    I recently picked one of these up,
    My budget wasn't limited, but my kitchen counter space was, as it is replacing a compact nespresso machine.
    I think it is to easy to forget that espresso machines need about the same space as a microwave oven plus some extra space for a grinder and tamping etc, and let's not forget all the other things taking up counter space like kettles toasters food processors mixers etc

    • @Rydecoffeecoach

      Actually, you make a great point! 👌🙌 I hadn't considered people not having the bench space. I was relogated to the laundry for years because I had a commercial 2group plumbed in. Now that I downsized the machine I was allow to use the kitchen bench, but definitely a major plus for the Breville Pro is the footprint. Thanks for pointing that out!

    I had this Barista Pro 4 years ago and was a tremendous letdown! The temperature never went up to 93c-95c! I even set the highest on the menu and it still had the same temp! The most crucial element to any espresso machine is brew temperature. If you cannot set the machine to brew temp then your shots will be either bitter or sour! In my case, it was sour because it was way below brew temperature. I contacted customer support and they sent me a replacement and unfortunately it had the same issue! Breville gave up and will not replace the unit for the 3rd time and coldly responded if I’m not satisfied with the product, then return it for a refund. Which I did!
    Fast forward to 2024. I ordered my very first La Marzocco Linea Mini R back in May and received it early this month on September. It was quite a long wait and was totally worth it. I almost gave up waiting. I have been using it every day and this machine has the most stable temperature ever! It was super hot and I got every shot like it supposed to in a cafe setting! Even the cup warmer was super warm! The Baristas Pro was a joke! It has no warmth heat whatsoever for cups warming. It was cold actually! I can’t believe why Breville would release such an inferior product? It wasn’t cheap. It was 1000 dollars [tax included) at the time. Now due to dollars inflation. The price went up to 1299 dollars Canadian and more!
    Basically I have to drop $10k for getting a true authentic espresso machine that performs wonders like stepping inside a cafe! Then by all means I’m glad that I made a huge jump on this purchase. This will be my Endgame espresso machine to the day I die!

      @@Rydecoffeecoach It baffles me like customers can’t tell the difference between prosumer and consumer products. Companies like Breville are really deceptive. It’s like if we are paying below 1000 dollars for an espresso machine then we are not getting near what we expect from a real espresso machine. 1000 dollars plus espresso machine is built like toy quality and not a real machine. We have to fork out 10k to get the real deal. I mean I could get the Rocket Appartemento but it’s not a dual boiler but a thermal heat exchanger which might affect heat stability. I don’t want to take the chance by buying another machine that will regret me in the long term that’s why I decided to went all out. It’s better than saving some money to get a less unsatisfactory machine than buying a dream machine.
      If Breville were to produce inexpensive watches but they can’t give you accurate time unless you buy a Rolex! Fortunately it doesn’t. I can’t afford Rolex but any cheap watches can give me accurate time. You get what I mean. In other words, Breville expresso machines can make coffee but just can’t produce better shots due to cost to make one with just less than 1000 dollars budget to make a quality machine.

    3 to 5 year life expectancy! Our Siemens is 17 years old and has made around 17,000 brews. Our Miele is playing up after only 6 years. They both make pretty good coffee quickly, which is what we need in the morning. I'm not sure I'm prepared to splash out on a fancy machine that needs a fair bit of faffing to get a coffee, especially as we'll need to replace it pretty soon.

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  11 місяців тому

      Yes, I wouldn't recommend this machine for an upgrade to what you currently have. 17 years is amazing and I bet you'll become the face of @siemens once they hear this news!
      If you don't enjoy preparing the coffee first then I would recommend sticking to the super automatic machines like Siemens or Jura, even De'Longhi. But you are limiting yourself to experiencing how amazing coffee can taste. Think of it like a microwave meal as opposed to cooking your own gourmet dinner.
      I love the ritual of making coffee in the morning, it's my mindfulness and therapy all rolled into one, so for me, spending 15 minutes making two coffees is bliss.

    My Breville Express which I bought second hand took a dump on me. So my wife bought me a used Brim and man was that a mistake. It’s a poor man’s Breville. The shot quality isn’t even on par with the Breville Express. So the cool part is Breville sent me a percentage off any one of the Breville coffee lineups. I’m considering the Pro or the Dual Boiler. I know it sounds like the Dual boiler is the way to go. But I do already have the accessories that fit the Pro model. I’m leaning toward both and torn. I think selling my 1st born is easier than picking an expresso machine. 😂

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  2 роки тому +1

      Oh no! You've got a tough decision to make! How much do all you accessories cost? If it's not too much you could sell them and maybe make a bit back to put towards the dual boiler. I would opt for the Dual Boiler because it's a standard 58mm group head. This means you'll always have loads of accessories that fit it, the Express/pro you'll always have to wait until they make a 54mm version of the latest accessory.

    Hey ryd! quick question: i have the breville express at home for family and friends and like you im quite dissapointed with it only after a couple of months. its ok, but not what i thought. just not powerfull enough and the steamer is tiny and weak. im looking at some sort of upgrade and im not sure where to go with this. im thinking maybe a small machine with a 58mm portf and a grinder. brands like Gagia or Rancilio would be good? can you point me in the right direction.

      Yep the Barista express is really a let down and I don't know why Breville still sell it since they now offer the Barista Pro.

    I have to disagree when experts say better off investing in an higher end grinder than a higher end espresso machine. Well let say if the statement is true. I went out and spend 300 dollars on the Breville Bambino espresso and paired with EG1 Weber grinder that costs 6000 dollars. Will it give me better shots due to expensive grinder? Yes and no unless the Bambino espresso is able to give us 9 bars pressure and stable temperature then it’s possible but the Barista Pro costs more than the Bambino and can’t even handle the temperature stability up to 93-95 Celsius. Then whatever came out from the inferior espresso will not give you decent shots even though it’s grind by the EG1 Weber grinder.

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  Місяць тому

      It's not just about that. There is also the fact that you'll never have to upgrade your grinder again most likely. That's why you shouldn't buy a Barista Pro with built in grinder.
      And if you buy a Slayer One group and use a kmart grinder or worse preground coffee, your coffee will never ever taste good. At least the other way around you should still get decent results. Obviously best pathway is to buy an affordable combo like Eureka Specialita and Profitec Go. Then you'll get great coffee out the gate.

      The machines I recommend that sit at this price point are: Rancilio Silvia and Gaggia classic pro. You'll need to buy a separate grinder but in the long run it's worth it. You'll also need to go on a steep learning curve to get the best extractions out of it because they are not exactly beginner friendly.
