I have the forty volt hedge trimmer and give it regular use in my job. I find it to be a great highly useful tool that makes trimming go fast. Two things, I don't find the slow speed very useful, and the pivoting handle although a real helpful feature that locks in the established positions, there is a little slop in the lock and I get some play back and forth. It's not a big concern, but I think that part could be done better. On my model purchased in Japan, the handle throttle lock only needs to be pulled in initially to move the trigger, then for one handed use or so, the handle lock can be released to continue cutting as long as the trigger is held in. Battery charge life all in all seems quite decent.
ive had my Makita UH005G for 5 months and use it almost every day. It cuts very well and so easy to use.
Damn that’s some extreme bush trimming 😅 loving the cutter bar comparison 👍🏻
Definitely need one of these
Well. I’ve been more than happy with the small 18v one same as the one you have/had. I love it. Never considered replacing it as it works fine.
Though that 40v….. what a wonderful bit of kit. Might have to add it to the collection 🤔
Totally agree!
Nicely presented video 👍.
In the long term I have experienced a lot of hedge cutters blades dulling or in the case ot the last McCulloch that I owned, well knackered after two seasons. What do you reckon on the Makita range, especially the 40 volt
Any idea how well this tackles a large number of thick branches? The video shows a thick branch cut so obviously it can do it, but I'm looking at clearing lantana with branches 10-20mm thick, so I'm wondering whether it would slice through them in one go or whether it would take a few seconds to nibble away at each branch before it finishes the cut, slowing down the overall job.
Can you do , 80v concrete saw, and 80v breaker. cannot find any vids on these
That is some fast bush trimming :)
I used to do it a lot!
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL :wink wink:
I can see the application of a Makita badged cable tie perhaps?
Great camerawork. Where did you get your tee? I would like one of those.
I won it.
I hope they make a trigger only to operate in 750 by this summer,I like to keep a few shrubs at privacy height...lol
I have to say makita makes to best battery hedge trimmer by far
What are you doing with all of your 18v tools?
Cool 😎
I use the brushless 600mm 750mm 18 volt one and they a great job on my jobs I look after. But the XGT stuff looks a step up.
I’m debating between the 600 vs the 750. Your thoughts would be appreciated
@@robertvandermolen230 they both great tools I find my self using the 750mm one more as can get more work done because of bigger cutting length and more reach. But if I was cutting a small buxus hedge or small rounded hedges I would use the 600mm.
Hey mate, Loving ya vids! A while back you were looking at doing a review on the the makita 15l sprayer but i think you were waiting till it came out here in NZ. I seen on makita NZ its now on there but can’t find a place to purchase it, Would you know where i can go to buy?? Thanks 🤙🏼
There are currently 36 in the country but you will have to order one from a Makita dealer. I get most of my Makita stuff here: www.tradierepublic.co.nz
I will probably put the review out next Friday.
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL Cool, thanks heaps!
Vs DUH601Z it's better or the same?
my 18lxt are awesome
Don't know if I missed it in the video or not but how does the battery go on trimmers? Run times I mean, guesstimate is fine. Thinking of buying one for work purposes over petrol.
Hedge trimmers is the first tool I would replace with battery due to good runtimes. 50+ minutes runtime on high and 2x-4x that on lower speed settings. 1-2 batteries would be all you need if you don't do pure hedge trimming for the whole day.
How was the run time on a 5Ah battery? Would a 2.5 Ah work to save much weight?
Hedge trimmers take about the least amount of energy to run, and with the shorter blade would be even easier.
anyone rate Makita garden range over the equivalent offerings from Ego?
single sided blade cutters can be made longer as the blade doesn't bend
I've never seen a cordless one available that is any longer than a double sided blade.
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL me neither but saw a petrol one with 100cm blade. I have the single sided 75cm, 40v model as it was a special offer.
Cable tie the dead man handle switche
That's what I do.
1:05 looks like mine
It's very similar
Where's the pole hedge trimmer video
I actually filmed some of that yesterday.
1337, nice
That may be as good as or better than my ego and it it definitely looks a lot less like something out of a Transformers movie.
Update. Infinitely better than ego.
How many bloody hedges does 1 bloke need
And how many trailer loads of green waste did he just generate
And you only saw a very small part of it. There was so much footage.
Someone else cleaned it up😁
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL one of the pros of being an NZ celebrity**
** NZ celeb means more than 1000 people know you (i.e. half of the NZ population)
I don't know if that many people know me.
Why were you holding the single sided one backwards/upside down? Of course it's uncomfortable if you hold it wrong.
I'm not.
