it's meant to imply that both River, and Jubal Early do not attach the same significance to objects (such as a gun, or someone's room) as the rest of 'normal/sane' society. To them, an object is just an object, with no symbolic meaning attached to it.
Great reactions to the Firefly final episodes, Duaffy!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽I'm looking forward to your reactions from "Serenity". This is easily one of my favorite series of all time. You can tell they had no idea of the cancellation at the time of shooting. They didn't even air three episodes of the series.
It's not a finale. It's just last aired episode.
@@rafapopawski2559 That was a misspelling, it was supposed to be "final". If all you do is critique people for a misspelled word, you need a hobby.
@@mikebrown7799 What a triggered snowflake you are. Maybe you own a crystal ball or can read people's minds - I can not. You wrote "Finale" which is not a typo, it's a different word with a different meaning, which I pointed out. And you are crying over that? Really? If it was unimportant, to a point I should get a hobby because I have noticed it, why you edited and corrected it?
I had noticed the nose scar a while back, but didn't want to bring it up. Thanks for explaining that.
English speakers commonly call men who think women are inferior as "chauvinists". Chauvinism is the unreasonable belief in the superiority or dominance of one's own group or people, who are seen as strong and virtuous, while others are considered weak, unworthy, or inferior. The specific type is "Male Chauvinism".
Jubal locked the crew quarters, which is Mal, Zoe and Wash, and Jayne; Kaylee was in the engine room. Shepherd Book, Simon, and River are in the passenger compartments, which are separate from the crew quarters.
It sure was easy to get into the ship. But then, there are very few neighbors in space.
Heart of Gold is a real heartbreaker, but Objects in Space-as a one hour science-fiction television episode- ranks right up there with the best of the full length science-fiction feature films.
Best series for me, feel the same as you, like something is missing, im glad we got the movie at least, i hate when they cancelled good shows 🥺.
Thank you for reacting to my favorite show ^-^ .
Currently, Disney owns the rights to Firefly. There has been rumors of a reboot, but, take that with a grain of salt. However, if they do with Firefly what they did with a series like Mandalorian, or with the MCU, and have people that really get the material write and direct it, it might actually be worth watching.
Disney announces: "The Adventures of Captain Malvina Reynolds!" With Pilot Samantha Wash and husband Percy Dovetonsils, take a wild trip on the "Frappe Fly" space freighter pursued by the White Patriarchy Imperial Stormtroopers out of Civilized space. With Gay engineer "Rainbow McSlade," and Musclehead "Martina Kalshnikova," see them "do Crime ethically." Brought to you by our Dumpster Fire division, maker of box office/streaming bombs since The Message came to town.;) (Did I miss anything?)
@@Otokichi786 spot on.
there are a lot of comic book Firefly stories available.
Awe get well soon 🙏❤️🙏 I hope you feel better
When River was seeing the crew's thoughts, she approached Zoe and Wash while they were 'coupling'. A visual cue since the beginning was the camera blurring during a moment of ecstasy. It blurred for River as she was a voyeur of the married couple's intimacy.
At the end, River and Kaylee are playing jacks. River is learning about Kaylee's 'first time'. As she is preparing to do her turn, River looks at the bouncing ball and Joss had another display of Objectivism, as the bouncing ball had been used by the VFX team for the only planetary body seen in exterior shots of the episode.
Glad that you are feeling better and hope you feel better 😔🙏
I know that the Mal/Inara relationship was complicated, so I don’t meant this in a bad way, but she made it clear time and time again that their relationship was strictly professional. Despite teh fact that we as viewers know it’s not purely professional for her, if you were Mal, you would have believed it was. So even if he did have feelings for her, what was reinforced to him over and over was that there was no reciprocation. So I don’t blame Mal at all for doing what he did with her friend. Not to mention that Inara regularly sleeps with other people as well.
I only explain all this to say, I don’t think it’s fair to judge him harshly for what he did.
There's another reason Inara didn't start a relationship with Mal besides her occupation. They didn't get to it in the show and ignored it in the movie since they were wrapping up the main story lines.
Every character had a secret that Joss was going to unfold as the seasons went on. Hers was why she went on Serenity instead of staying and taking over her Companion House when it came time, as well as why she didn't want an attachment to Mal. Only one (maybe 2) hints during the shows.
Shepherd was hinted at, River's they were doing.
Notice that the very moment River left Jubal's ship empty, it turned tail and started moving in the direction where Jubal had disappeared.
It's safe to assume that he managed to get back into the ship and he's still alive, somewhere.
That's not a safe assumption at all. Who says River just didn't send it into the nearest star on her own when she left?
@@agent_hex
Anyone who isn't crazy. 😅
The most logical assumption is always the safest.
And given the info we have, mine is.
He was *OH, SO OBVIOUSLY* meant to be a recurring character, and that scene was put there *FOR THE EXACT PURPOSE* to justify his return later on.
Also, the ship clearly went after him.
And it did so as soon as it wasn't under River's control.
In other words, I have many reasons to assume that he was saved and you have zero reasons to assume that "rIvEr SeNt It To ThE nEaReSt StAr" 🤪... which just happens to be in the direction of Early. 🤣
@@happyslapsgiving5421 You are straying away from logic quite a bit for couching your argument in it. The fact is, you can't make an assumption either way - you are just seeing things how you want to. Why wasn't Mal surprised by the ship flying away if it wasn't on purpose? Why did he then continue to assure Inara that the bounty hunter was dead, if he saw his ship auto pilot away to go find him? The logical explanation is that Mal and River knew it would happen. The ending scene could be an indication that he lives, but I think its much more obviously another off beat joke that both the show Firefly, and the character Jubal is now famous for. Let's not forget the only time they've had a classic villain twisting moustache moment was with the Hands of Blue, the major villain of the series at the time. Back then TV shows were only starting to be serialized. Firefly was definitely ahead of its time for that sort of thing, but being so sure of yourself that this was a plan and the audience was supposed to think that way is just...not right. Duaffy thinks he's dead just like everyone else.
Ready for you to watch serenity now :) fantastic finish to a fantastic series
I love this series and I've loved your reactions to it. Thank you.
Objects in Space - The bounty hunter's ship probably had stealth capabilities so that he could sneak up on ships without being detected. BTW, this wasn't even intended to be the last episode of this batch. Originally, The Message was the last episode, but Joss Whedon felt that it didn't make a strong ending to the show, so he changed the order for the DVDs.
changing the episode order actually created a minor continuity issue. in _the message_ jayne calls river a "mind-reading genius", but in _objects in space_ jayne is surprised at the idea that river might be psychic.
Thanks Duaffy!
Joss Whedon was expecting a 5 season run with 22- 24 episodes per season to tell his Firefly story. When that went bust, he got a second chance with the movie "Serenity". He hoped for a movie trilogy to retell his story. When that trilogy went bust, the story continues with Comic Books & Novels. Many unanswered questions are answered here. There is also a firefly Role Playing Game with some lore as well.
There are many important points to go over with each episode here.
*Episode 13 "Heart of Gold"*
It's important to know that Inara has been the one purposefully keeping romance away. This was the episode that Mal finally got that message romance with Inara is never going to happen. So he moved on from those thoughts when he found Nandi was "his kind of stupid.".
Nandi's companion training was giving her some insight to this complicated relationship between Mal & Inara, but she couldn't figure out why. She brings up a very important question. Inara was working hard to become the next Guild High Priestess. What made Inara abandon this goal simply to travel around in a Firefly that avoids the core of civilization?
At the end, Inara finally has to admit to herself that she cannot stop the romantic feelings between herself and Mal, so she decides to leave. Again comes the question - Why? What has been stopping Inara from exploring romance?
*Episode 14 "Objects in Space"*
In the beginning of the episode, one of the voices in River's head was Jubal.
Jubal is a sadist that enjoys causing fear as well as pain. He points a gun at you & lets you know he is mentally unstable to add to your fear. River turned the tables on Jubal by pulling the same trick. She let Jubal know she was mentally unstable and was playing with his ship guns trained on him. That was the moment when Jubal felt fear.
Jubal Early was intended to be another re-occurring series antagonist. His presumed survival: His spacesuit had remote ship controls, but it took time for him to override some programming sabotage from River.
Netflix or another streamer would have certainly bought it from Fox (who would have been stupid to sell it).
Duaffy, you nailed why it took 4-5 episodes before you (and everyone else) really got hooked by this show: it's because while the plots were fun, the greatness of the show was the characters.
We just loved hanging out with these characters. And when you have characters you truly love spending time with, you can have an episode or three that's not all that exciting, but if you get to spend time with these people you care about, it doesn't matter.
All of my top favorite shows of all time have just been at their heart a group of wonderful characters who I missed so much when the show was finally over: Firefly, Six Feet Under, The Wire, Lost, Friends, Breaking Bad, Stranger Things, Game of Thrones, and (my personal favorite) Battlestar Galactica... people think what they want in a show is exciting sci-fi like time travel or zombies or magic or whatever, but what we all really want is to see characters we've come to want to spend time with grow in some satisfying way.
If anyone has any other shows where they just really love the characters in them let me know, need a few new shows these days.
It wouldn't be hard to think that if we have self driving cars now, that 500 years in the future, a person couldn't have a "come to me" program on his ship, that's tied into the space suit he was wearing. A small tracking beacon.
And auto pilots for all craft.
I completely agree, Firefly felt like a show we'd be watching season after season until we grow old. In fact there's a painfully accurate joke in an episode of Big Bang Theory (a wonderful comedy if you're into watching those) about Firefly.
I always interpreted the branch as River's mind creating a needed morsel of the natural world inside the cold artificiality of Serenity.
Back in December of 2002, I did not realize it was at an end, After "Objects in Space" the next episode was the "Serenity" episode that most feel should have been the first one. Then FOX was in the Holiday season, airing M*A*S*H 30th Anniversary and Fox Movie Special The Nutty Professor (1996). Then it hit that it was done when "Fastlane" came on a week later. I still had another favorite "John Doe" still playing in the slot it had, following Firefly. But alas that too was canceled. Odd thing is I didn't think I'd like "Firefly" at first since it had replaced ANOTHER show I liked a lot "Dark Angel" CURSE YOU FOX and your inevitable betrayal!
Duaffy, you have to look at both sides. Mal's not the only one having sex with another person. And as we've learned he has no idea of her feelings toward him.
Whedon and the other creators have said this last episode dealt with themes of existentialism: All things are ultimately objects first, with their meanings being imparted to them after by people. The opening shot starts out as a planet/moon being just a sphere in space; River comments “it’s just an object; it’s not what you think”; and the end shot, of the jacks and ball also being a sphere, was intended to bookend the opening one.
Ahhhhh, Jubal Early. A breath of insane fresh air :-)
You forgot to mention how we can tell the reactions were filmed months ago, and that is you're wearing a sweater. At the time of the release most of Europe, including Spain is baking under intense hot weather, so wearing a sweater would be very uncomfortable if you were to wear one now while recording lol. When Shepherd Book said he had been following in the footsteps of a carpenter for some time, he wasn't referring to his occupation before he became a Shepherd: He was referring to Jesus Christ, who was taught the skills of carpentry by his father Joseph, a carpenter by trade.
Very good. Shepherd is one of the great characters in TV history. (Although I think he would have known the "Ambassador" was really an ambassador (small a) of the traveling type. The casting was perfect for all the characters.
hmmm, on my screen there is 1 view and 4 likes and zero comments???? So I'll use the leadoff spot to say Looking forward to the movie reaction!
Serenity, the movie, is different from the Firefly series. It is VERY intense and fast paced from the start and doesn't slow down at all. New things and new people are introduced at breakneck speed because Joss Whedan had to put the next 2 years of the story line into one movie. The movie starts right after the series ends but the crew starts out very tense with each other. A lot of information is being put out there by everyone, but if you aren't paying attention you will miss it. Try to pay attention to every line of dialog said, especially in the beginning. The first 5 minutes of dialog explains a LOT about what is going on, but most reactors just pay attention to and talk about the action on the screen and don't pay attention to what the characters are saying. Then these same reactors ask why things are happening for the rest of the movie. It's a great movie. Enjoy!
Serenity is the end of the show. It's Good stand alone movie as well.
We all felt like someone stopped talking in the middle of a sentence.
There are so many of us who feel the same way, that they should have kept it going. It was the fans screaming so loud that they made the movie. The movie does reveal alot but not all and has sad parts. I totally love your commentary on both these episodes and can hardly wait to watch your reaction to the movie. Also Duaffy, just know if you need a break for any reason we will be here waiting for your return.
Love that show. The movie is great too =)
You're at the point in this series where it's worth knowing the truth.
Inara won't allow herself to fall in love because she's dying. She has a terminal disease and not much longer left to live. Despite all her plans, she fell in love with Mal. But she can't/won't allow it to proceed. She knows it would be cruel to him to let him fall for her and then have to watch her die.
As we found out in the second to last episode, Inara had an extremely promising future as the head mistress of house Madrassa. But she suddenly packed her things and left. This was right after she found out that her time was limited. She didn't want her friends to mourn her passing. She decided to see the 'verse. She booked passage onn a small freighter that would take her to all corners of the inhabited systems. It would allow her to take work when she needed to while seeing a lot before she passed.
I am surprised no one has mentioned it, that I have seen anyway, but Disney+ is rebooting Firefly. Same cast, but Joss Whedon will not be involved.
EDIT: It looks like it might be a new cast. I saw Nathan FIllion talk about it, and it made me think he was involved or reprising his role. It is a reboot, so it is not a continuation, it is a complete reboot. New stories, probably new cast.
I enjoyed the reaction, I watch reaction videos for the vicarious company; but I do sometimes get concerned that when a reactor is commenting on a scene they are missing something I think is important or interesting especially since it is a first viewing. I have enjoyed your experience with "Firefly", and I can't wait to watch "Serenity" with you.
Jubal Early is the most overt reference the show makes to its inspiration, Confederate raiders and outlaws in the post-Civil War American West. The name is taken from a Confederate General.
Also an ancestor of Nathan Fillion.
The historical General Jubal Early was major promoter of the Lost Cause mythology after the US Civil War.
well he once was a Lawyer lol
it is a transport ship they are just hatches
'dont make faces"
As a man, I feel it needs to be said that believing that a woman is less than a man is NOT manly AT ALL. This is not a feminist belief. This is manly.
Not less, different.
In the comics continuation Early survived this.
He was supposed to be the antagonist of the movie but Richard Brooks wasn't available.
The network executives were idiots. Looking forward to watching Serenity with you.
4:00 How is it Mal's fault? 10:03 Yeah, well, Mal tried for the entire series to get close to Inara, and she rebuffed him at every turn. He tried to make it a gesture of good will to take the "job" without pay, and she reinforced that their arrangement was "professional." Every time Mal tried to advance things, she slapped him back for it. That's not right. 14:33 No... Mal did not completely change his feelings. It is humanly possible to have feelings for multiple people. Especially Mal. Dude spent the entire series pining for Inara, then he got his head messed with by Saffron, and then he met this woman and ended up in a very intensely intimate and erotic moment with her. She was sweet, soft spoken, and beautiful. Inara kept him waiting and, quite frankly, hurting.
Believe me. I was in love with a woman for several years. I gave every opportunity, and I knew that on some level she felt the same. But every time something would "start" she would back out on it and leave me hanging. I tried to setup date nights. I tried to do this, and that. I tried, and tried, and tried. She was always hurt that nobody loved her. I tried over and over again, and she found new and interesting ways to shut me down. So I moved on. Not that long ago, with tears in my eyes, she confessed she wished she hadn't. Too late. Times have changed.
Mal and Inara both played relationship games. It's not fair to pin Inara being hurt on Mal. All Inara had to do was say yes. Go to Mal, kiss him, hold him close. That would have been it. Game over.
Let's thank Fox again for all the wrong decisions that led to the termination of this unique series.(middle finger follows!), nevertheless, Firefly continues to excite people, while many other hit series are long gone from their memory.(two middle fingers!!).
Oh... you speak Mandarin!
[Referring to a meme years ago, which Jewel had to ask Browncoats to stop circulating, as she might still need to work with the studio in future projects.]
One would think after the "Star Trek" cancellation more science and art would go into cancelling highly original series. Especially considering storing/sharing a series is simply digits on a computer. Memory is virtually free, unlike days of film and video tapes.
the movies great
Hopefully, watching Serenity will give you a little bit of closure. It doesn't plug all the holes, but it ties the story together better than the series had a chance to. Oh, and there will be tears.
EDIT: I should have watched another 30 seconds before posting this. Hope the nose is feeling better! :)
FWIW, Inara had a terminal illness that they never explored. They had episodes planned for Season 2, and they hinted at it a few times but never directly mentioned it. That's why her and Mal have such a weird relationship.
Can you react to PUMP UP THE VOLUME (1990)?
yeah, it`s a real shame, that they end this series....
The tech bust occurred several years earlier (and its effects lingered for many years) so maybe money was lacking in the business?
Best series ever cancelled. I am really looking forward to your reaction to "Serenity".
Agree'd. I also feel the same way with Kyle XY. Both needed more time.
Ok, now that our Duaffy has finished the series (I know the movie is still to come), I can finally say it:
I watched this show when it first came out. I've watched a couple of reactions. So, can somebody tell me, why I still can't decide which of those amazing women I like best?
They are all well fleshed out characters and very distinctively different. Would have loved a full 22+ episode first season and several more after to further flesh out all the characters. It's a shame the movie tried to pack much of the character development plus a new story all in one. They had intended more movies but Universal screwed the pooch just as badly as FOX did except unintentionally I believe.
You missed Wash saying there was a reflection in their wake - that is behind the ship where his ship is. BTW, early plot on Inara was she left the big central temple because she has some incurable space disease and does not want to be burden on those she loves. Now she loves the Serenity crew...
I don't get the old style syringe. Why not a modern one like in "Star Trek"?
Inara made it clear when she rented the shuttle that she would not be "servicing" Mal or anyone in the crew, and has reason to avoid emotional attachment, so she keeps burying her attraction to Mal. In this episode 13 she finally faces up to the fact that those feelings are not going away - so she needs to. Inara's profession is her calling, it is who she is, and she doesn't want to give it up.
Meanwhile, Mal had a conservative religious upbringing, and has a real problem accepting Inara's work, her profession, her calling. He also doesn't think shipboard romances are a good idea. He has buried those feeling too, walled them away - he has convinced himself that he just admires her.
Both are repressing, heavily repressing, their feelings.
In episode 14, Jubal Early was based on a Confederate general who was a real racist, and who was somewhat deaf in one ear. They kept the deafness bit, which is why he mishears some things. They cast Jubal as a black man out of a sense of irony I think. Jubal in the episode isn't a racist, he's just a sociopath, and a bit misogynistic - highly intelligent, but yeah, definitely a bit crazy...he knows how to find peoples' weaknesses and use them against them to manipulate and control them.
Jubal's ship is stealthy - Wash noticed some strangeness in their wake but didn't see it for what it was, and dismissed it. Meanwhile, crazy River is craftier than crazy Jubal. Jubal's ship can probably be called to him, so if the show had gone on he could have been a recurring character. Instead, Jubal, and all of us fans, were left in limbo...
The investment you have in this series, you are clearly a lifelong browncoat.
River say Simon say "I would be there right now" early in the episode - and he saud it later. She also heard Jubal's voice among other voices at the very start.
Kinda wish the the bounty hunter had a chance to be more fleshed out. He was so chaotic neutral with his personality that he would have made for an awesome bad guy/"acquaintance" to the crew. Same with Badger.
Reaction the raid redemption
Hey Duaffy, loved your Firefly reactions! Can't wait for you to watch the movie! You now know the pain of all Firefly fans! This is it, there is nothing more. We have been dealing with this pain for twenty years now. :P
You need a new science fiction series to react to now, yeah? :P Might I humbly suggest "The Expanse"? I'm sure others must have mentioned it to you before. It is an amazing series and I'd love to see how you feel about it!
It reminds me of a later Summer Glau series, Terminator. Where it just ended. At least in that one they made a half-baked final episode.
Mal has a lot of nerve.
Just not where it is expected.
The marriage with Mal was a farce. Someone like her can fool men all the time but will never fool another woman. They would have exposed her immediately.
Unfortunately the season ending ended up being the movie, which was great, but made it almost impossible to have another season.
I would rather they had ran season 1 to it's extent, and did more seasons instead of making the movie.
Good point. There was more than enough $ for another season in what the movie cost. Plus, it would be rerun forever, like "Star Trek."
One could never replace Shepherd Book. My favorite person in F.
I'm terrified of them making another series - look at how bad the recent Star Wars movies and TV have been, the recent Star Trek movies and TV have been, the Marvel universe has become. they would destroy the memory of a great show all to push "THE MESSAGE".
It was great, let it go out as having been great.
Now watch cowboy bebop the animated series
I always wondered if the upside-down cow foetus (in "The Message") was a nod to Serenity pretty much being the Bebop but upside down...
@@Xoferif maybe
I'd disagree with calling "Burgess" manly. He is the kind of small, arrogant, bully that is an insult to all "real" men. He lacks so many of the traits that make a man he is just the toxic masculinity stereotype... that sadly actually exists. If he had been manly... someone might have cared that he died. No one cared. He was feared, people admired his wealth, but they didn't care about him.
I never watch for your nose, so that's all fine. :)
Um, Mal thinks Inara does not feel for him. So you would have any guy crushing on you remain chaste despite knowing you'd never give him the time of day? Sorry Duaffy, it doesn't work that way. And she was manipulating him like Saffron but honestly "Ever since I showed you my guns."
If you haven't yet, be sure and watch, "The River Sessions" Look specifically for the one with the correct order. It's not very long.
Be safe
she can but he can't? that doesn't seem right. seems like someone might have to come to some sort of understanding before that might be a thing.
All rise for The Browncoat Anthem:
Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me.
Take me out to the black
Tell them I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me.
Leave the men where they lay
They'll never see another day
Lost my soul, lost my dream
You can't take the sky from me.
I feel the black reaching out
I hear its song without a doubt
I still hear and I still see
That you can't take the sky from me.
Lost my love, lost my land
Lost the last place I could stand
There's no place I can be
Since I've found Serenity
And you can't take the sky from me.
You're so pretty, logic is irrelevant
You are now a Browncoat. I am so sorry.
Please watch the Serenity movie
Fox had a poor rating time slot on Friday nights. They put a show called Dark Angel in the time slot and in its first season viewership of that timeslot nearly doubled and they earned a second season. Viewership for the timeslot continued to increase durring the second season, but while filming their finale a visiting actor broke her neck doing a stunt and they had to postpone shooting.
Durring that time the producer's of Firefly started lobying for the slot . The fox executives went for it and canceled the already approved 3rd season of Dark Angel and gave it to Firefly - who promptly sh!t the bed, destroyed the viewership of the timeslot and wrecked all of the hard work Dark Angel put into building it up.
After Fireflys crappy 1 season, the timeslot became a dumping ground for infomercials because no one was watching it anymore.
My days of not taking you serious have certainly come to a middle. All of the problems with the time slot were self-inflicted by Fox executives. Fox sabotaged the series, and that is a fact. Fox was the upstart network trying to build with fewer primetime hours [8-10 pm] than the traditional broadcast networks [8-11 pm]. The way that the executives fouled up the series was near criminal, and totally incompetent. As Joss has proven with the DVD release sales figures, he caught lightning in a bottle.
Jessica Alba and Michael Weatherly moved on, maybe you should as well.
The series was too dark and depressing. They should have made it fun like "Star Trek." Still, the cast was the best of any SciFi since the original series (Star Trek).
